145: Chapter 145 Dark Light Moss
Over the next few days, Su Bai visited almost every corner of Tianyuan City.
Not out of curiosity, but out of a Creator's instinct.
Searching for any resources that could make the Netherworld World stronger.
After finishing the Arena East Market, he went to the South Market. After the South Market, the West Market. After the West Market, the North Market.
Tianyuan City's Arena's Four Markets were trading areas specifically serving Creators, selling almost everything from faith crystals to world core fragments, and from Hero Unit enhancement runes to rare racial genetic samples.
Unfortunately, those who awakened a Yin Qi World and could become Creators were few and far between.
Su Bai had not seen anything for sale that could accept Yin Qi.
It wasn't until the afternoon of the third day that Su Bai discovered a peculiar stall in a secluded alley of the Arena North Market.
The stall was small, consisting only of a worn-out wooden table with several transparent petri dishes on it. The dishes contained plant samples he had never seen before. The stall owner was a woman who looked very old; her hair was entirely white, and the wrinkles on her face were as deep as if carved by a knife. Wearing a faded gray robe, she sat behind the wooden table with her eyes half-closed, looking as if she might fall asleep at any moment.
On her wrist, she wore a dark gold bracelet.
A Demigod.
But her aura was even weaker than Old Man Stargazer's. Su Bai couldn't even sense her rank; he could only feel a faint fluctuation of life, like a flickering candle in the wind.
Another dying Demigod.
Su Bai's footsteps paused for a moment before he walked up to the stall and looked down at the petri dishes.
The plants in the petri dishes made his pupils contract slightly.
It was a moss-like plant, grayish-white all over and covered with a layer of fine fuzz. The fuzz shimmered with a faint blue light under the illumination, looking like the flowing Yin Qi in the Netherworld World. The plant's root system was very developed, intricately intertwined in the petri dish's medium, with tiny crystal-like particles attached to the roots.
Su Bai could sense an aura he was very familiar with emanating from those particles.
Yin Qi.
"Are you interested in this?"
The old woman's voice was as raspy as sandpaper rubbing together, but there was a hint of surprise in her tone. She opened her eyes, which were a deep gray and so cloudy that her pupils were almost invisible. But when she looked at Su Bai, he felt his soul being touched by something.
It wasn't an attack or a probe, but a very gentle touch, like a breeze brushing across the surface of water.
Suddenly, the old woman's eyes widened slightly.
"Netherworld World... Yin energy core... So you are Su Bai; I've seen your matches," she murmured, as if talking to herself. "No wonder you can sense the aura of Glimmer-moss."
"Glimmer-moss?" Su Bai repeated the name.
"Yes." The old woman nodded, her withered finger lightly tapping the glass wall of the petri dish. "A moss that grows deep within the Land of Extreme Yin, feeding on yin-attribute energy. In environments rich with Yin Qi, it grows frantically, its roots reaching hundreds of feet underground to absorb, purify, and crystallize all surrounding Yin Qi."
She pointed to the tiny crystalline particles on the roots.
"These are the products of Glimmer-moss: Yin Crystal. Extremely high-purity yin-attribute energy crystals."
Su Bai's gaze fell on the crystalline particles, and he remained silent for a few seconds.
"Can this thing grow in the Netherworld World?"
The corners of the old woman's mouth curled up slightly in an expression that held both bitterness and a sense of relief.
"It can. But there is a prerequisite. Your Netherworld World must have a complete Yin Qi circulation system. Yin Qi Worlds below the Demigod rank cannot keep Glimmer-moss alive because their Yin Qi is dead and does not flow. But your world has the power of rules; the Yin Qi circulates and flows between the rules, so it is alive."
She paused, her cloudy eyes looking at Su Bai.
"Your world is the ideal growth environment for Glimmer-moss."
Su Bai didn't speak immediately. He was thinking.
Glimmer-moss absorbs Yin Qi and purifies Yin Crystal.
Yin Crystal can be converted back into Yin Qi or used directly as crystallized yin-attribute energy.
If this thing could truly grow on a large scale in the Netherworld World, it would mean his Netherworld World would have a stable source of Yin Qi. It would no longer rely solely on the Ghost Gate Pass to absorb soul energy or on Power Of Faith for conversion.
The energy structure of the Netherworld World would undergo a fundamental change because of this.
"How much?"
Su Bai asked.
The old woman was stunned for a moment.
"The price."
Su Bai's voice was calm, but his tone carried an unquestionable decisiveness.
The old woman was silent for a while before holding up three fingers.
"Thirty thousand Glimmer-moss spores in exchange for all adult individuals of one race in your Netherworld World."
Su Bai looked at her, expressionless.
"Impossible."
He turned around, making a move to leave.
The old woman's hand suddenly grabbed his sleeve.
"Wait! Twenty thousand! Twenty thousand for half! Half is fine!"
Su Bai stopped and turned his head to look at her.
"One thousand Ice Crystal Race individuals. The old, weak, sick, and disabled—you pick them yourself."
The two stared at each other for a few seconds.
The old woman shook her head slightly, feeling helpless.
Even in Tianyuan City, people who could grow through a Yin Qi World were still exceptionally rare.
Therefore, she couldn't sell this thing at all.
If her world hadn't been eroded by powerful Yin Qi in a secret realm back then, she wouldn't have Glimmer-moss, let alone be in her current dying state.
" make a deal."
The transaction was completed that evening.
Through the teleportation array of the Netherworld World, Su Bai selected one thousand old, weak, sick, and disabled members from the Ice Crystal Race in the Extreme Cold Ice Plains. Those Ice Crystal Race members' bodies were already semi-transparent, their Ice Crystals covered in cracks, and their flames of life were flickering. They had little value left in Ice Crystal Race society and were merely a burden consuming resources.
The Frost King had no objection to this. He even took the initiative to cooperate with Su Bai, picking out those who were the oldest, weakest, and had the least hope of recovery.
One thousand Ice Crystal Race members were transported to Tianyuan City. The old woman had already prepared the Glimmer-moss spores, contained in a large vessel condensed from yin-attribute energy.
The spores were tiny, each only the size of a sesame seed, grayish-white in color and coated in a thin layer of mucus. In the vessel, they floated like stardust, emitting a faint blue light.
Su Bai put the vessel into his world pod and watched as those thousand Ice Crystal Race members were taken into the old woman's world.
He could feel that after those Ice Crystal Race members entered her world, the old woman's life fluctuations stabilized slightly. It wasn't extending her life, but just temporarily stopping the downward trend.
Su Bai watched her back disappear into the crowd and remained silent for a moment.
He turned and walked toward the Tianyuan Arena.
After returning to the lounge, Su Bai immediately planted the one hundred thousand Glimmer-moss spores into the Netherworld World.
He didn't choose a specific planting area but scattered the spores evenly in the transition zone between the Underworld Space and the Living World of the Netherworld World. That was the area with the densest and most active Yin Qi flow, and also where the rule power of the Six Paths of Reincarnation was most concentrated.
Once the spores landed, Su Bai mobilized the soul energy from the Ghost Gate Pass, turning it into a grayish-white drizzle to irrigate that transition zone.
For the first three days, he irrigated it once a day with the rain condensed from soul energy.
On the first day, the spores began to sprout. Tiny grayish-white fuzz poked out from the spores, like an infant's eyelashes, trembling slightly in the Yin Qi.
On the second day, the fuzz grew into dense moss, covering the entire transition zone. Tiny crystalline particles, Yin Crystal, began to condense on the surface of the moss.
On the third day, the moss's root system began to extend deep underground. Through the world core, Su Bai perceived that those roots had penetrated the boundaries of the Underworld Space and the Living World, connecting the entire underground of the Netherworld World like a giant web.
The Glimmer-moss began to grow frantically.
No more irrigation or human intervention was needed.
The flowing Yin Qi in the Netherworld World was their nourishment, and the rule power of the Six Paths of Reincarnation was their growth hormone.
They took root in every corner of the Netherworld World: in the shadow of the Ghost Gate Pass, along the banks of the River of Oblivion, beside the piers of the Bridge of Helplessness, on the eaves of the City God Temple, at the entrance of the Tongue-Pulling Hell, on the edge of the Extreme Cold Ice Plains, beneath the Dragon Blood Wasteland, and amidst the ruins of the New Era Ruins.
Wherever Yin Qi flowed, Glimmer-moss grew.
Their root systems connected the underground of the Netherworld World into one, forming a massive, living Yin Qi circulation network. Yin Qi flowed through the Glimmer-moss roots, being purified, crystallized, and stored. Excess Yin Crystal were secreted by the roots and deposited deep underground, forming layer upon layer of Yin Crystal veins.
Su Bai stood at the world core, looking at the land being covered by Glimmer-moss, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly.
"It's done."
He closed his eyes, feeling the changes in the Netherworld World.
The addition of Glimmer-moss increased the Yin Qi circulation efficiency of the Netherworld World by at least thirty percent.
As soul energy circulated within the Six Paths of Reincarnation, part of it would be absorbed by the Glimmer-moss roots, purified into Yin Crystal, and stored underground. When Yin Qi was insufficient, the Glimmer-moss would convert the stored Yin Crystal back into Yin Qi and release it.
The Netherworld World now had a stable, self-regulating Yin Qi circulation system.
[Glimmer-moss has integrated into the Netherworld World ecosystem]
[Effect: Yin Qi circulation efficiency +30%, daily Power Of Faith output +2000 points (Power Of Faith generated by Glimmer-moss purifying Yin Qi)]
[New Resource: Yin Crystal (Reserves: Unknown, grows automatically every day)]
[New Uses: Yin Crystal can be used as high-purity yin-attribute energy crystals to strengthen yin-attribute Hero Units, accelerate the construction of Hell buildings, increase the defensive strength of the Ghost Gate Pass, etc.]
Su Bai opened his eyes and took a deep breath.
Two days later, the Points Race.
