31: 31. Something is wrong

Lu Feng received a call from the police at 5 AM.

He was exploring in the dream space at the time and was forced to wake up, only to hear the news of his second uncle's death.

Lu Feng held his phone, stunned for two seconds, thinking he had misheard. He repeatedly confirmed the situation and finally understood, feeling a mix of amusement and exasperation.

It was impossible for him to be sad. This guy was about to set his house on fire with gasoline; Lu Feng would be sick if he pitied him.

He could only silently think, 'What goes around comes around!'

"Xiao Lu?" His mother's voice came from the ward, tinged with weariness.

"It's nothing, just that Second Uncle died unexpectedly. The police called to inform us." Lu Feng casually opened the curtains; the sky outside was already a fish-belly white.

"What?!"

Lu Zezhou propped himself up and sat straight, his cloudy eyes full of shock. He asked, "How could this be?"

They were relatives who grew up together, yet ended up like this?

"This is karma! It's a good thing we weren't home, otherwise, if he really lit the fire, the consequences..." Lu Xiaoli didn't finish her sentence, feeling a chill run down her spine.

Their neighborhood was old and dilapidated, already having many safety hazards. If a fire broke out, not just their family, but probably the entire building would be gone.

Silence fell in the ward.

Lu Feng stood up and said, "Mom, Dad, please rest here. I'll go back and take a look, and cooperate with the police investigation."

"Okay, okay, Xiao Lu, you go. Don't worry about us here."

Leaving the hospital, Lu Feng quickly hailed a taxi.

"Driver, please drive faster."

Lu Feng was anxious not for the police investigation, but because he was more concerned about Second Uncle Lu Dahai's body, or rather, the kidney within the body.

It is well known that in organ transplantation, direct relatives have good organ compatibility due to similar genes, and the risk of rejection is very low. For non-relatives, the risk is much higher, so it is best to prioritize relatives.

After Lu Zezhou was diagnosed, Lu Feng had undergone organ matching, but unfortunately, his kidney was rarely unsuitable. However, Second Uncle Lu Dahai's blood type was the same as Lu Zezhou's, which greatly increased the probability.

"I must secure this kidney! And then, in the form of a relative donation, it must be prioritized for Dad's use!!!" Lu Feng secretly decided in his heart.

Of course, Dad couldn't know about this for now.

By the time the taxi arrived at Xinghai City Health Hospital, it was almost past seven. Lu Feng paid and rushed into the hospital.

There weren't many people in the hospital at this time. He followed the location the officer mentioned on the phone and found the third floor of the inpatient department.

As he exited the elevator, he immediately saw his second aunt, Li Huizhu, sitting in a chair in the corridor, staring blankly.

Lu Feng slowly walked over and stopped beside Li Huizhu.

Li Huizhu noticed someone beside her, looked up, and after seeing who it was, she suddenly stood up, looking at Lu Feng with malicious eyes: "You still dare to come?!"

Lu Feng sneered, "Why wouldn't I dare? You were going to set my house on fire; should I just wait to die?"

Li Huizhu was speechless.

"Let's talk. My dad needs a kidney transplant," Lu Feng said calmly.

Li Huizhu suddenly looked up, hating him to the bone, and said, "Your family is so vicious! My daughter was jailed because of you, and my man died because of you. Now you still want to cut out his kidney?"

"Five hundred thousand. As long as you sign the relative donation agreement, I will donate this money to you. It's enough for half your life."

Li Huizhu's pupils contracted violently, her lips trembled. She stared intently at Lu Feng, various emotions like struggle, resentment, and anger flashing across her face.

Finally, she hysterically sneered, "Hehehe... Too late! I've already signed the organ donation form! Two hundred thousand national subsidy! Hahahaha, this is your karma! You want Lu Zezhou to get my man's organ! No way! Never!!!"

As she spoke, she pulled out the newly signed "Organ Donation Registration Form" and held it up high, looking at Lu Feng with glee.

It was as if this was the only way she could avenge her husband and daughter.

Lu Feng frowned slightly. He hadn't expected things to move so quickly; it was already donated, and she would rather not take his five hundred thousand, choosing... two hundred thousand.

Wait... two hundred thousand?

Lu Feng suddenly grabbed her wrist and sharply said, "You mean your organ donation... the hospital gave you money?"

"Hehe... You don't understand, do you? This is a national subsidy!"

!!!

Lu Feng's heart skipped a beat, and he thought, 'This is bad!'

Organ donation is a public, unpaid act. It's impossible for the hospital or the state to give money. And looking at her registration form, there was no official seal, nor any unit's name.

Something was completely wrong!

Lu Feng ignored her smugness and urgently roared, "Which doctor handled this?! Which one?!"

Li Huizhu was startled by his expression and took a step back, reluctantly pointing to a doctor at the top of the doctor's notice board on the corridor wall.

Lu Feng looked over. It was an unremarkable middle-aged woman named Wu Juan.

The woman in the photo was smiling, but to Lu Feng, that smile was extremely unsettling.

"Where is Lu Dahai's body?"

"She... she transported... transported it away..."

Lu Feng immediately turned and left, no longer paying attention to the foolish woman.

He followed the signs to Wu Juan's office but found it empty.

He happened to see a nurse in the corridor, and Lu Feng stepped forward and asked, "Hello, I'm looking for Dr. Wu Juan. Where is she?"

The nurse thought for a moment and said, "Dr. Wu Juan just left. See, right there."

The nurse pointed out the window. In the elevated walkway between the two buildings, a doctor in a white coat was walking briskly.

"Thank you!"

Lu Feng ran to catch up. He needed to know what was going on with this doctor. What exactly did she intend to do?
