118: Chapter 118 Clubs (3)
"Meow?"
"How did you get here?" Just as he finished talking with the person in charge, Li Ming saw a pink cat head peeking out from a corner of the parasol.
"Is this your Ship Girl's rigging?"
"Uh... yes." Li Ming nodded. "Glack, I'm heading out first."
"Alright, see you later, Li." The brown-haired person in charge nodded; he seemed to be in good spirits and was a friendly guy.
"See you." Li Ming waved his hand, watching the pink cat head jump down while holding the satchel he had left at home in its mouth.
Li Ming reached out to catch her, letting her climb up his arm to his shoulder before putting the satchel on his back.
Taking advantage of her small size, the cat head burrowed directly into his clothes.
"Sigh..." Li Ming walked forward, waiting until the crowd thinned out a bit before whispering, "Didn't we say we'd meet at the cafeteria?"
The pink cat head gave him a side-eye, then jumped out of the satchel and ran toward an empty area.
Li Ming followed at a light jog. Once they rounded a corner, his head was met with a ruthless punch from Anshan.
"Idiot, you didn't specify a time. Were you going to make us wait forever?"
"Uh, my bad..."
"Forget it." Anshan rubbed her temples. "Looking at the situation, do you still want to finish looking around?"
"Definitely." Li Ming felt around his satchel and confirmed that the contents were empty—apparently, she had tossed everything aside when she brought it over so she could crawl inside. "Anyway, we can choose multiple clubs, so there's no harm in looking more. By the way, aren't you joining a club?"
"No, it's boring," Anshan shrugged. "I have A6 at home to play games with me. What's there to do in a club?"
"Fair enough..." It felt like he hadn't checked on A6 in a long time? Well, it had only been three days.
Speaking of which, doesn't she go out for walks? She should really step outside and see the world...
"But if I remember correctly, won't you fail to graduate if you don't participate and get credits?"
"I have my ways." Anshan was very confident about this.
"I think you're planning to solve the problem with violence." Li Ming was expressionless.
"Do I look like such a violent person?" Anshan flared up in anger.
"Yes." Li Ming remained expressionless.
Then Li Ming got bonked on the head. Anshan stood to the side with her back to him, arms crossed over her stomach, looking like she would ignore him unless he coaxed her.
Li Ming gave a little chuckle and then hugged her from behind.
"Done acting?" Anshan's voice was flat.
"It wasn't really acting, was it?" Li Ming thought about it.
"In front of others, you act like a saint, but with me, you're ready to go straight to the point?"
"Should I let go then?"
"...Hold me tight." Anshan was silent for a moment before squeezing out the words through her teeth.
"Okay, okay, holding tight."
In terms of feel, Anshan was clearly more slender than Fujian, and overall more well-proportioned, rather than just being 'huge' for the sake of it.
"Alright, hurry up and do your thing." After about two minutes, she took the initiative to pull away; clearly, she hadn't actually been angry. "Let's meet at the cafeteria at five. Don't let Z23 cook dinner today. If the cafeteria food isn't to our taste, how about we go to that Baihui Street you mentioned?"
"That works." Li Ming nodded. "If I remember correctly, there are not only restaurants there but also all kinds of snack stalls. It's worth checking out."
"Fine." Anshan walked around the corner, and by the time Li Ming followed, she had already disappeared.
It was as if she had never been there.
About five minutes passed as Li Ming cleaned the cat hair off his sleeves and clothes...
Why do Ship Girls shed? Li Ming couldn't understand it.
But now, he still had some places he wanted to visit.
After walking a lap, there was one last club he was quite interested in.
The Machinery and Science Creation Club.
For no other reason than this club had many members, recruited both Ship Girls and ordinary students, and...
They claimed that as long as there was an idea, they could put it into practice.
Moreover, their club wasn't even at one of these booths; instead, they had erected a massive sign far off in the plaza, and even brought over a mecha!
"Holy crap..." Li Ming looked at the mecha that had suddenly appeared in the distance. This recruitment tactic was certainly hardcore.
However, he waited for the crowd to cycle through, and only approached after the numbers dwindled.
"Hey, student over there!" A rose flew toward him as a Ship Girl on the platform leaned down and shouted at him, "Are you interested in learning about our department?"
"Oh... yes, Senior." Li Ming looked her up and down.
Compared to the other local Ship Girls he knew, this one was quite... open.
A black sports bra was barely covered by a thin blue windbreaker draped over her shoulders, unable to hide her perfect figure. Denim shorts only covered the part above her knees, while her toes moved restlessly in black sandals.
Her dark blue hair was tied in a ponytail that fell straight down her shoulder, and her orange eyes were fixed intently on him.
He looked left and right; the crowd around them had mostly dispersed, leaving only a few freshmen like himself still watching.
"Alright, now let us show everyone the latest masterpiece from our Engineering Department: Experimental Type 65A!" The senior stood up and raised her hands high.
The engines behind this nearly ten-meter-tall mecha—which was incredibly cool in both design and paint job—roared to life. Its head swayed side to side, and then with quite agile movements, it drew a specialized longsword and held it high.
With a swing, its arm dropped, and the thrusters on its back fired at full power. The mecha then hovered and performed flexible maneuvers in the sky.
Li Ming nodded, while the surrounding freshmen let out gasps of amazement.
"This is way more flexible than the Knight Type 62!"
"Duh, this is obviously an improved model!"
It was indeed quite good. Li Ming nodded, except...
Watching the staff on stage busy with introductions and demonstrations, Li Ming looked at the mecha flying in the sky, then at the nearby teaching and administration buildings.
Did the tip of that mecha's blade just fly past the window of the Dean's office?
The window of the Dean's office opened, and a sleepy-eyed Axiom appeared on the windowsill. She watched for a moment and then slammed the window shut.
And all of this went unnoticed by those on and off the stage—perhaps even the mecha pilot didn't realize.
"As long as the technology is reliable! We can make it happen!"
After a series of introductions, the Ship Girl senior made a high-profile announcement.
The upperclassmen watching from a distance had evacuated early, as if they were avoiding a plague.
Li Ming was silent for a moment before stepping forward. "I have a question! As long as the technology is reliable, it can be realized, right?"
He really wanted the technical data for the thrusters on the back of that mecha...
