93: Chapter 93 Shaking the Main God
While the Ghost King, Black and White Impermanence, and Ox-Head and Horse-Face were engaged in battle with the enemy deities, the allied forces of the five great races had already flooded into the Incense Divine Kingdom from the front.
The first to arrive were the Shadow Demons.
One hundred and twenty thousand Shadow Demons surged out of the void, scattering across the outskirts of the Incense Divine Kingdom. Their bodies existed somewhere between darkness and Yin Qi, appearing faintly in the golden light like a pack of hunters lurking in the shadows.
Shadow Blade hovered at the very front of the Shadow Demon army, his grayish-white eyes coldly scanning the fleeing believers.
"Target: Believers," his voice was as cold as iron. "No mercy, no hesitation. Kill."
One hundred and twenty thousand Shadow Demons simultaneously activated [Space Folding].
They vanished from their spots and reappeared among the crowd of believers in the next second. Sharp claw blades pierced through the chests of the believers, shadow energy eroded their souls, and Space Folding severed their bodies.
The believers didn't even have time to scream before their lives were harvested by the Shadow Demons. Their bodies fell to the ground, blood staining the golden earth, while their souls drifted from their shells, pulled by the power of the Ghost Gate Pass toward the Netherworld World.
The Shadow Demons' killing efficiency was extremely high. They did not linger or get tied down in combat; every time they appeared, they harvested a swathe of lives, then vanished into the void only to reappear elsewhere a second later. Their figures darted across the battlefield like an invisible scythe, reaping the lives of the believers.
But there were simply too many believers. Even with three million believers fleeing in terror from Black and White Impermanence and being slaughtered by the Shadow Demons, over two million still raced frantically toward the temple.
They believed that as long as they reached the temple, the deities would protect them.
They did not know that the God of War had already fallen, the God of Plague had been imprisoned in Hell, and the God of Agriculture and God of Water were currently pinned down by the Ghost King, unable to even save themselves.
The Mushroom People arrived.
One hundred thousand Mushroom People surged out from the Mycelium Deep Forest, advancing toward the heart of the Incense Divine Kingdom in neat phalanxes. Their caps were grayish-white, blending with the Yin Qi, and spores drifted around them like grayish-white snowflakes.
The Mushroom King hovered at the very front of the phalanxes, his purple eyes narrowing slightly.
"Spore Domain, expand."
His voice was calm, but every word contained a certain ancient rhythm.
One hundred thousand Mushroom People released their spores simultaneously. The spores drifted out from under their caps, coalescing into a grayish-white mist that floated toward the heart of the Incense Divine Kingdom. Wherever the spores passed, the golden light began to dim, Power Of Faith began to dissipate, and the air turned cold and gloomy.
The fleeing believers inhaled the spores, and their footsteps began to slow. Their eyes grew glazed, their consciousness became blurred, and their bodies felt heavy.
The spores contained a trace amount of toxin that wasn't lethal but would make those who inhaled it drowsy and break their will.
The believers collapsed one by one, lying on the golden earth and falling into a deep sleep. In their dreams, their souls were pulled by the Ghost Gate Pass, drifting silently toward the Netherworld.
The Mushroom People did not directly participate in the killing. Their duty was not combat, but support. The Spore Domain weakened enemies, healed allies, and controlled the battlefield. They were the foundation of the Netherworld army, the lubricant of the entire war machine.
The Ice Crystals followed closely behind the Mushroom People.
Twenty-three thousand Ice Crystals surged out from the Extreme Cold Ice Plains, taking their positions behind the Mushroom People. Their bodies were transparent crystals that shimmered with a faint blue light amidst the golden radiance. Their eyes were silver, reflecting a bone-chilling cold.
The Frost King stood at the very front, his silver eyes scanning the fleeing believers.
"Extreme Cold Domain, expand."
His voice was as cold as frost, each word carrying a piercing chill.
Twenty-three thousand Ice Crystals simultaneously released their Extreme Cold Domains. The temperature in the void plummeted to a hundred degrees below zero; moisture in the air condensed into Ice Crystals, and a thick layer of frost covered the ground. The fleeing believers' footsteps slowed, their bodies stiffened, and their blood began to congeal.
The Ice Crystals' Extreme Cold Domain combined with the Mushroom People's Spore Domain to create a terrifying "Frost Spore" effect. The spores condensed into ice crystal spores in the extreme cold, more than doubling their potency. When those ice crystal spores landed on the believers, they would instantly freeze their skin and permeate their blood vessels, turning their blood into slush.
The Ice Crystals were the controllers of the Netherworld army. They did not seek killing speed, but rather control. Every believer frozen by the Ice Crystals would become a nursery for the Mushroom People's spores, a target for the Shadow Demons' slaughter, and an object for the Naga to harvest.
The Naga flanked from the sides.
Two hundred thousand Naga surged out from the Deep Blue Sea Abyss, occupying the other side of the Incense Divine Kingdom. With silver-gray scales and pale gold eyes, they were packed together, covering the horizon. Their tridents glinted coldly in the golden light, their mages chanted spells in the rear, and their warriors charged ahead.
Lan hovered at the very front of the Naga army, his pure silver scales shining brilliantly in the golden light, his pure gold eyes calmly watching the collapsing Incense Divine Kingdom.
"Naga, form ranks."
His voice was as calm as water, yet every word carried an unquestionable authority.
Two hundred thousand Naga formed their ranks simultaneously. The outermost layer consisted of trident-wielding warriors, the middle layer was comprised of mages with coral staves, and the innermost layer held the commanding elites. The moment the formation was complete, an invisible pressure surged from within, causing the surrounding air to stagnate.
[Return of the Ten Thousand Streams] was activated.
Two hundred thousand Naga simultaneously released Yin Qi, which converged into a grayish-white torrent that rushed toward the heart of the Incense Divine Kingdom. Wherever the torrent passed, the golden light was devoured, the Power Of Faith was assimilated, and the earth was covered in a layer of grayish-white frost.
The fleeing believers were swallowed by the torrent. Their bodies rotted in the Yin Qi, their souls struggled in the flood, and their lives dissipated within the grayish-white mist.
The Naga were the main force of the Netherworld army. They had the largest numbers, the strongest combat power, and the most complete formations. They were the pillars of the battlefield, the key force that decided victory or defeat.
The humans were the last to arrive.
Four and a half million humans surged out from the New Era Ruins, but those walking at the very front were not warriors or soldiers, but priests.
Three thousand priests of the Netherworld Church, dressed in grayish-white robes and holding incense burners, walked at the head of the human army. Their eyes were grayish-white, their faces were as calm as water, and their steps were as steady as mountains.
Behind them were four and a half million believers.
Not warriors, but believers.
They carried no weapons and wore no armor; they simply walked quietly with their palms pressed together, their lips moving as they uttered low prayers.
Chen Ming walked at the head of the priests, his pure golden eyes fixed on the burning Incense Divine Kingdom.
"Believers of the Netherworld," his voice was as calm as water, yet every word contained an indescribable power. "Opposite us is a world that believes in the Incense Divine Kingdom. They believe in deities, they believe in golden light, and they believe in those high and mighty existences."
"But we are different."
"What we believe in is not a deity."
"What we believe in is order."
"The order where good and evil receive their due rewards."
"The order of the cycle of life and death."
"The order of the Netherworld."
He raised his hand and pointed toward the Incense Divine Kingdom.
"Let them see what true faith looks like."
Four and a half million believers knelt down simultaneously.
A grayish-white light began to emanate from their bodies. This was not Incense Radiance, but Power Of Faith. It was the pure, deep, and heartfelt Power Of Faith accumulated by human civilization over a thousand years.
That light rose from their heads, converging into a grayish-white torrent that surged toward the invisible rift in the sky, into the Underworld Space, through the Ghost Gate Pass, and into Su Bai's world core.
Through Su Bai's will, it was fed back onto the battlefield.
Grayish-white light descended from the void, enveloping the entire battlefield. When that light fell upon the Shadow Demons, it made them faster; when it fell upon the Mushroom People, it made their spores stronger; when it fell upon the Ice Crystals, it made their extreme cold even colder; and when it fell upon the Naga, it made their formation even steadier.
But when that light fell upon the believers of the Incense Divine Kingdom, it only brought them terror.
Because within that light was the aura of death.
It was a blessing from the Netherworld.
The protection of the deceased.
The gift of Reincarnation.
The collective prayers of four and a half million humans generated a Power Of Faith that made the entire Incense Divine Kingdom tremble.
When the fleeing believers saw that grayish-white light and felt that aura of death, the final line of defense in their hearts finally collapsed.
"Demons! They are demons!"
"Deities! Why aren't the deities saving us?!"
"I don't want to die! I don't want to die!"
The believers completely broke down. They no longer fled, no longer prayed, and no longer believed in anything. They simply collapsed on the ground, clutching their heads and shivering, waiting for death to arrive.
The Power Of Faith began to crumble.
The golden specks of light rising from the believers began to decrease. They went from fireflies filling the sky to a few scattered points, and finally disappeared entirely.
Atop the temple dome, the four light orbs began to dim.
The God of Agriculture's aura dropped from the mid-stage of the Sixth Rank to the early-stage of the Sixth Rank.
The God of Water's aura dropped from the mid-stage of the Sixth Rank to the early-stage of the Sixth Rank.
The light orb at the very center also began to tremble slightly.
The Main God was shaken.
