146: You won't default on your debt, right?
Ren Fei, standing to the side, looked as if he had heard the joke of the century.
"President Song, I'd say you, a man who started in the internet industry and has been in this circle for several years, should have gained some knowledge by now. How could Xinan Network be attacked? It's a company specializing in network security!
Don't be so ridiculous! Your company might get attacked, but Xinan Network never would."
Song Yuan glanced at him.
"General Manager Ren, don't be so dismissive. There's always someone better, and there's always a higher heaven. Just because you don't understand doesn't mean others don't either. When it comes to finance, I'm certainly not as knowledgeable as General Manager Ren, but I know more about the internet with my eyes closed than you do."
Ren Fei was rebuffed and bit his tongue, not responding further.
Miss Qipao began helping to deal the tiles.
Song Yuan started with good tiles, and after drawing a few more, he was already waiting for a specific tile to win.
He remembered where one of the tiles he needed was located. It was impossible for someone else to give it to him, so he had to rely on drawing it himself.
Just as the next round was about to reach that tile, Song Yuan drew a joker. Looking at the table, it hadn't appeared yet. If he played this, the game would likely end.
Song Yuan reluctantly held onto the joker and played another tile.
After two more rounds, he was waiting for a new set of tiles.
Ren Fei and the person opposite him were both discarding tiles to help Meng Xuelin, so their chances of winning were slim.
The only person Song Yuan needed to guard against was Meng Xuelin, who sat opposite him.
He observed the tiles Meng Xuelin discarded, roughly guessing what he needed, and Song Yuan held all the opposing tiles in his hand.
When it was Ren Fei's turn to draw, he discarded a tile that hadn't appeared on the table yet.
Meng Xuelin's eyes lit up. He picked up the tile, added it to his hand, and pushed his tiles down.
"I win!"
Ren Fei and the other person flattered him.
"General Manager Meng has such good luck today! Good thing we're not playing for money, otherwise, our companies would all be lost to you."
"General Manager Meng won again! How are we supposed to live? Your luck is like that of a gambling king!"
The people watching around them also laughed along.
"General Manager Meng is set! I told you, General Manager Meng is bound to win today!"
"Is there any suspense? General Manager Meng's luck has always been the best; today it's even better. Someone's going to be polishing shoes later!"
"Even though it's just for fun, saying this out loud is a bit embarrassing. We're all prominent figures, sigh! Wishing him good luck!"
Many sympathetic glances turned towards Song Yuan.
Meng Xuelin jokingly asked,
"President Song, you won't go back on your word later, will you? We made a bet. You can't lose the game and then make excuses to run, or pretend to be drunk and refuse to admit defeat!"
Song Yuan chuckled softly.
"Of course, I'll honor the bet. General Manager Meng, you won't go back on your word, will you?"
Meng Xuelin laughed.
"I'm the one who won, what's there for me to go back on? What would I go back on?"
"As long as you don't go back on your word."
Song Yuan unhurriedly pushed down the tiles in his hand, took back the one Meng Xuelin had just taken, and neatly arranged a beautiful hand of tiles on the table.
"General Manager Meng, I also won. According to the rules, it seems this tile was supposed to be mine first, don't you agree?"
The atmosphere instantly froze, and the air felt solid.
Who would have thought that something so certain could change?
Song Yuan had so blatantly intercepted the win!
The turn of events exceeded everyone's imagination.
Those who had just spoken all shut their mouths, not daring to say anything more.
Meng Xuelin's mouth twitched, and his old face dropped as he looked at Song Yuan, but his expression cleared in just a few seconds.
It was only one game; it wouldn't decide the win or loss. He still had three more chances.
Meng Xuelin chuckled.
"Next game."
Song Yuan eyed the table, trying to memorize the tiles. Just then, his phone, in his pocket, chimed with a message notification.
Song Yuan pulled out his phone. Gu Shiyuan's message had come through.
"Ten minutes are up, Brother-in-law, what on earth are you doing?"
Song Yuan's fingers rapidly tapped on the screen. He sent Gu Shiyuan a set of instructions, telling Gu Shiyuan to open Xinan Network's official website, activate the control page, and input the code.
He sent the steps one by one.
Song Yuan trusted Gu Shiyuan. That kid usually seemed unreliable, but he wouldn't mess up at a crucial moment.
After sending the message, Song Yuan smiled and explained to the people at the table,
"Work matters. I'm just replying to a message."
The other three at the table didn't say anything, as they were all CEOs and it was common for them to handle urgent matters during social engagements.
For the second game, Miss Qipao had already helped to gather the tiles. While Song Yuan was replying to the message, Miss Qipao had helped him arrange them.
Now Song Yuan began his second battle.
He scanned the table, recalling the tiles he had just memorized. He had been distracted while replying to the message and had forgotten some, so there wasn't much left in his mind.
Song Yuan felt this game was a bit iffy.
However, his main target was Meng Xuelin, so he could help the other two players.
After a few rounds of drawing tiles in this game, Song Yuan helped Ren Fei next to him win.
Ren Fei scratched his head. He hadn't intended to win, but his luck was genuinely too good this time. He guiltily glanced at Meng Xuelin beside him.
At this point, Meng Xuelin had lost two consecutive games and was starting to sweat a little on his forehead.
For the next two games, Song Yuan was fully focused.
Anyone at the table could win except for Meng Xuelin.
Moreover, Song Yuan hoped that the two players other than Meng Xuelin would also win, isolating Meng Xuelin and making him polish everyone's shoes.
This was what Song Yuan was thinking and calculating.
Subsequently, Song Yuan won another game. They had agreed to play four games to determine the winner, and currently, only Meng Xuelin and one other person at the table had not won.
The shoe-polishing junior would be born between those two.
While Miss Qipao was arranging the tiles, Song Yuan checked his phone. Gu Shiyuan had sent another message.
"Holy crap, Brother-in-law, what kind of earth-shattering game are you playing? This code you gave me is going to crash Xinan Network, Brother-in-law!!! Can you answer the phone?"
Song Yuan calmly sent the last line of code instructions to Gu Shiyuan and replied to him,
"Enter this line, run the code, and then screenshot the hacked website page."
Gu Shiyuan on the other end was scared out of his wits. This was a leading network security company in the country, and it was brought down so easily?
"Brother-in-law, I've discovered a huge secret! You're a hacker!!!"
Song Yuan put away his phone and didn't reply to the message, returning his attention to the table.
In this game, he had been distracted sending messages to Gu Shiyuan and hadn't memorized many tiles, so he had to play blindly.
However, he had won two games, so he was already in a good position. Winning this game didn't really matter, but he wanted the other person to win.
That person happened to be sitting to Song Yuan's right.
After two rounds of drawing tiles, Song Yuan had figured out the other person's strategy.
Subsequently, Song Yuan disregarded his own tiles and gave the person to his right whatever they needed. Within a few rounds, he helped the person to his right win.
The moment the tiles were pushed down, Meng Xuelin's face was uglier than dirt.
Everyone dared not discuss the bet anymore. This big shot could propose that the losing party polish the shoes of the other three.
Song Yuan sat calmly, observing Meng Xuelin's expression opposite him, and after a while, asked in a nonchalant tone,
"General Manager Meng, you won't go back on your word, will you?"
