100: Chapter 100 Reporting Day
"Oh! Yeah! Freshman Registration Day!"
Finn was like a dancing monkey, scurrying all over the school.
Ronan followed behind, pulling his own girl along. As for Olena, she was at the very back; on a day like today, she really didn't have the spare energy to chase after her own Commander.
Who told her to be part of the Disciplinary Committee?
Not to mention her Commander had been cooped up in the family for nearly three months. It wasn't so bad to let him out to get some fresh air now that he'd finally escaped.
Instructor Lauren rarely left them be today. Her job today was to act as the face of the school, putting on a stiff smile to welcome the freshmen.
However, judging by the faint dark aura emanating from behind her, she was already reaching her limit with this group of upperclassmen jokers.
The interviews had ended in mid-August. The incoming freshmen had all passed. Barring any surprises, even if they didn't construct a Ship Girl this time, they would inevitably be able to build or find one in the future.
Of course, there was another special category: those who had met Ship Girls in society or through some accident and established a bond with them.
This type could generally enroll after passing a basic interview, unless they had no intention of doing so and were willing to live as ordinary people with their Ship Girls for the rest of their lives.
Olena stood by Lauren's side. "Instructor Lauren, thank you for your hard work."
"It's fine." Lauren shook her head, her silver spectacle frames reflecting the brilliant rays of the sun. "Aren't you going to do something about that guy Finn?"
"I'd like to, but..."
Olena pointed to the disciplinary armband on her shoulder and sighed. "As long as he doesn't cause too much of a scene, I probably won't have the time to deal with him..."
"True." Lauren tilted her head to look at Finn, who was behind the railing next to the main gate with Ronan, pointing and whispering about the freshmen. Hadn't he been exactly the same way last year?
This kid had good grades, but he was just so eccentric.
The Maritime Academy mainly recruited students who had just graduated from high school or university; they were relatively... naive. Of course, they also recruited military academy students and veterans. There were older students too, but they were fewer in number.
So, almost every batch of freshmen was composed of all sorts of people.
The teachers in the school were already prepared for the welcoming work and the subsequent follow-up tasks.
Lauren's side was just the front line. Because she seemingly didn't know how to do anything except fight and teach, she could only be pushed forward to serve as the school's face.
And although she was strict, she was beautiful.
Do they like the 'black-hearted Ship Girl instructor' trope, bringing the strictest instructor here to play up an evil contrast?
Wait until training class, then you'll see, Lauren thought to herself, the smile on her face becoming increasingly stiff.
Olena observed a three-second moment of silence for the freshmen in her heart. She seemed to have heard that her own Commander had gone through the same thing.
No wonder he and Ronan came here together to watch the show. It wasn't surprising at all, not surprising at all...
Withdrawing her gaze, Olena went to inspect other areas.
Lauren had no one left to talk to, so she had to continue forcing a smile to welcome the freshmen.
"Cough, um, hello, teacher?"
A voice suddenly came from the side; they were probably looking for her?
Lauren turned her head and saw a young man with a black buzz cut... likely a young man. Although his face looked a bit mature, his sense of restraint made her certain he wasn't very old.
"Hello, student... is there something I can help you with?"
"Uh, I'd like to ask which way the Academic Affairs Office is? I need to process some IDs and handle some documents."
"Ah, I see..." Lauren pointed in a direction and watched him leave.
A Xia Person. Freshmen from there were becoming increasingly rare these years. The Federation seemed to be intentionally avoiding their special contact with Ship Girls.
She didn't quite like this behavior. Lauren had taught over a dozen classes of students, and the Xia students were all quite likable—they studied hard, and while their abilities might not be extraordinary, they could become the absolute backbone.
How about this little guy with glasses? He looked like an honest and simple person too.
But coming from the side... was he a specially recruited student? He seemed quite lucky.
Sighing, Lauren still had to stand guard, hoping he could find the correct office in the direction she pointed.
The Comprehensive Building was quite large.
"That... ha, ha... hello, teacher!"
Lauren turned back and saw a Ship Girl with sky-blue hair.
She was panting heavily. After catching her breath for a moment, she asked, "Excuse me... excuse me, have you seen a freshman with short black hair and glasses?"
She gestured his height. "About this tall, looks quite sturdy, like an old man..."
"I've seen him," Lauren replied, while sizing the other party up.
That looks like the Ship Girl Bureau uniform. Is she that kid's Ship Girl? To take away an employee from the Ship Girl Bureau, he's no ordinary person either.
"He just went toward the Comprehensive Building."
"Thank you... I see him! Li Ming, wait for me!"
She hurriedly ran away.
Quite energetic? Lauren rubbed her temples. It looked like she would have to deal with a few more high-energy fellows soon.
Turning back, she still had to continue her duty...
Finally, several hundred freshmen had successfully enrolled. Next, they would be guided by other teachers to move in with their luggage, and the opening ceremony would be in the afternoon.
The poor and venerable old lady Lauren could finally rest.
However, the first thing she did after stepping down was...
"acting sub-lieutenant Finn Hawke, acting sub-lieutenant Ronan Hull, come here for a moment."
"Gua! Run!" Finn shouted, and he and Ronan fled the scene at the speed of light.
But how could a human outrun a Ship Girl? So half a minute later, the two of them were already kneeling on the ground with their hands up in a TAT pose of surrender.
"Attention! At ease! Attention! Run to the training ground, 50 pull-ups. Right face, forward march!"
Watching the two of them perfectly execute her orders and run toward the playground, Lauren nodded with satisfaction. Although she knew they would disappear as soon as they left her sight, this was enough.
Loni looked at her nervously. Lauren just smiled and told her to just follow them.
As for herself, she planned to prepare tomorrow's show of authority.
Where should she start? How about five kilometers? Then medium-intensity physical training, to make them exhausted but not to the point of causing problems...
Walking slowly toward the Comprehensive Building, her mood was actually quite good today without those little rascals blocking her way.
Honestly, those guys all looked like they'd seen a ghost when they saw her. She was clearly a beautiful girl who would never grow old. Why did those flirtatious little fellows hit on every other teacher but run when they saw her?
She really wanted to properly discipline those little bastards who couldn't walk straight when they saw a powerful Ship Girl.
Speaking of which, was that Xia Person just now also in the Comprehensive Building? She was a bit curious; should she go take a look?
Well, forget it, that would be a bit strange.
Back to the office...
