55: 55.Who is Yu Tianxiong?

“A friend of mine is interested in a piece of land; he’s very optimistic about its development potential. He wants to leverage Donghai Group’s real estate development qualifications to partner with you and acquire this land,” Lu Feng said casually, his fingers lightly tapping the table.

Xu Ting, who had been smiling, froze instantly, her beautiful eyebrows slightly furrowing.

If Lu Feng had mentioned some small campus business, she might have dismissed it as a young man’s fleeting interest, but now it was land acquisition and qualification partnerships—capital operations easily worth hundreds of millions. This clearly didn’t seem like something a student would be involved with.

Xu Ting’s tone involuntarily became serious. She said, “Little Lu, tell Sister the truth, were you taught these things and these words by someone? Sister is worried you don’t understand and are being used.”

Lu Feng chuckled. He hadn’t expected Xu Ting to be concerned about him first. He explained, “Sister Xu, don’t worry, I’m not that kind of naive person. This is a long story. How about this, we’ll come to Jiangcheng to find you now. It’ll be clearer if we discuss it in person.”

Xu Ting pondered for a moment, then nodded and said, “Alright, Sister will wait for you.”

After hanging up the phone, Lu Feng said to Yu Tianxiong, “Let’s go, a trip to Jiangcheng.”

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to let Yu Tianxiong handle this, but given the scale of Donghai Group, Yu Tianxiong going alone to negotiate probably wouldn’t even get him through the door. However, he and Xu Ting could still use their slight acquaintance to communicate indirectly.

After the two finished breakfast, they went to the garage to get the car. Yu Tianxiong immediately opened the van to check the contents in the back. After ensuring everything was in order, he skillfully started the car and drove towards Jiangcheng.

Meanwhile, Liu Jinquan also received a call from a friend and headed to the traffic department.

Although he appeared normal on the surface, his hurried footsteps still betrayed his inner urgency.

“Director Liu, based on our investigation, the vehicle you’re referring to should be this one.”

The traffic police officer pulled up the surveillance footage. On the computer screen, an old, silver-white van appeared on the road. The image was frozen. Although blurry, after technical processing, the license plate number could still be faintly seen.

The traffic police officer reopened another video and explained, “This vehicle appeared twice at the same intersection, but the first time it entered at night, and the second time it left in the morning.”

“Can’t you see the person in the driver’s seat?” Liu Jinquan asked, his breathing rapid. He had a premonition that the person in this van was responsible, but the screen only showed a side view of the van.

The traffic police officer shook his head. “This is already in the suburban dock area. Many cameras are old and broken. Only this one is left. Moreover, this road can be accessed through many intersections. To check them one by one, I don’t have the authority here. Director Liu, did you lose something? I suggest you follow normal procedures first. Then, with two departments working together and ample manpower, we can check the surveillance at all intersections.”

Hearing about filing a police report, Liu Jinquan’s expression changed slightly. He suddenly laughed heartily, “No, nothing like that… Hahaha, it’s just some private matter… Anyway, thank you for your help. Please give me the van’s license plate number and registration number.”

After getting the information, Liu Jinquan turned and left.

Dealing with the police always made him uncomfortable, even if it was just a traffic police officer.

Back in his car, he directly called the van’s number. Soon, a young voice answered.

Liu Jinquan wasn’t sure if this person was the one who stole his money, so he feigned, “Hello, is the van with license plate number… yours?”

“Yes, what’s wrong?”

Liu Jinquan deliberately slowed his speech, pretending to be a bit angry, “You seem to have scratched my car when you drove to the dock last night.”

The person on the other end immediately became anxious. “Scratched? I rented the car to someone else yesterday. This has nothing to do with me. You should talk to him.”

Liu Jinquan narrowed his eyes, probing, “Who did you rent it to?”

“It was a rather distinctive middle-aged man named Yu Tianxiong. He gave me five thousand yuan and said he’d rent it for a few days. I’ll give you his number, you can talk to him yourself…”

After hanging up the phone, Liu Jinquan gritted his teeth, making a clicking sound, and slammed his fist on the steering wheel. The car emitted a piercing horn sound, causing passersby to look over.

This was a premeditated crime!

They must have been eyeing his money for a long time, even knowing to use someone else’s car as a cover.

“Yu! Tian! Xiong! Who the hell is Yu Tianxiong!!? Who!!!?”

...“Who stole, stole, stole my heart… unable to distinguish night from day…”

Classic music played in the car. Lu Feng sat in the passenger seat, humming along, watching the scenery outside recede.

Xinghai City is over 400 kilometers from Jiangcheng, a three to four-hour drive.

Although Lu Feng had learned driving skills in his dream, he could drive sedans, trucks, and even large buses, he hadn’t taken the wheel himself.

After all, driving without a license is illegal, and it wasn’t necessary.

Several months later, the car once again entered this familiar bustling city. Lu Feng rolled down the window, and under his guidance, the van slowly drove into the underground parking lot of the bustling CBD.

Then the two took the elevator straight to the 70th floor.

This building, the second tallest in Jiangcheng, is also an asset of Donghai Group, a landmark building in Jiangcheng that integrates conferences, hotels, and offices.

Those who can enter and exit this building are basically white-collar elites.

And floors 70 to 90 are all occupied by Donghai Group’s headquarters.

Of course, floor management is also very strict; without an employee card, one cannot go up in the elevator. Lu Feng and Yu Tianxiong could only reach the 70th floor.

As the elevator doors opened, a magnificent and bright reception area appeared before them. This floor was at least ten meters high. On the wall behind the reception desk was a marble carving of surging waves, and above the turbulent waves, a giant ship was riding the wind and breaking the waves.

This majestic design symbolizes the company’s ambition.

As soon as the two arrived at the reception, the polite receptionist looked at Yu Tianxiong and asked, “Who are you looking for?”

Only Yu Tianxiong had a somewhat presentable demeanor among the two; Lu Feng looked entirely like a student.

Yu Tianxiong didn’t speak, looking at Lu Feng beside him. Lu Feng smiled, “We’re looking for General Manager Xu.”

“Which General Manager Xu?” the receptionist hesitated. Donghai Group is a family business, after all, and there are many people named Xu. To avoid confusion, she asked a few more questions.

“Xu Ting. Oh, I should call her Chairwoman Xu,” Lu Feng corrected.

The receptionist was a bit surprised, subtly sizing them up before saying, “You must be Mr. Lu Feng. Chairwoman Xu has already given instructions. Please follow me.”

The receptionist took a key card, invited the two into the elevator, and then went straight to the 89th floor. They even had to transfer to an internal elevator to reach the 90th floor, which is the President’s office area.

Lu Feng clicked his tongue in wonder, curiously asking Yu Tianxiong beside him, “Did you have such a complicated process back then?”

Yu Tianxiong smiled wryly, “I was just a nouveau riche; I didn’t think that much. If I had been so cautious back then, I wouldn’t have ended up where I am today.”

Even a self-made person, no matter how capable, cannot surpass a family of old money, because individuals have limitations.

“Ding!”

The elevator doors opened to another luxurious lobby. Lu Feng noticed historical photos of the group’s development hanging on both sides of the lobby. In the most prominent position was a photo of Old Master Xu with a prominent figure.

There were security guards in black suits standing guard in the lobby. The receptionist led the two to a luxurious doorway and then said, “Gentlemen, please come in.”

Lu Feng pushed open the door, expecting to see Xu Ting, but found someone else inside. He remembered this person was Xu Ting’s personal secretary.

“Mr. Lu, long time no see. Chairwoman Xu is waiting for you in the reception room. And this gentleman is?” The secretary glanced at Yu Tianxiong.

“This is Yu Tianxiong from Tingfeng Capital, my friend, and he’s the one who wants to discuss the cooperation.”

Yu Tianxiong said calmly, “Yes.”

The secretary looked at Yu Tianxiong with some suspicion, then at Lu Feng, feeling that something wasn’t quite right.
