206: General, they call themselves Hydra.
Cai Nai merely smiled indifferently at Chen Jianwen's words. Back when he was struggling in the Golden Triangle, it had been incredibly difficult. Couldn't he enjoy himself now?
"Come on, let's not talk about that for now. You must be hungry, right? Let's go upstairs and talk while we eat. I have a few more friends coming over today; I'll introduce you to them when they arrive."
Chen Jianwen couldn't help but furrow his brows upon hearing this, though he quickly composed himself. "Oh? More friends are coming? Do I know them?"
"There's one you don't know, but this is their first time coming to see me, too. Let's not talk about that for now; you'll see when they arrive."
Seeing that the other party didn't want to elaborate, Chen Jianwen didn't press the issue. Although they appeared to be laughing and chatting like brothers whenever they met, they both knew that everything was built upon mutual interests.
Once one side infringed upon the other's interests, they would undoubtedly turn into enemies immediately.
Soon, they all took their seats. After a few rounds of drinks, Chen Jianwen pulled A-Tai over and introduced him: "General Cai Nai, let me introduce someone to you. This is my confidant, A-Tai. From now on, he will take my place in our partnership."
Upon hearing this, Cai Nai curiously looked up to examine the man before him. He had sharp facial features and bulging temples—a clear sign of an expert fighter.
However, in his eyes, even the greatest martial arts master was no match for a blade, and no matter how well one could fight, it was always just a matter of a single bullet.
"Hahaha, A-Tai, is it? Not bad, not bad. Truly, heroes are born in youth. You're bound to accomplish great things in the future. I look forward to working with you."
As he spoke, he picked up the wine on the table and poured the other man a glass. "Come, let's have a drink."
A-Tai was somewhat flattered; he quickly took the glass, clinked it against Cai Nai's, and downed it in one gulp.
"Hahahaha, Boss Chen, you've picked a fine young man. But, are you planning to retire? The profits in this line of work are so high—are you tired of making money?"
Chen Jianwen stepping down to make way for a successor was something Cai Nai had never expected. After all, it was easy to step down but hard to rise; power was something that people became obsessed with.
If it were him, he would never hand over his current position to anyone else.
That would make him feel insecure; one's own life must be firmly in one's own hands.
"The General makes a fair point, but money is endless. Besides, people get old eventually. One has to give oneself a chance to enjoy one's later years, right?"
Seeing Chen Jianwen say this, Cai Nai did not refute him, merely nodding silently.
Screech—! Just then, the sound of brakes came from outside.
A second later, a soldier trotted in. "General, they have arrived."
"Hmm. Bring them over."
Cai Nai replied indifferently to the soldier's report, showing no intention of standing up.
This showed that Chen Jianwen's status in his heart was far higher than the others.
Before long, a group of eight people were led in by the soldier.
"Hahaha, General! Long time no see. I hope you've been well."
A bald man laughed heartily as soon as he entered.
Then, his gaze swept over to Chen Jianwen, who was sitting to the side. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly. "Yo, I didn't expect Boss Chen to be here so early this time."
Chen Jianwen's hand paused with the glass. He looked up and glanced at the man who had spoken. Just as the man expected him to say something, Chen Jianwen turned his head and chose to remain silent.
"What is the meaning of this?"
Seeing that the bald man was about to flare up, Cai Nai's expression darkened, and he drew the handgun he carried with him.
With a loud bang, he slammed it onto the table.
"Whatever grudges you may have between you, please remember: this is the Golden Triangle."
Seeing the dark expression on Cai Nai's face, everyone present felt their hearts tighten.
Just as the atmosphere grew oppressive, a man and a woman wearing kimonos stepped out from the back.
"You people are so rude. General Cai Nai, it is a pleasure to meet you. We are here representing the Inagawa-kai to discuss a partnership. If possible, we would like to take all the goods you have on hand. What do you think, General?"
Cai Nai was astonished upon hearing this. They wanted everything?
While that would certainly line his pockets, a monopoly was never a good thing. If he cut off ties with everyone else to accommodate them, wouldn't his economic lifeline end up in the hands of this so-called Inagawa-kai?
However, when Chen Jianwen heard the name Inagawa-kai, he couldn't help but furrow his brows. He had not only heard of this organization, but it was also infamous.
It was a criminal organization from Sakura; while its scale couldn't compare to the Yamaguchi-gumi, it was still a significant player in the region.
He hadn't expected them to come all the way here.
"Heh, you've got some nerve. You want it all? Aren't you afraid of choking to death?"
The bald man was immediately displeased upon hearing that they were an organization from Sakura.
He was even calculating in his mind how to find an opportunity to kill them once they left.
What infuriated him even more was that they didn't even spare him a glance; their eyes remained fixed on Cai Nai from start to finish.
But even so, he didn't dare to act out here, after all, he had nearly lost his life just a moment ago.
Cai Nai remained silent for a moment, then looked up at the two. There wasn't much to say about the man; people from Sakura were all like that.
He then shifted his gaze to the woman. She wore her hair in a high ponytail, and her slim figure marked her as someone who practiced martial arts. Combined with her cold gaze, she was, without a doubt, a rose with thorns.
Damn, what's wrong with the women over there? Instead of starring in adult films, they're learning how to kill and fight.
With that hot body, if she debuted in entertainment, she'd become a star in an instant and reap countless bullets from otaku.
Seeing that Cai Nai was hesitant, the woman couldn't help but speak up. "If you don't want money, General, we can provide you with weapons instead. As long as you agree, we will find a way to get you whatever you need—even tanks."
Upon hearing this, Cai Nai couldn't sit still any longer. "Are you serious? You can trade for tanks?"
He had enough money, but he lacked weapons. If he could get his hands on tanks, he would have the confidence to wipe out all the surrounding forces.
By then, the entire Golden Triangle would be his. Thinking of this, the corners of his mouth couldn't help but curl upward.
"Of course. So… General, what is your answer?"
"I…"
Just as Cai Nai was about to agree, the soldier who had reported earlier ran in again. Unlike before, there was a slap mark on his face, and one side of his cheek was swollen.
"General, some people have arrived outside. They call themselves Hydra, and they demand that you go down and meet them personally."
