89: Encountering the Abyss Party Again

The Second Prince let out a miserable scream and collapsed to the ground.

Taking advantage of the light from the explosion, Elder Shen quickly scanned the room and discovered a mechanism.

He groped his way to the mechanism and pulled it forcefully; instantly, the lights flared up as three candelabras descended from the ceiling.

With the room bright again, the group quickly looked toward where the Second Prince had fallen.

They saw the Second Prince's entire upper body was charred black; his long golden hair, in particular, had turned into a scorched bird's nest, and his face was so blackened that his features were unrecognizable.

Elder Shen hastily cast a Slow Heal skill on the Second Prince.

Looking around the room again, there were no statue guards, only several bizarrely shaped Goblins.

A blue-gray skinned Goblin with black cloth strips wrapped around its body suddenly threw a dart the moment the lights came on, accurately hitting Commander Ma's shoulder.

Another pitch-black Goblin was holding a bomb, which it also threw toward the group.

The strangest one was a purple-skinned Goblin wearing goggles; after the lights came on, it seemed to go mad, desperately running toward the mechanism.

Having been attacked, Commander Ma immediately stepped forward with a Mountain Collapse Strike, knocking down the two Throwing Goblins and preparing to finish them off.

However, Elder Shen pointed at the purple Goblin and shouted, "Stop him!"

Captain Yang saw that the Goblin was frantically pushing the mechanism, trying to turn the lights off again.

Captain Yang immediately stepped forward and delivered a Whip Kick, striking the Goblin directly.

The Goblin let out a scream and was actually kicked to death in a single blow.

Captain Yang was a bit dazed and scratched his head, saying, "Looking at its appearance, I thought it would be quite powerful. I didn't expect it to be so weak, even worse than a normal Goblin."

Commander Ma also killed the two Throwing Goblins and said, "These two as well; they have no means of attack once you get close. They're very weak."

Under the effect of Slow Heal, the Second Prince's appearance was restored. He analyzed, "It seems these types of Goblins only excel at ambushing in the dark. Once there's light, they have no tricks left."

The four entered the next room, which still contained those statue guards, only in greater numbers.

Using the same method, Captain Yang activated all the statues, then worked with the Second Prince and Commander Ma to surround and kill them, clearing the room with great ease.

Upon arriving in the next room, it was once again pitch black.

"Dammit, this again! Quick, find the mechanism!" the Second Prince cursed.

All four of them began groping around to search.

During this time, they could occasionally hear the sound of things landing on the floor nearby. Fearing they might be bombs, everyone quickly moved away as soon as they heard the sound.

The darts were quite annoying; before they could find the mechanism, several of them had been hit a few times.

With a rattling sound, the chandelier above descended, and light returned to the room. Having been ambushed in the dark and filled with suppressed rage, the group quickly looked around, wanting to find those Goblins.

But after looking around, they didn't see any monsters at all, except for a strange Steel Pillar.

"What's going on? Where are the monsters?" the Second Prince asked in confusion.

"I don't know. There were clearly monsters ambushing us with darts just now, I even... Ah!" Commander Ma was mid-sentence when he suddenly let out a scream.

The others quickly looked over and saw another dart stuck in him.

Commander Ma looked in the direction the dart had come from and pointed upward, cursing loudly, "These despicable fellows! There, on the chandeliers!"

The Second Prince looked up and indeed found a Goblin standing on each of the three chandeliers on the ceiling, sneakily aiming darts at them.

"Dammit, they really are despicable!" the Second Prince cursed, immediately raising his gun to fire.

After a few shots, the Goblins on the chandeliers were knocked down. Before they could even get up, they were slain by Captain Yang and Commander Ma.

Seeing no other enemies in the room, the group curiously gathered around the Steel Pillar in the center of the room and began to study it.

This Giant Steel Pillar stood right in the center of the room, looking completely out of place with its surroundings.

The Second Prince touched it curiously and said, "Strange, I feel like this thing is unusual, but I can't quite put my finger on what's wrong."

Elder Shen, however, saw the Light Gate leading to the next room and said, "There shouldn't be any other monsters. The Light Gate to the next room has already opened."

The Second Prince took a look and had to set aside his curiosity, saying, "Forget it, let's just keep moving forward."

Commander Ma could only give up his research; he tapped the Giant Steel Pillar with his Greatsword and gave up.

"Wait!" Captain Yang suddenly shouted.

The group turned back curiously to look at Captain Yang.

"When his sword tapped the pillar just now, I saw a flash of white light in the cracks of the pillar!" Captain Yang said quickly.

Hearing this, the group curiously surrounded the pillar again and looked closely.

Seeing the pillar still looked the same, the Second Prince said skeptically, "You must have seen wrong. Don't waste time, let's go!"

Captain Yang turned to Commander Ma and said, "Try striking it with your sword again!"

Commander Ma was obedient; he swung his Greatsword, and with a 'ding', it struck the pillar.

The pillar suddenly cracked slightly, and a burst of white light erupted.

"Hey, it really is! Don't stop, strike it a few more times," the Second Prince said excitedly.

After Commander Ma struck it a few more times, several Skeleton Monsters wearing tattered robes and holding staffs suddenly appeared from within the pillar.

As soon as they appeared, one of the Skeleton Monsters thrust its staff into the ground toward Commander Ma. The staff emitted a purple light, and Commander Ma actually collapsed to the ground with a thud, immediately beginning to snore.

The Second Prince had been leaning over the pillar studying it, and when the Skeleton Monsters appeared, he happened to end up face-to-face with one. Startled, he scrambled backward and fell onto his backside.

Elder Shen and Captain Yang reacted quickly, immediately attacking the Skeleton Monsters.

Captain Yang delivered an Uppercut, sending the Skeleton Monster that was near the sleeping Commander Ma flying.

Elder Shen was even more impressive; he suddenly swung the massive Cross in his hands, and with one blow, he sent all the Skeleton Monsters flying.

"Don't just sit there! Attack!" Elder Shen shouted at the Second Prince on the ground.

Only then did the Second Prince react. He scrambled up and cast the Silver Bullet skill on his bullets.

He raised his gun and began shooting at the Skeleton Monsters.

The light-attribute attack attached to the Silver Bullets dealt massive damage to the skeletons; after a few shots from the Second Prince, one Skeleton Monster fell apart and disappeared.

Commander Ma also opened his eyes as that Skeleton Monster died. He climbed up from the ground, wondering, "How did I fall asleep?"

The others were in no mood to answer him, all of them desperately attacking the Skeleton Monsters in front of them.

Elder Shen stood to the side, casting Weapon Blessing and Slow Heal on the group.

The Skeleton Monsters were wiped out in a short while.
