368. Is Hydra a pawn?

Blooming everywhere, gunshots echoed one after another on this day, with artillery fire lighting up the sky.

The war came suddenly, but it ended just as abruptly.

By the time everyone realized what was happening, it was already a foregone conclusion.

Under the cooperation of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra, the regime was overthrown in just half a day; however, they had made ample preparations beforehand, or it wouldn't have gone so smoothly.

Inside the conference hall, Du Weien watched the familiar figure entering from outside and went to greet him with a smile.

"My Lord, you've arrived. How are things going outside?"

The visitor was none other than Nameless Pawn from S.H.I.E.L.D.!

"The cleanup work outside has already begun, and the military's blood has been purged. Tomorrow morning, when you take office, there will be no Warlords here, only regular troops.

This is an appointment list. The people on it are all rare talents who will assist you in governing this place. Du Weien, your achievements will be passed down forever, for this place is about to welcome a great Chief.

Alright, prepare well for tomorrow's events. I'll be leaving now."

Seeing that Nameless Pawn was about to leave, Du Weien quickly called out to stop him, "My Lord, please wait a moment. Should the remaining few be killed and replaced with our own people? That way, I'd feel more at ease. What do you think?"

Hearing this, Nameless Pawn turned his head and looked at him with a half-smile, finally waving his hand dismissively. "Whatever, make your own decision."

Having said that, he didn't stay any longer and turned to leave the conference hall.

Looking at the retreating figure, Du Weien secretly decided that once things stabilized, he would eliminate those individuals and replace them with his own people. Only then would he feel secure; otherwise, he always felt a chill down his spine, which made him uneasy.

As for who to replace them with, he would have to discuss it with these people when the time came.

Thinking this, he looked down at the list in his hand. He knew very well that once these people took their positions, he would be sidelined and become a complete puppet Chief.

But what did it matter? There was no turning back now. Even as a puppet, in the eyes of outsiders, he would still be The Chief revered by hundreds of millions, and his name would still go down in history—that was enough.

Myanmar's regime changed, sending the world into an uproar!

Especially the neighboring countries; their eyes nearly popped out of their heads. Was it really that fast?

Even a blitzkrieg wouldn't be this fast. In half a day, it was over before they could even react.

When the people they sent to investigate the details returned, the answers they brought back were even more inconceivable.

The perpetrator was actually a minister. They wouldn't believe for a second that there wasn't someone behind him.

"Investigate! Find out exactly who is standing behind Du Weien."

Various countries sent people to Myanmar one after another, making the situation there quite chaotic for a time. S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't care; after all, no matter how much they investigated, there would only be one result: Hydra.

After all, that was the truth, and the outside world already knew that Hydra had occupied Kokang.

Tomorrow morning, Du Weien would announce the unification. No matter how they tried to hide it, it wouldn't stay hidden, so they simply stopped making excuses.

By then, they certainly wouldn't consider who was behind Du Weien anymore; they would only think that he had been plotting for a long time, secretly cultivating his forces to make a stunning debut.

It’s just a mystery how they will feel when Wang Shaojun’s Carrier Strike Group appears in Myanmar.

Just as S.H.I.E.L.D. expected, all the information sent back by the spies pointed to Hydra.

"Hydra? Isn't that a criminal organization? What kind of waves could they possibly make? But then again, Du Weien used Hydra to complete the incorporation of the Warlords; this guy actually has some skill.

He even knew how to lie low. Those idiots who were cleared out didn't notice a thing. No wonder Du Weien succeeded."

But some people didn't think that way, for example, those domestically!

"Something's not right. According to the data from our subordinates, Hydra isn't just an ordinary criminal organization; their influence spans almost the entire globe. How could a mere minister like Du Weien achieve this?

The most terrifying thing is that he could develop so secretly. This is simply not something a minister could do, no matter how capable he is.

There must be someone else behind him. Hydra is just a pawn pushed forward by them. But even so, it's enough to be shocking.

Investigate! We must find out who the mastermind behind all this is. To be able to change the regime so easily, just what kind of divine being is this person?"

Unfortunately, no matter how they investigated, there were no results. All fingers pointed to Hydra, leaving them helpless.

Hydra didn't have much connection with the other Three Major Organizations. With the Dark Web involved, it was fundamentally impossible for them to trace back to S.H.I.E.L.D. through Hydra, and S.H.I.E.L.D. wouldn't give them that chance.

When Du Weien made the dirt on the Former Chief and those high-level officials public, all of Myanmar was shocked. What had been revealed in the conference hall was just the tip of the iceberg.

So, when the public saw this dirt, they couldn't imagine what kind of disaster would have eventually befallen them if things had continued like that.

Therefore, for Du Weien's actions, they had nothing but cheers, with only a very small number of stakeholders expressing dissatisfaction.

But they only dared to pull small stunts in secret, and these negative sentiments were quickly cleared out by Hydra... Early the next morning!

It was also Du Weien's first day in office. After making appointments one by one according to the list and positions given by Nameless Pawn, he issued his first order.

That was to renovate all military ports. As for why he was doing this, he actually didn't know himself.

This was a waste of manpower and resources. He really couldn't figure out why; they didn't have aircraft carriers, and the current military ports were actually quite sufficient.

But this was the order from above, so he didn't dare ask and could only comply. This move of his left the entire world baffled.

"No, Du Weien, what on earth are you doing? You're not thinking about developing the economy upon taking office, but messing with military ports? Do you have an aircraft carrier? Do you have a battleship? Do you have anything? You have nothing at all.

Have you run out of places to spend money? You just have to throw it into the sea to feed the fish."

However, despite the criticism, seeing Du Weien make such a brainless strategic move, they suddenly felt much more at ease.

Phew~ we thought you were about to rise. We were quite startled. This is more like it. If you were seriously developing the economy and military strength, then we'd have to worry. But if you're going to play like this, we support your decision with both hands and will even give you a thumbs-up."
