159: Her birthday
That evening, back in the room, Shiyu and Song Yuan discussed having Gu Shiyuan try to get involved in some of Gus Group's business, putting aside matters at Fengxue Entertainment for now.
Shiyu was pregnant with twins, and her physical strength might not keep up in the later stages, so Gu Shiyuan, this idle young master, would have to contribute sooner or later.
Song Yuan's side had a new, experienced senior engineer join yesterday, so Gu Shiyuan not going wouldn't affect anything.
The two of them decided not to inform Gu Shiyuan.
The next day for work, Shiyu had the driver help Gu Shiyuan into the car, preparing to take him to the company.
Shiyu decided to start Gu Shiyuan's intensive training from now on, having him participate in various company meetings, decisions, and important documents so he could stand on his own two feet sooner.
It wasn't until the car stopped downstairs at Gus Group that Gu Shiyuan realized what was happening.
"What's going on? Wasn't I supposed to go to Fengxue Entertainment with Brother-in-law? How did we end up here? Where's my Brother-in-law?"
Shiyu said softly,
"Your Brother-in-law fired you. From now on, you're my subordinate. From the moment you walk through this door, you need to be fully alert. Ideally, you can take over my work in four months."
Gu Shiyuan gasped, realizing this had gotten serious, and more importantly, he couldn't run away even if he wanted to.
"Sis, why don't you just financially sanction me instead...? I really don't want to touch your business."
Shiyu's attitude was firm,
"Now it's not a question of whether you want to or not, it's a must. Do you understand Mandarin? Are you going to let Old Lady, who's over seventy, come to work at the company when I'm giving birth?"
Gu Shiyuan muttered quietly,
"Seventy is the prime age for striving..."
Shiyu glared at him, and he swallowed the rest of his sentence, obediently letting the driver escort him into the building.
Song Yuan had several new colleagues joining today, both in the technical and human resources departments.
Song Yuan asked HR to help pack Gu Shiyuan's belongings into a box and bring them back for him after work.
He also hoped Shiyu could relax a bit and that his brother-in-law would be sensible this time, quickly taking over the position so Shiyu could take a break and focus on giving birth.
That evening, he continued to work on Gu Shiyuan's mindset, finally offering to teach him hacking skills as a trade-off. Gu Shiyuan promised to diligently learn the business ropes from his sister, striving to let her rest for a few months.
The time came to Thursday, March 20th, the early spring season when everything was reviving.
It was Shiyu's birthday!
Song Yuan had already made preparations.
Gu Shiyuan had suggested he propose again on this day.
Although they were already husband and wife and had a baby, their marriage was a flash marriage, too rushed, and many necessary steps were omitted.
They were missing a proposal, and Old Lady had also said that after Shiyu gave birth, they needed to hold a wedding ceremony, and in Old Lady's words, it had to be a grand one!
After work, Song Yuan bought a bouquet of red roses and drove to Hengyue Building to pick up Shiyu.
Gu Shiyuan, the little follower, had been quite obedient these past few days. Song Yuan first helped Shiyu open the car door, then went to assist his determined brother-in-law, who had a broken leg.
Shiyu's eyes curved into a smile when she saw the bouquet placed on the seat. She counted them; there were nine in total, accompanied by a few eucalyptus branches.
"The flowers are lovely, but there are a bit few. Next time, can you buy ninety-nine?"
Song Yuan replied,
"All the flowers at the flower shop today were bought by a mysterious person. Only these nine were left."
"This mysterious person is too overbearing. They couldn't have bought all the flowers in Beijing, could they? Are they not letting people celebrate their birthdays?"
Song Yuan smiled, saying nothing.
Gu Shiyuan, sitting in the back, chimed in,
"Sis, you're too picky. These nine flowers were probably snatched by Brother-in-law from someone else. Having some is better than having none."
Shiyu was in a very good mood,
"Alright, thank you, darling. Next year for my birthday, I want to plant the entire courtyard with roses!"
Song Yuan continued to smile.
The car drove back to Peninsula Villa. Today, Song Yuan didn't go to the underground garage. He drove through the main gate into the courtyard, slowly driving a section along the main path, and gradually, a red sea of flowers covering the courtyard appeared before their eyes.
Not only did Song Yuan buy back the roses from Beijing, but he also collaborated with an old flower shop to purchase two large truckloads, all of them in full bloom. He had them planted in the empty space while Shiyu was not home during the day.
Song Yuan rolled down the car window, and the scent of flowers drifted into the car.
Shiyu stared blankly, seeing the most roses she had ever seen, and the most complete variety. And all these flowers belonged to her.
Now she understood why Song Yuan hadn't responded in the car; he was waiting to surprise her.
The mysterious person he mentioned who bought all the flowers was probably himself, wasn't it?
The sight before her was incredibly stunning. Shiyu asked Song Yuan to stop the car; she wanted to walk back along this path, smelling the flowers.
Song Yuan parked the car by the roadside and got out with her, leaving Gu Shiyuan, who had a broken leg, alone in the car.
The two walked forward along the flower path. Shiyu looked left and right; she loved every color of flower.
"Song Yuan, how did you manage all this? When we left this morning, this place was bare. In one day, can you do magic?"
Song Yuan laughed,
"It wasn't in vain if you like it. These flowers were actually bought back last night.
As soon as your car left, hundreds of workers I hired started working urgently. It was only about an hour ago that these flowers were planted and the road surface was cleared.
Shiyu, do you know how many varieties of roses there are in this courtyard?"
Shiyu looked around and guessed,
"There won't be over a hundred, will there?"
Song Yuan shook his head,
"There are five hundred and twenty varieties, and over thirty colors. I give you a courtyard full of roses to represent my feelings for you."
Song Yuan paused here.
It was his first time saying such emotional words, which felt a bit awkward, but he had to say them when necessary,
"Shiyu, thank you for appearing at the lowest point of my life, bringing new hope to my life. You are my lucky goddess, my spiritual pillar, and my source of motivation when I am tired.
In the days to come, I will take good care of you, take good care of our babies, and we will be the happiest family of four.
My queen, will you spend your life with me?"
Shiyu was immersed in Song Yuan's words. After a brief moment of daze, she saw Song Yuan kneeling on one knee, holding one of her hands, looking at her with deep affection.
Shiyu's heart pounded faster and faster. She suddenly realized something: Song Yuan was proposing to her.
She had never imagined that he would still propose, even after they already had children.
Shiyu was the kind of person who appeared very cold on the surface, seemingly caring about nothing but her business. But only those close to her knew that beneath her tough exterior lay a kind princess's heart.
Like other girls, she also longed to be loved, to be noticed, and would be so excited she couldn't speak when proposed to by the one she loved.
Cold-blooded was just a facade; she was most loyal and righteous.
