20: Chapter 20 begins the sweep.
Su Bai looked at the warning about the extremely low success rate, the corners of his mouth curling up slightly.
240 versus 2,000+.
A tenfold difference.
But who said war only relied on numbers?
He clicked confirm.
[Expedition Preparation Complete]
Su Bai lifted his foot and stepped onto the platform.
Thirty seconds.
He closed his eyes, his consciousness sinking into the Underworld.
Ash-gray Yin Qi surged like a sea.
Su Bai's consciousness avatar appeared at the world core, his voice reaching the ears of every unit.
“Prepare for battle.”
Ghost Bride instantly drifted over, swaying before Su Bai.
“Another fight? Great!”
Sadako looked up, her long hair sliding to both sides to reveal her pale face. A faint glint flickered in those hollow eyes.
Slit-Mouthed Woman silently strode toward the passage, her hand tightening slightly around her scissors.
The Ghost Soldiers stepped forward in unison, their spears pointing diagonally.
Su Bai opened his eyes.
The eerie blue light had reached its peak intensity, tearing a pitch-black rift in the center of the platform. The rift expanded further and further, eventually forming a gateway three meters high and two meters wide.
On the other side of the gateway was a dark red sky.
And a stretch of scorched earth.
Su Bai took a deep breath and stepped inside.
The moment he passed through the passage, Su Bai felt a drastic change in the environment.
Hot.
Dry.
The air was filled with a pungent smell of sulfur, mixed with the scent of blood and burnt flesh.
He could feel almost no energy flow in the air.
No spiritual energy, no battle qi, and no magical elements.
Only the smell of sulfur.
And despair.
Su Bai's gaze swept over the surroundings.
Countless skeletons were scattered across the scorched earth.
Some skeletons were massive, clearly the remains of Crimson-Blood Half-Orcs; some were smaller, like those of some kind of beast; others had been gnawed into fragments, making it impossible to tell what they originally were.
He crouched down to carefully observe a relatively intact Crimson-Blood Half-Orc skeleton.
There were clear bite marks on the ribs.
The skull had a shattered crack.
There were even tooth marks from being gnawed on the leg bones.
Cannibalism.
Su Bai stood up, a trace of coldness flashing in his eyes.
The Crimson-Blood Half-Orcs of this world were even more insane than the Yaksha Clan.
At least the Yaksha Clan only resorted to cannibalism at the very end of their internal strife, whereas the half-orcs here had been eating their own kind from the start.
“Lord.”
A raspy voice sounded.
Su Bai turned to look at Slit-Mouthed Woman.
She raised her scissors, pointing toward a distant volcano.
“Over there.”
Su Bai narrowed his eyes, looking in the direction the scissors pointed.
At the foot of the volcano was a relatively flat area. Densely packed red figures were gathered there; a rough estimate suggested at least three or four hundred.
Crimson-Blood Half-Orcs.
His gaze continued to move, scanning other directions.
To the east, in a ruin, over a hundred figures were active.
To the west, by a river of lava, over two hundred half-orcs were slaughtering each other.
To the south, even further away, there were even more black dots.
They were everywhere.
The half-orcs of this world had completely split into countless small tribes, each fighting for themselves and devouring one another.
“Let's go.”
With a wave of his hand, Su Bai took the lead toward the nearest area at the foot of the volcano.
Ghost Bride drifted on his left, Sadako on his right, and Slit-Mouthed Woman walked at the very front. Behind them, two hundred and thirty-seven Ghost Soldiers followed silently with orderly steps.
The Ghost Soldiers' footsteps landed on the scorched earth without making a sound.
At the foot of the volcano.
Over three hundred Crimson-Blood Half-Orcs were gathered in an open space, frantically gnawing on something.
Surrounded in their midst were the corpses of three of their own kind.
The corpses had been torn out of shape, limbs scattered everywhere, chests ripped open, and internal organs picked clean.
Over three hundred half-orcs fought over the remains like wild beasts, letting out low growls from time to time as they pushed and bit one another.
Su Bai stopped and watched the scene.
Over three hundred.
The number was neither too many nor too few, just right for testing their blades.
“Let me do it, let me do it!”
Ghost Bride's voice carried an irrepressible excitement. Her red clothes cut a bizarre arc through the air as she instantly drifted above the group of half-orcs.
She looked down at the three hundred or so ugly half-orcs, her lips slowly curling into a smile.
[Wraith Avatar] + [Soul-Claiming Red Makeup]
A full-power strike from the Tier 3 Ghost Bride.
One half-orc dropped his stone axe and clutched his head, screaming frantically.
Then came a second, and a third.
All three hundred-plus half-orcs collapsed into a breakdown within a mere three seconds.
Sadako drifted forward, raising a deathly pale hand and pressing it gently against a half-orc's forehead.
[Curse Spread].
The half-orc's body stiffened, the fear in his eyes deepening. He turned around and began to frantically attack the companions beside him.
The Curse Spread through his body to the next, and the next, and the next.
Spreading like a virus.
In just one minute, all three hundred-plus half-orcs were caught in a fratricidal slaughter.
Slit-Mouthed Woman moved through the chaotic battlefield, stopping every few steps to take off her mask and ask that fatal question.
“Am I pretty?”
The scissors stabbed down.
One after another.
The number of half-orcs was decreasing rapidly.
Three hundred.
Two hundred and fifty.
Two hundred.
One hundred and fifty.
One hundred.
When the last half-orc lost in madness fell under Slit-Mouthed Woman's scissors, not a single standing enemy remained on the battlefield.
Corpses were everywhere.
Dark red blood soaked the scorched earth, mixing with the lava and letting out a sizzling sound.
Ghost Bride exited her Wraith Avatar state and drifted in mid-air, greedily absorbing the resentment permeating the battlefield.
Sadako stood quietly amidst the mountain of corpses and sea of blood, her face covered by long hair, her Tier 2 aura becoming more stable.
Slit-Mouthed Woman slowly put on her mask, her hand holding the scissors trembling slightly.
The Ghost Soldiers had not made a move from beginning to end.
Su Bai stood at the edge of the battlefield, his gaze sweeping over the corpses littering the ground.
Over three hundred.
Zero casualties.
Immediately after, Su Bai led the Underworld army and continued their sweeping mode.
