87: 87. Buy a car
“Xiao Lu, the cheapest one here costs over 400,000 yuan!”
Liu Dajun eyed Lu Feng’s faded jeans suspiciously. “Does your dad know?”
As a seasoned salesperson with over ten years of experience, he naturally wouldn’t make the rookie mistake of looking down on someone. However, Liu Dajun had seen too many young people impulsively come to look at luxury cars, only to find they couldn't afford them in the end. What’s more, this child in front of him was an old friend’s son, and he couldn’t just stand by and watch him make a mistake.
Lu Feng walked towards the black SUV in the center of the showroom, his finger lightly tracing the hood. He chuckled, “I want to give him a surprise, Uncle Liu. How about this one?”
“This one costs over 600,000…”
Liu Dajun hesitated for a moment and said, “Xiao Lu, it’s not that Uncle Liu looks down on you, but buying a car is a big decision. I think it’s better if you go back and discuss it with your family first.”
Lu Feng understood his good intentions and smiled, “No need, Uncle Liu. I can make my own decisions on a matter like this.”
Liu Dajun was quite surprised, finding the young man in front of him somewhat incomprehensible. However, since he had nothing to do at the moment, he began to show him around.
There were many cars of this brand, from sedans to SUVs to commercial vehicles. Liu Dajun introduced each one in detail, and even personally drove a test car for a spin.
Lu Feng didn’t really know much about cars, but he had ridden in many luxury cars, so he naturally knew what top-tier comfort felt like.
“Uncle Liu, do you have any cars that are not only comfortable but also very safe? And, it needs to be the top-of-the-line model.”
Liu Dajun smiled, “Of course. Come, it’s this one over here…”
As the two browsed the showroom, they naturally attracted the attention of other sales staff. At first, no one paid much mind. It was summer vacation, and college students often came to look at cars, simply browsing without needing an introduction, and then they would start chattering excitedly.
So everyone assumed it was the same situation this time. But gradually, they noticed something was off. Why was Liu Dajun so serious, and they were even test-driving cars?
“Could it be that this young man actually wants to buy a car, and they’re looking at high-end models?”
“Doesn’t look like it. That young man is so young, and his clothes are ordinary.”
“Could he be a frugal second-generation rich kid?”
Sitting at her desk, the top salesperson, Zhang Moli, heard this, raised an eyebrow, and turned around just in time to see Liu Dajun heading to the restroom. She thought for a moment, then stood up and walked towards the young man.
“Young man… are you looking to buy a car? This model is excellent, it’s this year’s latest, and the craftsmanship and materials are all top-tier. If you’re interested, I can help you place an order.”
Zhang Moli’s breath was like orchids. As she reached out to steady herself on the car door, she deliberately leaned over and propped herself on the car window, the cleavage beneath her V-neck subtly visible, showcasing her figure to the fullest.
Lu Feng looked back at her and said, “Where’s Uncle Liu?”
“Brother Liu? He went to the restroom. I can help just the same, and I’m a top salesperson, so I can get you a bigger discount.”
The salespeople in the distance all shook their heads. This kind of client poaching was indeed disgusting, but it was unavoidable in the workplace.
Just then, Liu Dajun emerged from the restroom. Seeing the situation, his face immediately turned ashen. He hurried over and said coldly, “Zhang Moli, what are you doing?”
Zhang Moli didn’t care. She smiled, “Nothing, I saw Brother Liu leave, so I’m just helping you maintain the client.”
After speaking, she looked at Lu Feng, revealing a sweet smile: “Besides, the client has the right to choose. Young man, do you want to think it over carefully? I can offer a few more discount points than Brother Liu, or, I can even treat you to dinner tonight to explain the car’s features in detail…”
As a top salesperson, she naturally knew how to deal with clients, especially male clients.
She had won over those older men, so there was no reason this young man wouldn’t fall for it. At his age, he was full of vigor, and as long as she showed off her figure a little, he wouldn’t be able to resist.
Liu Dajun also grew anxious. The other party indeed had higher authority than him. If Lu Feng really went with her to place the order, his commission for this sale would be gone.
Anyone would choose the cheaper option, especially since luxury cars are already expensive. A few percentage points off could mean tens of thousands of yuan, and who wouldn’t want that?
Lu Feng looked at her swaying work badge with a half-smile, and teased, “Miss Zhang, you have lipstick on your teeth. Also, no need, Uncle Liu, please handle the procedures for me.”
Zhang Moli’s expression instantly froze: “Young man, the down payment for this time will be at least…”
“Full payment.”
Lu Feng repeated, then turned to Liu Dajun and said, “Uncle Liu, I’ll trouble you.”
Liu Dajun was very excited and didn't bother with Zhang Moli. He asked Lu Feng to sit for a while, then ran around looking for his leader, negotiating prices and asking for freebies, finally securing the deal for 900,000 yuan.
This mid-size SUV had a very rugged look, and Lu Feng believed his dad would definitely like it.
When he saw Lu Feng pay 900,000 yuan without batting an eye, Liu Dajun was filled with emotion.
Lu Feng had always been the epitome of a model child. He never imagined that after so many years, he would become even more outstanding, and even… richer.
“Zezhou has a good son.”
“Oh, Uncle Liu, when can I drive the car away?” Lu Feng asked.
Liu Dajun thought for a moment and said, “Today we have to wait for the insurance to take effect. After that, you can get a temporary license plate. The fastest you can drive it away is tomorrow.”
Lu Feng thought for a moment, remembering he would be leaving tomorrow, so he said, “Then, Uncle Liu, could you please drive it back to my dad for me tomorrow? I don’t have a driver’s license.”
“Ah? No, you… you don’t have a driver’s license yet?”
Liu Dajun was truly dumbfounded. He had never encountered such a situation before, and could only nod blankly, “Then… then alright.”
After politely declining Liu Dajun’s dinner invitation, Lu Feng finally left the 4S store and went home.
The return bus swayed gently, and as it happened to pass the detention center, the barbed wire on the high walls gleamed coldly in the sunlight. Lu Feng couldn't help but think of someone possibly singing 'Iron Window Tears' inside, and he almost chuckled.
Funnily enough, not far after leaving the detention center, Lu Feng coincidentally saw Lu Hu’s wife, his paternal uncle, walking hand-in-hand with a young man downstairs from a mahjong parlor, a radiant smile on her face, seemingly without a single worry.
Lu Feng sighed with emotion: “Tsk tsk tsk… Poor Lu Hu, why bother.”
