44: Chapter 44: On the wedding night, he closed the curtains
Song Yuan was feeling the effects of the alcohol and was a bit sleepy.
“Junior Brother, let’s talk later, I’ve had a bit too much to drink today.”
“No, now!”
Gu Shiyuan’s tone held a hint of petulance and unwillingness, like a child whose base had been stolen in a game, both angry and wronged.
Song Yuan didn’t know what was wrong with him; he had been quite happy when he went to pick up the bride as a groomsman in the morning, and he was the most boisterous.
However, he had a dark expression throughout the wedding, barely spoke, didn’t try to catch the bouquet when the bride threw it, ignored the bridesmaids who added him on WeChat, and seemed completely spiritless.
Song Yuan was a little worried if he had encountered something, so he said to Gu Shiyu,
“Junior Brother and I are going out for a bit.”
Gu Shiyu gave Gu Shiyuan a hawk-like glare, and although Gu Shiyuan was afraid, he ignored her.
He absolutely had to talk to Song Yuan today.
The two came to an empty corner, and Song Yuan leaned against the wall.
“Junior Brother, have you run into something? Tell me, can I help?”
Gu Shiyuan exhaled a turbid breath, thinking that tonight, this man in front of him would be consummating his marriage with his sister!
Although this was a normal thing between husband and wife, he had made some questionable moves before, sending Song Yuan many intimate items and even giving Song Yuan ideas on how to win over his own sister.
He wanted to punch himself!
“Senior Brother, that bag of things I gave you a few days ago, you haven’t used it, right? I took the wrong one, give it back to me!”
Song Yuan said ‘Oh,’ thinking it was a big deal, but it turned out he had just taken the wrong item. However, he thought he hadn’t taken the wrong one; he had checked the contents of the bag, and they matched what Gu Shiyuan had said on WeChat.
“You didn’t take the wrong one; I checked the contents. I hadn’t used them before, but today… I will use them.”
Gu Shiyuan:!!!
Gu Shiyuan’s nerves were all taut, feeling as if he had personally pushed his sister into a pit of fire.
“No!”
Song Yuan was somewhat puzzled; why was this Junior Brother acting so strangely? He had given him the items, and now he wouldn’t let him use them, and he was reacting so strongly.
He thought, perhaps this kid was envious after seeing him get married.
Song Yuan patted Gu Shiyuan’s shoulder,
“Don’t be so stingy; how can you ask for something back after giving it away? When you get married, I’ll send you something too!”
After Song Yuan finished speaking, his eyes caught sight of Gu Shiyu in their direction. Their gazes met, Song Yuan smiled, and he left Gu Shiyuan behind.
Gu Shiyuan was so anxious that he hammered the wall behind him; he was so stupid!
He was letting his sister down!
Song Yuan sat back down next to Gu Shiyu. Gu Shiyu had been worried for a while that the kid might say something wrong. Seeing Song Yuan return, she quickly asked him,
“What were you two talking about?”
Song Yuan hesitated for a few seconds before replying,
“Nothing, just work-related matters.”
Gu Shiyu said ‘Oh,’ and her worries eased.
Song Yuan looked at her with burning eyes, and his mind inexplicably conjured up some images that made him feel hot. That bag of items at home, he could take it out today.
He wondered if she would be shy when she saw them.
“Shiyu, help me pour a cup of tea.”
Gu Shiyu filled the cup and brought it to him.
“Didn’t you just finish a cup?”
Song Yuan smiled. He didn’t want to tell her that he was drinking so much water to metabolize the alcohol in his body as quickly as possible. Although he had taken hangover medicine beforehand, he wanted to give her a perfect wedding night.
The wedding concluded successfully, and after seeing off all the guests, Song Yuan and Gu Shiyu returned to their home.
This day was a hundred times more exhausting than going to work.
Gu Shiyu kicked off her high heels and leaned against the sofa. Song Yuan’s alcohol buzz had passed, and he sat down next to her.
On the living room floor, streamers, balloons, and ribbons from the morning’s wedding games were still scattered. The lively atmosphere had faded, and they finally had time alone.
After resting for a moment, Song Yuan drew the sheer curtains in the living room.
“Husband, I’m a little hungry.”
Song Yuan chuckled,
“Me too.”
They both hadn’t really had a chance to eat today, spending the whole time entertaining guests.
Song Yuan opened the refrigerator and saw the tangyuan he had bought a few days ago. Before he could take them out, Gu Shiyu intuitively said,
“I want to eat tangyuan.”
Song Yuan took out the bag of tangyuan and added water to the pot to boil them.
The orange persimmon-shaped tangyuan tumbled in the water, symbolizing “all wishes come true.”
Gu Shiyu appeared behind Song Yuan at some point, pressing against his back and wrapping her arms around his waist.
How could Song Yuan resist her teasing like this? He turned around, picked her up, placed her on the countertop, and leaned in to kiss her.
She had a faint floral scent about her, not from cosmetics or perfume, and every time Song Yuan smelled it, he felt intoxicated.
As they kissed, the mood intensified, and their breaths became ragged. Neither of them paid attention to what was cooking in the pot.
Song Yuan’s thumb caressed her earlobe. She was wearing the Hetian jade earrings today, just like the night they first met at the hotel, like a token of their love.
Gu Shiyu gasped softly under his suffocating, passionate kiss.
“Song Yuan, the pot…”
Song Yuan stopped his movements. A layer of cute tangyuan in the pot had already expanded and floated to the surface.
“They’re done.”
He paused, then asked breathily,
“Eat tangyuan first, or…?”
Gu Shiyu’s cheeks were flushed, and her beautiful eyes shimmered with emotion. She looked even more captivating when aroused, and Song Yuan couldn’t tear his eyes away.
She was silent for a moment, then said,
“Eat tangyuan first. After eating… then I’ll have strength.”
Song Yuan chuckled softly,
“Okay, eat tangyuan first.”
He took two bowls. Gu Shiyu used a spoon to scoop the tangyuan into the bowls. The dining room was just outside the kitchen, a few meters away, but they felt a reluctance to separate.
The steaming hot tangyuan were placed on the table. They didn’t sit opposite each other as usual, but sat on the same side.
Song Yuan held her left hand, their fingers intertwined.
“Shiyu, do you have plans to have children?”
Gu Shiyu had considered this question before. She was a bit busy at this stage.
“I probably won’t have time to get pregnant and have a baby until two years from now. Do you want one?”
After a pause, she added,
“If you want one, I can also readjust my work, but before we try to conceive, we need to go to the hospital for a check-up, quit smoking and drinking, and exercise.”
Song Yuan hadn’t expected her to readjust her work plans to accommodate his wishes. He felt respected.
“No, I was just asking casually. Actually, I also want to enjoy two years of just the two of us first. Since you don’t want one temporarily either, I bought a set in advance.”
Gu Shiyu’s small face flushed. She hadn’t expected Song Yuan to be talking about that.
The previous times, they hadn’t gone all the way because they hadn’t prepared birth control. He was thoughtful today.
Gu Shiyu bit into the tangyuan in her bowl in small mouthfuls, not knowing how to respond.
Song Yuan found her current appearance very cute, different from her usual demeanor.
He wanted to kiss her again.
“Shiyu, are you full?”
