280: Chapter 280 Echoes of the Past

"Everyone, maintain order! Do not push! We will ensure everyone gets out!"

The police officer stood under the blood-colored night sky, shouting into a megaphone at the road.

As the crimson hue spread, people who had just been immersed in the Christmas atmosphere had to hurriedly pack their belongings and leave their homes.

However, due to the blizzard and the weather, the Rus military police were unable to clear a road system sufficient for such a large-scale evacuation in a short time.

"Sheriff Rosledsky, how is the situation?" Ushakov appeared on the scene once again, her expression not looking very good.

This environment didn't seem to have a significant effect on humans, but Ushakov felt waves of discomfort.

"The snow removal equipment is already working as hard as it can!" Rosledsky shouted. "But there are too many people now! We still need time!"

"There isn't much time left! Something has gone wrong in the direction of Severomorsk, and now we must find a way as soon as possible!"

"Suka! There's no way!" Rosledsky was overwhelmed. "We don't have enough fuel! Even the flamethrowers won't work!"

"...Damn it." Ushakov looked left and right. She hadn't brought any fuel either, and her rigging's power system was also dead, unable to provide any heat.

"Sheriff! We have a situation!" A police officer ran over in a hurry. "Tanks... there are tanks!"

"Tanks... tanks are useless anyway... Are they reinforcements from another direction?"

"No! It's T-34s! A lot of T-34s!"

"Huh?"

Rosledsky opened his mouth wide, and he and Ushakov exchanged a glance.

"I'll go take a look, you organize the defensive line!" Ushakov stepped through the snow towards the direction the officer had come from.

Before long, Ushakov ran back.

"Push all the snowplows to the side of the road! Move quickly!"

Several T-34s drove out from the forests on both sides of the road. Under the headlights, their hulls were painted with yellow markings. After the snowplows were pushed aside, four T-34s lined up and stopped in front of the evacuation vehicles.

Many young people leaned out of their cars, looking at this scene with curiosity.

"Officer Ushakov, this is..."

Watching Ushakov walk back, Rosledsky asked with some confusion.

"Watch closely." Ushakov didn't explain much further. Then, accompanied by a burst of heat, the bow machine gun ports of the four T-34 tanks began to spew fire.

The snow frozen on the road began to melt rapidly, and then the T-34s began to slowly advance.

Several more T-34s drove out from behind and headed off into the distance.

Cheers erupted from the crowd, and under the command of a recovered Rosledsky, the officers drove police cars to guide the convoy forward.

OT-34 flamethrower tanks.

Emergency vehicles urgently produced from the Carpathian Mountains, sent over along with other units.

Ushakov looked toward the forest; a black shadow was watching her quietly, then disappeared into the darkness.

Mercury Memorial Meta...

" (Static)... Wu Sha? Wu Sha? Can you hear me?"

Kuznetsov's voice came through the radio.

"I'm here, Marshal. Has communication been restored?"

"To be precise, the surrounding communication has been restored," Kuznetsov said. "I need real-time information from your side."

"Understood. Mercury Memorial Meta has brought dozens of OT-34 flamethrower tanks here, and the evacuation work has resumed, but it will still take time."

"Received. You need to speed up. The observation post reports that the experimental unmanned combat units in Severomorsk are out of control and are moving toward Murmansk. Considering their uncontrollability, I want you to be prepared and do your best."

"Understood."

After moving forward for a while, Ushakov saw a large number of light sources appearing in the distance to the side of the road.

Looking closely, it was actually dozens of tanks marching in formation.

The OT-34s stopped to wait for the tanks to pass first, avoiding traffic congestion.

Now Ushakov suddenly realized one thing: Li Ming must be somewhere nearby, directing all of this.

A tiger ii tank led the way, followed by Sherman tanks that looked armed similarly to BMPTs.

Based on the Skink, while retaining the quad 20mm autocannons, they were externally mounted with eight 75mm recoilless rifles, with slat armor around them, slowly driving past the road behind the tiger ii tank and heading to the other side.

"Suka, what the hell is that... a tiger ii tank?" Rosledsky smacked his lips. "Why are there Shermans too? Are these reinforcements? What on earth is their background?"

Ushakov shook her head. "Don't ask too many questions. I'll leave the command here to you; I'm going to handle more urgent matters."

"Understood, Officer."

Ushakov stepped through the snow and left, heading to where she was needed more.

Rosledsky watched her back, then looked at the tracks left by the tank group. Two Mi-28s flew over in the sky, appearing to observe the tank group for quite a while, but in the end, they did not attack.

On the other side...

Northern Fleet, Command Center.

"Where did you run off to?"

Watching Li Ming walk in, dusty and travel-worn, after passing through the NBC decontamination, Kuznetsov put down the chaotic mess at hand, walked over, and patted his clothes up and down. "...It's good that you're okay."

"The situation is very bad." Li Ming shook his head. "Those unmanned units are hovering, which means they can travel by water to approach quickly. Calculating from this angle, we don't have much time."

"I know. But before all civilians are evacuated, we must hold several key traffic junctions."

"I am gathering as many people as I can." Li Ming looked at her, then at Pamir and Snai nearby. "But there are only some old guys from World War II."

"That's enough. Leave the coordination issues to me. Tell me the markings, and I will convey them."

"T-34s, Shermans, tiger ii tanks... in short, they are all World War II stuff. There shouldn't be any problems on the ground, but on the water, we can only rely on you for now."

"The coastal defense forces and the second-line garrisons are already in place... What is the situation outside now?"

"That's what I wanted to say. You must evacuate after three hours."

Li Ming walked to the console and pointed in the direction of Severomorsk. "The previous shockwave was just the first round. These substances in the air are currently only making you feel uncomfortable, but after the higher concentration substances arrive later, it will directly affect your state."

"No. This is the only information center in the Murmansk region that can contact combat units; we cannot evacuate from here." Kuznetsov shook her head.

Li Ming looked at her, then at Pamir, who nodded gently.

He turned around and walked out again. "Stay in the NBC shelter as much as possible; I'll go think of a way."

Kuznetsov reached out as if to grab him, but in the end, she gently put her hand down.

"...Stay safe."

"I can't die."
