214: Why don’t you kiss me anymore?
Gu Shiyuan stood there, neither leaving nor staying, feeling incredibly awkward.
This was the second time he had seen his sister and brother-in-law being intimate; he really deserved to die!
They were the ones doing it, but Gu Shiyuan felt more embarrassed than the parties involved. If he could disappear into the ground right now, that would be great.
But he couldn't.
Song Yuan was the first to notice the several-kilowatt lightbulb standing at the doorway. He released Gu Shiyu and coughed awkwardly.
Gu Shiyu, at this moment, still didn't know that the younger brother, who came with a phone top-up, was watching them from a few meters away. She asked Song Yuan with a bewildered expression, "Why aren't you kissing anymore?"
Song Yuan coughed again, helped her up, and gestured with his eyes for her to look behind. Gu Shiyu turned around and saw Gu Shiyuan standing there, flushed and dumbfounded.
A trace of embarrassment flashed across Gu Shiyu's face. She tidied her hair and quickly got off Song Yuan.
"Are your feet rooted to the ground? When will you learn to knock?"
Gu Shiyuan shifted his feet, stepped back outside, and stammered, "I, I, I called you when I just came in, but you didn't answer. I saw the door open so I didn't knock. Who knew you two…"
Gu Shiyu's head was buzzing. She started thinking that now that she was pregnant, there shouldn't be much between a young couple, which was why she let this guy stay at her house temporarily.
Who would have thought there were still so many inconveniences?
Gu Shiyu took a moment to compose herself and emerged from the cloakroom.
"I think you're pretty much recovered now. Move back to your own house tomorrow. I'll arrange a few cooking and cleaning aunties for you. A driver will also be assigned to you. Pick whichever car you like from the garage. Tomorrow, just move out!"
Gu Shiyuan's mind raced. His sister was giving him a car and arranging a driver and aunties, as if she couldn't wait to pack him up and throw him far away.
This was her usual way of doing things, but he didn't want to leave yet.
Gu Shiyuan looked at Song Yuan, casting a pleading look, "Sister, Brother-in-law, can I stay a few more days? Just three days, is that okay? The lights in my house are being changed these days, and the wiring is a bit complicated, so it might not be fixed by tomorrow…"
Gu Shiyu was unyielding, "Then move back to the Old Residence and stay with Grandma first."
Gu Shiyuan felt a pang of despair. He tried to ask, "Sister, if I go back, Grandma will keep asking me about personal matters. I'll go crazy. Please let me stay a few more days, please…"
Gu Shiyu stared at him without speaking. Song Yuan walked over from behind, "Shiyu, why don't we let him stay a few more days?"
Gu Shiyu held back, and seeing Song Yuan's face, she changed her mind, "Three days, not one day more."
Gu Shiyuan felt as if he had been granted a great pardon. He would get through this hurdle first; maybe she would forget in three days.
He suddenly remembered the purpose of finding Gu Shiyu.
"That… Sister, the contract was signed very smoothly. I've arranged a dinner meeting with General Manager Zhou from the other side for tomorrow. You can continue to rest tomorrow. I'll come to you if I have any problems."
Gu Shiyu's bright eyes turned. Hearing this boy speak such sensible words, her face was filled with relief, and she even felt a little ashamed of her attitude when she was just trying to drive him away.
"Coincidentally, I have a prenatal check-up tomorrow morning, and an overseas video conference in the morning. The deputy general manager of the German branch will organize the employees there, mainly to report on work. It shouldn't be a big deal.
You can first understand the business of the branch company over there, so you can handle them well tomorrow."
Gu Shiyuan scratched his head, "Okay, then I'll take a look tonight. It shouldn't be a big problem."
Gu Shiyu raised her fist to cheer him on, "Your German is good, so communication shouldn't be a problem. This is your first time holding a meeting with subordinates, so you need to be imposing and don't let them think you're an easygoing, easily fooled leader.
When a new official takes office, set fires when you need to!"
Gu Shiyuan understood the gist, "Got it, iron-blooded methods."
Gu Shiyu saw that he still had no intention of leaving.
"Do you have anything else?"
Gu Shiyuan was a little embarrassed to speak, but his sister didn't seem to be planning to praise him.
"Sister, aren't you going to reward me? I signed my first big deal in my life today! I remember when you signed your first contract, Grandma prepared a huge table of dishes and invited Auntie's family to celebrate!
She even prepared a mysterious gift for you…"
Gu Shiyu couldn't help but laugh at his aggrieved look.
"Let's eat first."
Gu Shiyuan let out a dispirited 'oh,' his initial excitement feeling like a bucket of cold water had been poured over his head.
Did her words mean there was nothing?
Never mind.
Don't want it.
I'll go back and ask Grandma another day.
Gu Shiyuan left with a disappointed face, also closing the door for them.
Song Yuan asked, "Your brother did well, aren't you going to praise him?"
Gu Shiyu said with a smile, "Not yet. I'll give him a surprise during dinner later."
Ten minutes later, Gu Shiyu went downstairs. In the kitchen, dozens of servants had been busy all afternoon.
Gu Shiyu didn't go to the company today, but she knew the company's affairs very well.
Gu Shiyuan's ease in signing the contract; her assistant had reported the entire process to her in detail.
Gu Shiyu had made arrangements before even arriving home, instructing the household servants to prepare dishes. All the dishes prepared that evening were Gu Shiyuan's favorites.
In addition, she had also prepared a mysterious gift and invited a mysterious guest to celebrate his successful deal.
Gu Shiyu watched the servants work. The pastry chef brought out the baked cake. She took the piping bag.
"I'll do it."
For her younger brother's cake, she would personally pipe the cream and write the blessings.
Several chefs worked simultaneously. The fruit platter was already prepared, cold dishes were ready, and the stewed dishes in the pot exuded a meaty aroma. Everything was ready, with only a portion of the dishes waiting for the last guests to arrive before being cooked.
The servant asked, "General Manager Gu, have the guests arrived? When should we start frying the remaining dishes?"
Gu Shiyu's cake was finished. She took out her phone and dialed a number.
"When will you be here? Dinner is about to start!"
"I'm outside the main gate!"
Gu Shiyu chuckled, "Then I'll tell Gu Shiyuan to come downstairs and welcome the guests."
After hanging up, several servants looked at her and smiled. Only then did Gu Shiyu realize her words had a double meaning.
Telling Gu Shiyuan to 'welcome guests' sounded like some improper business.
Gu Shiyu put the cake away and called out from the bottom of the stairs, "Gu Shiyuan, come down for dinner!"
At that moment, Gu Shiyuan was curled up on the sofa in the guest room on the second floor, completely out of spirits. How could he have any appetite for food?
Too lazy to eat, didn't want to eat.
He closed his eyes, annoyed.
Gu Shiyu called out to him again from a distance. Gu Shiyuan sighed, replying listlessly, "I'm on a diet. You guys eat, don't worry about me."
Downstairs, Gu Shiyu called several times but couldn't get him down. Just as she was about to go upstairs, Ji Qingxue's voice came from outside, "Gu Shiyu, can we make an exception and drink alcohol today, while you drink juice?"
Gu Shiyu said with a smile, "Of course you can. You don't need to accompany me. Eat what you want, drink what you want. I don't crave alcohol."
Ji Qingxue raised the red wine in her hand and shook it, "I stole my dad's treasured wine, so the few of us are going to drink until we drop today!"
The two downstairs were laughing and chatting.
Upstairs, Gu Shiyuan initially put on his headphones, but then seemed to hear a familiar voice. He took off his headphones and listened again; it was indeed someone he knew.
He sat up from the sofa, pricking up his ears to listen to their conversation, but then couldn't hear clearly again.
Would it be too fake if he said he was hungry now and went down to eat?
