159: 159. Authentic Dog Warlord
“Boom boom boom!!!”
Somewhere in Fei Country, the deafening sound of artillery fire tore through the tranquility of the night.
A small town located on a vital transportation route was currently surrounded by a large number of armed militants.
Leading them was a dark-skinned Black man in camouflage, with eyes as sharp as an eagle’s. He had a thick cigar in his mouth, standing on a modified off-road vehicle, observing the area that was about to fall into his hands with a cold expression.
“Colonel, that’s where the last remnants of the old king’s tribe are gathered,” a subordinate reported respectfully.
Below the vehicle, soldiers carrying various AK rifles and rocket launchers stared at the town with greedy and hungry eyes, as if it contained endless gold, silver, treasures, and women, just waiting for the Colonel’s order to rush in and burn, kill, and plunder.
The Colonel exhaled a smoke ring, his voice calm and without a ripple, as if discussing a trivial matter: “Go. The usual rules: those who resist, kill without mercy. Those who don’t resist will have their left ear cut off and become slaves. All women will be gathered and guarded. All valuables must be handed over. Anyone who dares to hide anything will be shot on the spot.”
“Yes! Colonel!!” His subordinates shouted fanatically and launched an attack on the town.
Intense gunfire and explosions erupted, fire spread throughout the town, and desperate screams mingled with the unbridled, sinister laughter of the perpetrators.
The Colonel watched it all expressionlessly, his heart as still as an ancient well.
He grew up in this land plagued by poverty and war. His parents were brutally murdered by bandits in a tribal conflict years ago.
He yearned for power, longed to end the chaos, and for this, he joined the military as an adult, struggling to survive in the endless civil wars of Fei Country.
He revered the old king who ended the civil war as a god, pledging fanatical loyalty, believing that the dawn of peace had finally arrived.
But later, he discovered that the so-called peace was merely another form of dictatorship. If that was the case, then he might as well redefine order himself!
To seize everything in the most primitive way!
Just then, a Black man wearing glasses, who looked like a civilian, hurried over and reported cautiously: “Colonel, there’s still trouble at the Jialan Mine. The engineers we detained have been protesting, demanding their release. What do you think...”
The Colonel glanced at him sideways and sneered, “I don’t recognize any previous contracts! You want to continue cooperating? Fine, let them come up with three times the original money! Also, the people are in our hands now. If you want to ransom them back, add an extra ransom fee for each person! I need a lot of money right now to buy weapons and recruit soldiers!”
“Understood, Colonel! I’ll go tell them right away!” The man with glasses nodded quickly and turned to relay the message.
However, just a few steps away, he suddenly heard a dull “thud” behind him!
The man with glasses spun around abruptly, horrified to see the previously arrogant Colonel fall from the off-road vehicle without warning, instantly unconscious!
“Colonel! Colonel!!”
“Quick! The Colonel has fainted!”
“Doctor! Find a doctor quickly! Get him into the car and take him to the town clinic!!”
The scene immediately descended into chaos. The guards frantically carried the Colonel into the car. The off-road vehicle roared and sped towards the town, which had just been ravaged by war.
No one knew that at this moment, the Colonel’s consciousness had already fallen into a dream space dominated by absolute will... In the dream space, Lu Feng observed with interest.
He rarely saw people without a red dream.
This Colonel seemed to be naturally cold-blooded, or perhaps he had already internalized the law of the jungle, where the strong prey on the weak, to his very bones. No matter how much slaughter he caused, it seemed to leave no deep impression on his heart.
The yellow dream before him was imbued with the colors of power and material desire.
Here was a grand palace, resplendent and in the traditional style of Fei Country.
Upon a high set of steps, a jewel-encrusted throne was placed, where the dark-skinned Colonel sat, surrounded by a dozen voluptuous beauties who diligently fed him wine and fruit.
And in the vast hall below the throne, countless ragged people knelt, kowtowing incessantly like ants, their faces filled with fear and fawning.
The entire dream space was permeated with an eerie aura, which precisely reflected the Colonel’s truest desires... supreme rule and indulgence.
Lu Feng clicked his tongue in wonder, watching this local tyrant, and shook his head, “A true warlord dog.”
The Colonel on the throne also noticed the uninvited guest. He pulled a beauty closer to him and, from his elevated position, admonished, “Who are you?! How dare you trespass into my palace! Kneel before me!”
No sooner had he spoken than several heavily armed soldiers rushed out from the palace’s shadowy corners, raising their guns and pointing them at Lu Feng.
Lu Feng merely smiled slightly and waved his hand casually. Those fierce soldiers, along with their weapons, instantly disintegrated like flying sand, vanishing into nothingness.
Immediately after, the kneeling crowd below, the magnificent palace pillars, and walls also began to peel away in pieces.
The Colonel’s eyes widened in horror, unable to believe what was happening before him.
He watched as the mysterious young Eastern man walked step by step, and wherever he passed, everything returned to nothingness, even the soft and fragrant beauties beside him screamed and dissipated.
In a moment, Lu Feng, who had been ten meters away, was now silently standing before the throne, within arm’s reach!
“You... are you a human or a ghost?!” The Colonel’s voice trembled with extreme fear; this was completely beyond his comprehension.
“Me?”
Lu Feng looked down at him, his eyes as deep as the starry sky: “You can call me... the Lord of Dreams.”
Lord... of Dreams?
The Colonel gasped, his mind rapidly detaching due to overwhelming fear, almost waking up.
The intense feeling of detachment vanished instantly. The Colonel found himself still firmly trapped within this dream, unable to wake up voluntarily.
This filled him with terror; the other party’s control over the dream had reached such a terrifying level!
The Colonel’s voice trembled as he asked, feigning bravery: “You... what do you want to do to me? Do you want my life?!”
Lu Feng chuckled at his words. He had no interest in how this fellow ruled his territory, whether he was good or evil, nor did he possess any overflowing saintly compassion to save the people of Fei Country. His objective was pure and direct.
“You’re thinking too much,” Lu Feng said calmly. “I’m not interested in your life. But... I am very interested in what’s on your territory.”
The Colonel hesitated, “What do you want?”
“The Jialan Mine, I want it. Not only that, all the high-quality mining points, both proven and unproven, within Fei Country, I want them all.”
Upon hearing this, the Colonel was first stunned, then, suppressing his fear, he gritted his teeth and said, “No... impossible. That’s... my property.”
The warlord’s blood ran in his veins; he was accustomed to holding the power of life and death. When had he ever been threatened like this?
Even with the opponent’s strange methods, he stiffened his neck and roared, “Dream on! That’s my wealth! It’s the foundation I use to strengthen my power! Why should I give it to you?!”
“Why?”
Lu Feng smiled, a smile that sent shivers down the Colonel’s spine, “Because of this.”
As his words fell, the entire dream space suddenly underwent a drastic change!
The opulent palace instantly vanished, and darkness encroached, replaced by a cold, gloomy prison cell!
The Colonel found himself locked inside, just like a prisoner.
And Lu Feng stood outside the prison like a deity, watching him calmly.
Perfect, he would use this strong-willed warlord to test the extreme effects of dream time-flow control. Lu Feng was curious how long this absolute solitude and prolonged torment of time would make him last.
“Here, time is under my control,” Lu Feng’s voice was like a cold decree, announcing his fate. “One day in the outside world, here... it might be a year, or ten years, or... even longer.”
Having said that, Lu Feng’s figure gradually faded like a ghost, eventually disappearing completely into the darkness, leaving the Colonel alone and bewildered in the dark cell.
He reached out and gripped the iron bars, shaking them repeatedly, but they were incredibly solid.
“No!! Don’t!!! Let me out... Let me out!!!”
The Colonel slammed against the walls, frantically pounding everything around him, but it was all in vain. There was no response, no sound, only complete silence.
