5: Chapter 5 Yaksha Clan
The Creators Association building was located in the most prosperous part of the city center. Its thirty-nine-story glass curtain wall reflected the neon lights like a Tower of Babel standing in the mortal world.
Su Bai stood at the entrance and looked up at the massive metal badge.
A ring symbolizing endless worlds, with an ancient character for "Creation" engraved in its center.
He withdrew his gaze and stepped into the revolving door.
A school uniform.
A washed-out No. 1 Middle School uniform seemed completely out of place in the hall filled with people in suits and exotic attire.
A few Awakened who had just finished their procedures brushed past him. One middle-aged man wearing a blood-red cloak looked down at him and sneered, "Kids these days... instead of going home to do homework at night, they come here to 'gain experience'?"
A young man carrying a staff on his back chimed in, "Maybe it's a school-organized tour."
"A tour?" The man in the blood-red cloak shook his head. "This place isn't some fun tourist attraction."
Their conversation wasn't loud, but it was just enough to reach Su Bai's ears.
Su Bai's expression remained unchanged as he walked straight to the front desk.
The receptionist was looking down, organizing documents. Hearing footsteps, she looked up, her professional smile freezing on her face the moment it appeared.
A school uniform.
A face that was excessively young, still carrying a hint of student-like innocence.
"Hello..." the receptionist said hesitantly. "May I ask what business you are here for?"
Su Bai took out his student ID from his pocket and placed it on the counter.
"I want to open a war portal to an ownerless world."
The receptionist's smile froze.
She looked down at the student ID, then back up at Su Bai's face, her pupils trembling slightly.
"You... you just Awakened?"
"Just today."
The receptionist was silent for a full three seconds.
She had been in this position for five years and had seen all kinds of Awakened. There were those who excitedly ran to exchange resources on the day they Awakened, those who couldn't wait to take on missions to prove themselves after a week, and those who were still hesitating about whether to take the war path after a month.
But someone coming to open a war portal on the very day of their awakening...
This was the first one.
"Sir, are you sure?" the receptionist lowered her voice, a trace of subtle concern in her tone. "Although the ownerless world war portals are open for free, they are all graveyard worlds on the brink of collapse. Even though there's no living Creator controlling them, the remnant races will frantically attack any outsider to survive. Normally, an Awakened needs at least a month to evolve a rudimentary civilization and accumulate enough troops before considering..."
"I know."
Su Bai interrupted her, his voice as calm as if he were commenting on the weather.
"Just open it for me."
The receptionist opened her mouth to say something but ultimately let her professionalism prevail. She took the student ID and swiped it on the sensor.
*Beep!!*
A system interface popped up.
[Identity Verification Passed]
[Name: Su Bai]
[Age: 18]
[World Rank: Tier 1]
[War Record: None]
[Available Portal Level: Tier 1]
[Initial Portal Opening Fee: Free]
The receptionist operated the system quickly before handing back the student ID. "The portal has been opened. You can select your target world at the War Hall on the east side of the first floor. Do you need me to guide you?"
"No need."
Su Bai put away his student ID and turned toward the east corridor.
Behind him, the receptionist stared at his back for a long time. It wasn't until the boy in the school uniform disappeared at the end of the corridor that she whispered to herself:
"Monster."
The War Hall was larger than he had imagined.
In a space roughly the size of two football fields, hundreds of terminals were arranged densely. Awakened of all ages, from twenty to sixty, stood or sat before each terminal. Some wore heavy armor, some carried staves, and a few had small mechanical units floating around them, like a pack of sharks sensing blood.
Su Bai's school uniform was even more conspicuous here.
A few gazes swept over him, filled with curiosity, contempt, or wariness. But no one approached him. Anyone who appeared here alone was either a madman or a monster.
Su Bai walked to an empty terminal and pressed his hand onto the sensor.
The screen lit up.
[Welcome to the War System]

[No. 9527 | World Type: alien civilization | Remnant Race: Yaksha Clan | Estimated Number: 800-1000 | Danger Level: B]
Su Bai's gaze stopped at No. 9527.
Yaksha Clan.
He clicked on the details.
[World Name: Yaksha Realm (Original owner deceased)]
[World Type: alien civilization]
[World Grade: Tier 1 (On the brink of collapse)]
[Current Status: After the original Creator's death, Power Of Faith was cut off and energy was depleted. The world originally had a Yaksha population of about 300,000 with seventeen cities, and the civilization reached the peak of the feudal era. Due to the loss of Power Of Faith, the environment has deteriorated sharply, crops have failed, water sources are contaminated, and large-scale internal strife and plagues have broken out within the Yaksha Clan.]
[Current Race: Yaksha Clan]
[Estimated Number: 800-1000]
[Racial Characteristics: Yakshas are burly, with adults standing about 2.2 to 2.5 meters tall. They possess immense strength, dark green skin, and night vision. They excel in close-quarters combat, and a few individuals possess weak innate spells. Their intelligence is equivalent to that of a ten-year-old human child.]
[Current Status: Internal strife has lasted for three months. All seventeen cities are abandoned. Survivors have split into dozens of small tribes, killing and cannibalizing each other. They have reached the end stage of their civilization.]
[Danger Level: B (Although the population has plummeted, the remaining individuals are mostly battle-hardened warriors in a state of extreme hunger and madness, making them highly aggressive)]
Su Bai stared at the screen, a deep light flashing in his eyes.
Eight hundred to a thousand Yakshas.
If all of them could be converted into undead resentment for the Ghost Bride to absorb, she would definitely be able to advance to Tier 2!
By then, his Underworld would also become a Tier 2 world.
A world's rank is calculated based on the highest tier of the creatures within it.
Even if there is only one Tier 9 creature in the entire world, that world is considered Tier 9.
However, no one ever has just a single Tier 9 creature.
Because everyone's world evolves slowly from Tier 1.
Without evolution, one cannot independently produce resources and Power Of Faith. Without these two, a world's civilization cannot go far.
Su Bai hardly hesitated and clicked [Select this world].
[Please confirm the war target: Yaksha Realm]
[Upon confirmation, a temporary portal will be opened for you. Duration: 24 hours]
[Within 24 hours, you may travel freely to and from this world.]
[After 24 hours, the portal will close. If you have not returned, you must wait for the next portal opening (Cooldown: 7 days)]
[Confirm War?]
Su Bai clicked confirm.
A new interface popped up.
[War Preparation Complete]
[Please proceed to Secret Chamber No. 3 and wait for the portal to open.]
