215: Chapter 215 Bullet Rain

"Whoosh β€”β€”β€”"

A bullet grazed the corner of the wall, startling her into quickly pulling back.

"Damn it, who are these people?!"

She was in deep trouble now. These weren't ordinary people; they were likely special forces targeting them specifically.

No matter how tough her physical conditioning was, it couldn't withstand bullets.

Now, she could only hope her teammates would hurry, and...

Throwing another flashbang, she used her superhuman stamina to quickly shift cover, then took advantage of the enemy's blind spot to run into the building.

The enemy likely had a drone hovering above, but she didn't have thermal imaging and couldn't find it. She had to take a gamble on whether hiding inside the building would provide complete concealment.

"Bang!"

"Huh?"

That was the sound of a G36C.

"Did Elsa arrive?" she thought, but she didn't know the situation outside, and a single gunshot didn't prove anything.

Outside, however, the situation was completely different.

"Damn it, the drone is down, Captain!"

"Don't panic, Big Red. What's the general direction?"

"No contact, Captain, but they are undoubtedly nearby."

"Understood. Eagle Eye, keep an eye on the surrounding buildings. Everyone else, stay alert. There's a shooter using what sounds like a short carbine, and their marksmanship shouldn't be bad."

"Copy that, boss." The sniper adjusted his scope and carefully observed the surroundings.

"Move fast. We don't have much time; those foreigners should be here soon," the Captain said. "Elephant, you and I will split into two teams and enter the building..."

"Bang! Bang!"

Two more gunshots rang out, and the Delta Force soldier known as Elephant fell to the ground, hit.

"Damn it! Eagle Eye?!" The others quickly took cover again.

"I see him." Eagle Eye's sniper scope found the target. The opponent was on a pole extending from the buildingβ€”truly careless.

He aimed the M200 and then...

"Thud! β€”β€”β€”"

"Target neutralized, boss." Seeing the opponent's head explode and fall, landing on a machine-gun-mounted jeep idling on the roadside, Eagle Eye reported.

"Captain received. Continue with the planned operation."

Eagle Eye breathed a sigh of relief. If the shooter hiding in the shadows wasn't dealt with, then...

"Bang β€” bang β€” bang β€” bang β€”! ..."

A barrage of bullets struck. Steel-core armor-piercing rounds tore through the cover, hitting the unsuspecting Eagle Eye directly, and the subsequent hail of bullets finished him off.

The low walls of the modern city provided no protection against them.

"Holy shit! What's going on?!"

The Captain, who had just entered the first floor, scrambled to find cover and observed what had happened outside.

But immediately following, the iconic sound of that 'Old Ganma' rang out again, and this time, the rain of bullets was directed at them.

.50 BMG rounds penetrated the walls, completely suppressing the opposition and causing significant casualties in the process.

Watching Big Red get torn in two, the Captain was furious. "Damn it! Golden Island! We're under heavy fire! Requesting sup..."

"Pop!"

A 5.56mm NATO round hit his head, and he slumped down.

Meanwhile, she nimbly hid herself, avoiding the lines of fire of the others.

"This support is really powerful!" she shouted, throwing a flare out, illuminating the room brightly.

The next moment, bullets were concentrated in this area, leaving the remaining Delta members forced to lie on the ground to avoid being completely wiped out.

Time passed, and the gunfire stopped.

Elephant poked his head out to observe. The machine-gun jeep seemed to be empty, but...

But it didn't matter. As more engine sounds approached, jeeps mounted with machine guns rushed onto the street. Mediation Force soldiers got out of the vehicles and surrounded them completely.

After exchanging fire with the Mediation Force for a few rounds, they simply raised their hands in surrender.

"Kate!" Elsa followed behind the vehicle, carrying her G36C and running upstairs with several Mediation Force soldiers.

"I'm here! Elsa!"

The big gal from the United States named Kate jumped down from the floor above. "Your support just now was amazing! I thought I was going to be done for here!"

"Just now..." Elsa hesitated, looking at the other equally bewildered soldiers. "The machine gun fire just now wasn't from us."

Kate was dumbfounded. "Then who shot it? Jesus guiding it with his mind? Or some new Chinese unmanned autonomous combat vehicle?"

"I don't know... but one of our allies was nearby... Didn't you see him?"

"No?" Now it was Kate's turn to be confused. "I didn't see anyone at all."

Elsa looked at the machine-gun Humvee, its muzzle still smoking, and hesitated before approaching it.

Raindrops pelted the gun barrel and the vehicle body, as if cooling the muzzle.

Besides just firing, this vehicle also had...

Elsa took out her flashlight. "Is the electromagnetic suppression around here turned on?"

"It is," Hans, who was nearby, replied.

She turned on the flashlight and carefully inspected the jeep.

...What was this black stuff mixed with white on the roof? She touched it.

...Brain matter?!

Damn it, what the hell was going on...

"Elsa? Are you okay? Why is your face..."

"It's nothing. Maybe he helped you out, but I don't know where he went now," Elsa replied, turning off the flashlight and quietly flicking the white stuff off her hand. "We'll thank him later. You should head back now."

"Eh? What about you?"

"I... Maria and I still have some things to do. I'll come back later."

"You're not taking me again..." Kate lowered her head. "Well, you guys better come back safely."

Elsa's gaze drifted. "Yeah, I promise."

Letting her follow the main force to escort the prisoners away, Kate walked off. Elsa looked at Hans, who still wanted to say something. "Hans, please tell the commander that Maria has fallen ill, and that friend and I are taking care of her. Please don't worry."

"No wonder you had to hide it from her," Hans looked at Kate in the distance, who was in low spirits. "She'd be worried to death if she knew."

Hans looked at the vehicle. An engineer was studying it. "Strange, this car was broken before, but now... it seems like it's been repaired?"

The engineer looked at Elsa. "There's still fuel in the car. Should we drive it back?"

"...Drive it back. Be sure to clean it up. I'll leave on my own; you don't need to worry about me."

"Got it. I'll report to the commander."

"Thank you for the trouble."
