268: Chapter 268 A Little Bit of Peace

Kuznetsov regretted putting these two bastards together, and regretted even more letting them squeeze onto the sofa in her room.

By the faint glow of her phone, she saw Li Ming and Ushakov lying together on the sofa in an extremely ambiguous posture. Specifically, Ushakov was leaning her entire body against Li Ming; it was hard to tell if this was driven by the alcohol she'd had or simply a natural instinct after falling asleep.

However, Kuznetsov felt the probability of the latter was infinitely close to zero.

But most importantly, perhaps to avoid waking her or pressing on his own hand, Li Ming had placed his right hand on her waist.

What did this little bastard say yesterday?

“Men and women should maintain proper distance.”

Proper distance my ass, suka! Are you just simply looking down on me, blyat?!

Kuznetsov sat up, initially wanting to kick both of these bastards awake, but she ultimately abandoned the idea, secretly regretting her decision to let this happen.

Seeing that the two were still sleeping soundly, Kuznetsov didn't know what to do for a moment, so she quietly left the room.

She had been taken care of by him for a while now; although it was a bit of a struggle, it didn't mean she couldn't go up and down the stairs normally.

That time was a complete accident, yes, an accident.

Breakfast... what's the date today?

She looked at the calendar on the wall: December 24th.

Christmas Eve.

So today... should I go out and take a look?

Or maybe I shouldn't cause them any trouble...

“...”

She turned on the living room light and suddenly thought of something, looking toward the bathroom.

That “pet” from yesterday...

Unexpectedly, the bathroom door that should have been tightly closed was open, and there were strange water stains on the living room floor.

“...?”

“Ping-pang!” It sounded like the clattering of jars and bottles being knocked over in the kitchen.

Kuznetsov pulled a tokarev from her clothes and crept toward the kitchen.

Just as she turned the corner to the kitchen door, she heard a loud “clatter,” followed by the door being blown open by a sudden cold wind, accompanied by the sound of a plate shattering on the floor.

Kuznetsov immediately ducked into the kitchen. The cold wind from the open window hit her directly in the face, blowing her hair back.

But she didn't care about that; she just quietly watched the scene in the kitchen.

The dish rack that was originally on the shelf below the window had toppled over, and the plates on it had turned into shards. Seasoning bottles were scattered across the counter, and a salt shaker was still spinning with the wind.

The window on the sill was wide open.

And...

A small head peeked out from the other side of the windowsill. Her hair was silver-white just like hers, and a pair of light blue eyes blinked at her.

“Hu hu...”

She smiled at Kuznetsov, squinted her eyes, and crawled back inside.

———She floated in, rather than “crawled in.”

She hovered above the floor, avoiding the shards everywhere. Her little feet beneath her plain white dress kicked in mid-air, and then she pressed herself against Kuznetsov.

Kuznetsov's tokarev dropped to the side. Her brain had temporarily crashed and failed to react to the cuddling behavior.

Click!

“Holy crap! Such a strong wind? What's going on?” Li Ming's voice called out.

“Kuzna?! Where are you?”

Turning her head, Kuznetsov saw Li Ming jumping down the stairs holding a crimson G36C, with Ushakov following behind him.

Then the two of them froze as well.

——————

Li Ming, like Sisyphus, was cleaning up the shards in the kitchen.

For some reason, he always felt like there were still fragments on the floor.

“So...” Ushakov leaned down and poked the little one, “what should we do with her?”

“Not sure,” Kuznetsov said, having mostly regained her composure. “But we can't just throw her away, can we?”

“I'm sure you definitely wouldn't do that.” Ushakov laughed, looking at the packaging bag Kuznetsov was holding. It was a large bag of muffins from Eastern Radiance that she had been reluctant to eat, and now she was feeding them to the little one piece by piece.

She was eating and eating and eating...

“Slow down, don't choke...” Kuznetsov wiped the crumbs from the corner of her mouth. On the other side, Li Ming had just finished dumping the shards into the trash can. Turning around to see this scene, he exchanged a look with Ushakov.

———They really look like mother and daughter.

———Yeah, they really do.

Kuznetsov's attention was completely captured by her.

“Ah, just like a mother...” Ushakov remarked emotionally.

“Usha, what are you saying?”

“Oh, nothing...” Ushakov hurriedly waved her hand. “I was just thinking... what should be done with her then?”

“Hmm...” Kuznetsov gave her little face one last pat and then looked at Li Ming. “Li Ming, come here.”

“Ah, what is it?”

“Since you brought her back, you have to take responsibility.”

“Me... me?”

“Hmm?”

“Fine, fine, fine, I'll take responsibility.” Li Ming gave up resisting.

“Hmph...” Kuznetsov gave a soft snort and looked at the little one. “Does she have a name?”

“Usually we call this kind of creature a Happy Evil Soul, or just a Happy Soul...” Li Ming said while taking out the trash bag, preparing to throw it into the large bin outside.

“Look, you two look so much alike, why not just call her Kuznetsova?” Ushakov pulled out a bottle of vodka, looking like she was about to do something mischievous.

“I refuse.” Kuznetsov immediately shook her head.

“Then how about just calling her Xiao Le?” Li Ming opened the door and slipped out with the trash bag.

“Isn't that a bit... perfunctory?” Ushakov complained.

The little one floated in the living room, observing every place she was curious about.

Kuznetsov wasn't very good at naming; she couldn't just call her Anna or Olga...

After a while, Li Ming returned. “I have an idea, see what you guys think.”

“What is it?”

Ushakov and Kuznetsov looked at Li Ming.

Li Ming took out his phone, tapped out a name, and pushed the phone toward them.

Snilight Leo-Lee

“What... does this mean?” Ushakov hesitated. “Snilight Leo-Lee?”

“The first part is modified from 'snowlight', and the second part is... uh...” Li Ming rubbed his nose. “Lee is my surname, and Leo was my English name given by my teacher when I first learned English in primary school.”

“Wow, Leo.” Ushakov poked Li Ming's face.

Li Ming rolled his eyes. “Call me that name again and I'll take all your alcohol.”

“Nooo!”

“This name is acceptable,” Kuznetsov finally said. “But you must take responsibility.”
