4: Chapter 4 A Difficult Beginning

Let's go back three months in time.

Li Ming was still suffering through intense additional training.

Every day, aside from eating, sleeping, and directing production work, was spent training.

Thankfully, the Yellow Chicken instructors were still somewhat humane (?), they didn't push him to the brink of death, but instead reasonably controlled the training load to avoid completely exhausting Li Ming.

After a month of this, the over two-hundred-jin big fatty had dropped to 180 jin...

His face had slimmed down, and his whole person seemed much more spirited.

The base also gradually took shape over time.

The engineering droness labored day and night without rest, maintaining the base and clearing the surrounding 'obstacles'.

Finally, at the beginning of this second month, Li Ming encountered real guns.

Due to nearsightedness and astigmatism, Li Ming couldn't aim very well, so his shooting training results could only be described as average.

As he gradually grew accustomed to the training life, Li Ming's training load gradually increased.

To ensure the physical health of their own Warden Commander, the Yellow Chicken instructors also went to great pains. Another half-month passed, and Li Ming could now easily disassemble and reassemble firearms, and correctly use the weapons. Although his accuracy was average, being able to hit the target rings was a victory.

Of course, the most torturous part wasn't actually the physical training, but...

"Why do I still have to study (great sorrow)."

Yes, Li Ming was being forcibly fed strategic and tactical information.

The facts proved the results weren't good; Li Ming, with no foundational knowledge of tactics or strategy, found learning these things extremely difficult.

Gritting his teeth and forcing himself to study for a month and a half, Li Ming finally broke down.

A brief loss of control. Although he readjusted himself half an hour later, after discussion, the Yellow Chicken instructors determined they couldn't continue like this.

Forget about child prodigies; this was too difficult for an unprepared boy not yet 18 years old.

But the work still needed to continue. Fortunately, the existence of the Dragon Ship gave Li Ming the opportunity to keep trying and making mistakes.

In a month and a half, the entire island had been explored.

There was a large bay serving as a deep-water port. Although the island was mostly mountainous, there was still a large open area.

The highest point in the mountains was about a hundred meters above sea level. Within the mountains were several mineral deposits, sufficient to ensure the base's continued development.

War factory, shipyard, airfield...

Although they could only produce basic, outdated vehicles, the most advanced one was actually a mineral transport vehicle...

When the base's resource income finally turned positive, Li Ming still felt quite a sense of accomplishment, even though this was just the beginning.

Armored vehicles, aircraft, and warships... Forget about Kirin, not even a Grizzly.

The army's vehicles were the Chi-Nu T-26 and the M8 Greyhound...

As for red alert technology, it could only be said they needed to keep increasing the tech level, which required tech buildings.

There was technology from other factions too, but they also had to start from scratch.

Fortunately, the creator of this tech lock wasn't as insane as BVVD; at least they could gradually increase the tech tree level through military exercises (and the grind time wasn't that long!).

According to the database, this vehicle restriction was actually caused by incomplete information. If they possessed the corresponding blueprints, they could unlock them early...

Well, Li Ming certainly didn't have that data, so he could only honestly continue working.

At the end of the second month, Li Ming finally managed to establish a tech building and began research and development work.

Starting R&D from scratch was a long and arduous road.

Helplessly, this was the necessary path, unavoidable.

And after a month and a half had passed, Li Ming hadn't spoken a single word for a month and a half.

Taciturn, it was actually because he only needed to listen to orders, and work could also be done remotely via the box of shiting, eliminating the need to speak.

As time went on, the result was that although Li Ming became much more spirited, he seemed to have become much more withdrawn.

Li Ming wasn't Robinson Crusoe; he couldn't amuse himself alone on a deserted island for decades.

In a real army, at least there were brothers-in-arms. In school, at least there were people to talk to. But here...

Although Li Ming could understand the Yellow Chickens' speech, the Yellow Chickens actually had their own tasks to do, so outside of training, Li Ming was still alone.

No external network, no online friends, no friends.

Any distress could only be endured in his heart. Crying was useless; no one was watching.

The Yellow Chicken instructors could sense their Warden Commander's mental state, but they had no solution for it.

The Yellow Chickens with proper communication functions weren't actually here.

The first fighter aircraft.

The first small ship.

The first light tank.

The first tank company.

The first marine corps.

A Destroyer launched.

A flight wing composed of I-15 bis.

Flight training, and incidentally exploring the surroundings.

Ground combat training, personally participating.

Learning naval tactics...

Li Ming banged his head against the wall. He was about to break.

He couldn't stand being alone anymore.

But the work still had to continue.

The flight squadron discovered there were several other islands nearby. Two 'Litchfield' ships approached these islands, incidentally conducting open-sea training.

It must be said, the navy's fuel consumption was really huge. Fortunately, that small oil field could still supply it for now.

And just after this open-sea voyage returned, the Yellow Chicken instructors brought Li Ming some gifts.

A blue cube.

Li Ming recognized it at a glance as a wisdom cube.

Who left it there?

Li Ming didn't know, but...

After thanking the Yellow Chicken instructors, Li Ming needed to research how to use it... or perhaps her?

He researched for a good while but couldn't figure anything out.

He wasn't that trusted assistant of Anzeel in the game, so it was normal he couldn't understand.

Placing the cube on the desk in his bedroom, Li Ming leftβ€”he still had training in the afternoon, striving to shed all his excess fat.

After all, there wasn't much else he could do, right?

However, what he didn't notice was, the moment he closed the door, the cube began to emit a faint light.

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

"..."

Observer had been watching this place for a long time, but what troubled her was that she wasn't the only one watching.

"Alright, I can feel it. Pleasure working with you~"

The graceful figure standing behind her nodded, then turned and left.

However, Observer didn't show a helpless expression either, because...

"A Kansen I've never seen before... An impossibility suddenly appearing. You truly are more amazing than I imagined, aren't you?"

Li Ming, who was training today, was completely unaware of what he would encounter after today ended, and even more unaware that he had actually been targeted long ago...

It could only be said that sometimes fate is destined, although Li Ming himself didn't really believe in fate.

This was probably the beginning of a wonderful life...

Well, a not-so-wonderful life.
