101: 101. Rules?
That night, listening to Yu Tianxiong’s report, Lu Feng smiled from the bottom of his heart.
A broken mirror made whole again—a good thing indeed.
“Old Lu, you’re smiling like a pervert. Is it… *cough*… Sister Xu… did she give you any instructions?” Zhang Wenfa walked over and offered Lu Feng a cigarette.
Lu Feng hung up the phone and waved his hand. “No thanks, Old Zhang. Don’t you know smoking is a fatal blow to male function?”
Zhang Wenfa’s smile froze, his outstretched hand hung in mid-air, then began to tremble. “Old Lu, are you serious?”
“Research indicates it is.”
“I wouldn’t believe anyone else, but I’m sure what you say is true! No, no, starting today, I’m quitting smoking!”
Zhang Wenfa immediately turned and handed the cigarette to Student Lu, who had just come out of the bathroom, then rushed to his computer to search, not even looking back.
Lu Feng chuckled softly. Back in his room, he turned off the lights and went to bed. Today was the first day of military training, with physical exercises and negotiations, so he was a bit tired.
Lying on his bed, Lu Feng habitually entered the dream space first, checking the red and yellow dream bubbles. He found himself somewhat like… well, an ancient emperor, checking memorials at a fixed time every day, using this information to control everything.
Sometimes, red dreams didn't always contain useful information, such as a certain school's campus belle secretly having a sugar daddy, or a certain department head and a certain counselor having a tryst in the office yesterday.
Such information was not very useful to Lu Feng at this point, and using it to threaten people would be more trouble than it was worth.
Just as he was about to exit, a newly appeared red bubble caught his attention. He clicked on it.
His vision appeared in a luxurious bedroom at night. Lu Feng watched himself lying on a bed, enjoying a beautiful woman stepping on his back for a massage, with the scent of sandalwood wafting through the air.
A moment later, a knock came at the door. The man in the dream got up and opened it. Lu Feng saw a middle-aged woman walk in. She was dressed formally, with an imposing demeanor, not the typical aura of an ordinary middle-aged woman.
Seeing this person, the man in the dream waved for the masseuse to leave, then chuckled, “Director, you’re here.”
“Since we agreed to each do our own thing, I don’t want to interfere with your affairs. But bringing a dirty woman into your home in broad daylight, are you trying to embarrass me?” the middle-aged woman said coldly.
The man lit a cigarette and said indifferently, “What are you talking about? She’s just a subordinate. We were discussing work, and when things got intense, she just gave me a few massages, nothing more.”
“Heh…” The woman clearly didn’t believe him but was too lazy to argue. She took an envelope from her briefcase.
Seeing the envelope, the man’s eyes instantly lit up. Disregarding the massage oil still on him, he immediately sat down. “Is it our turn this time? It’s been too long, really too long.”
The middle-aged woman moved away, disgusted, then said, “According to our agreement, you arrange for someone to do it, and the funds will be split equally.”
“No problem, whatever you say, wife,” the man said with a chuckle.
Hearing this, the middle-aged woman’s expression softened. She opened the envelope, revealing a very ordinary newspaper. If there was anything strange about it, it was that the date on the newspaper was not the current day’s, but an expired one.
The middle-aged woman spread it out on the table, turned to the social news page, and then began to read it carefully with a pen in hand.
The man next to her remained silent, also reading intently, but after a few glances, he shook his head, clearly not understanding.
Lu Feng didn’t understand either, which only made him more curious: what exactly were these two up to?
After a while, the middle-aged woman’s hand, holding the pen, moved, quickly drawing several small circles on the newspaper. In the center of each circle was a number.
One circle… two circles… three circles… she continued circling until the seventh one before stopping.
Then, she arranged these seven numbers according to a specific rule, rewrote them on the paper, and nodded, saying, “These are the 7 numbers. Empty the pool.”
The man laughed heartily, picking up the paper and scrutinizing it. “Good, good, good! After waiting so long, it’s our turn to get rich! Wife, don’t worry, I’ll personally have someone handle this! It will definitely be spread out!!”
“Be careful to keep it discreet.”
“You can trust me to handle things, hahahaha… Just wait to collect the money.”
...When Lu Feng opened his eyes on the bed, his brain was still buzzing, a little disbelieving. After a long moment of daze, he felt it was somewhat natural.
This world should be like this.
“Ah… so that’s how it is.”
His mood was very complex. If it weren't for his dream ability, he truly wouldn't have grasped some of the rules operating behind the scenes of society.
But this amount of information... it’s a bit too much... “Forget it, forget it, I won’t think about it for now.” Lu Feng closed his eyes again and fell into a deep sleep... On the second day of military training, the sun was even more scorching. Early in the morning, the sound of bugles could be heard echoing throughout the campus via the broadcast.
Zhang Wenfa knocked on Lu Feng’s door early in the morning with a medical report and handed it to him.
“My driver just delivered it. Hurry and give it to the counselor.”
Lu Feng looked at it; the illness was vaguely described, essentially stating some heart and lung issues, making strenuous exercise inadvisable.
He smiled and said, “Thanks, Old Zhang.”
Zhang Wenfa waved his hand and went back to sleep, yawning. He had stayed up all night playing games and felt he might drop dead if he didn’t sleep now.
Lu Feng got up, exercised in his room for a while, then got dressed, gathered his things, and ran towards the counselor’s office.
The counselor’s office wasn’t far. Lu Feng ran upstairs and saw Counselor Li Qian just about to enter the door.
“Teacher, hello, I’m here to hand in a medical report.”
Li Qian was a bit surprised, looked at Lu Feng, who seemed familiar, and asked, “Come in. What’s your name? Which class are you in?”
“Psychology Class 1, Lu Feng.”
After Li Qian sat down, she asked, puzzled, “Student Lu, what’s your problem *again*?”
Hearing the word “again,” Lu Feng knew that many people must have come to find excuses to skip military training.
He didn’t explain, just took out the medical report and said, “Teacher, please have a look.”
Li Qian looked at the obviously “well-hydrated” medical report, then at the calm-mannered freshman before her who didn’t look sick at all. Her eyes shifted, and she suddenly smiled, “Student Lu, military training is a group activity and a good opportunity to temper your will. This medical report… hmm… in principle, I don’t recommend taking leave.”
Lu Feng knew exactly what she meant and didn’t argue, merely asking, “Teacher, then how can I get my leave approved?”
Li Qian pretended to ponder for a moment, then revealed a kind smile. “How about this? I think your image and demeanor are quite good, and our school’s welcoming party is about to be held. If you help me with something, I’ll specially approve your leave. How does that sound?”
