134: Chapter 134 Disguised as a Sister, Bone City

[The trio headed north. After traveling for two days, a small town appeared before them.]

[Calling it a town was a stretch; it was actually just a few rows of low stone houses surrounding a well belching black smoke.]

[Several Cultivators squatted by the well, dividing something up.]

[They wore matching black robes with a Skeleton Flower embroidered on the cuffs.]

[As soon as Chu Sheng's trio entered the town, those Cultivators stood up.]

[The leader was a pure-blood Demon Race member at the Early Stage of True Transformation Realm. He sized Chu Sheng up, his nose twitching twice, and the expression on his face shifted from nonchalance to disgust: "A Human Race demon Cultivator?"]

[He spat on the ground, landing squarely by Chu Sheng's feet. "Do you know the rules? Toll fee, one hundred demon stones."]

[Chu Sheng didn't say a word.]

[He pulled out Yu Rumeng's token and tossed it over casually.]

[The Cultivator caught it, looked down, and his face turned deathly pale instantly.]

[The two characters for 'Rumeng' on the token shimmered with an eerie light under the moonlight, staring at him coldly like a pair of eyes.]

[His legs went weak, and he fell to the ground with a thud. Several Disciples behind him also knelt in a row, kowtowing like they were pounding garlic.]

["This lowly one was blind and didn't know you were an honored guest of Devil King Rumeng! This lowly one deserves to die! This lowly one deserves to die!"]

[Chu Sheng picked up the token, wiped off the dust, gave them a glance, and turned to leave.]

[Huang Gula followed behind and whispered, "Brother, can you let me have a look at that token?"]

[Chu Sheng glared at him.]

[Huang Gula shrank his neck back, not daring to make another sound.]

[The Old Grandfather muttered inside the ring, "This woman's background is even greater than this seat imagined."]

[Chu Sheng asked, "How great?"]

[The Old Grandfather was silent for a moment before his tone became unusually serious: "One of the three great Devil Kings of Nine Nether Palace is of the same generation as her."]

[Chu Sheng sucked in a cold breath and gripped the token even tighter.]

[He thought of that woman leaning lazily on the couch peeling grapes, of her nonchalance when she said 'Big Sister needs a high-grade slave,' and of the chill on her fingertips when she hooked his chin.]

[Dao Palace Realm, a Devil King, and of the same generation as the three great Devil Kings of Nine Nether Palace.]

[Just what kind of monster had he slept with?]

Seeing this scene, Chu Sheng laughed so hard he slapped his thigh. "The Devil King's Command! This thing is more useful than any identity! Chu Sheng can walk sideways in the Demon Domain from now on!"

He took a sip of tea but felt a bit worried. "However, with Yu Rumeng having such a massive background, it'll be hard for Chu Sheng to run away in the future. Can someone targeted by a Succubus of the Dao Palace Realm even escape?"

[On the road, Chu Sheng noticed something off about Fake Name.]

[She always walked behind him, neither too far nor too close, her gaze lingering on him seemingly inadvertently.]

[It wasn't the scrutiny from before, but something else indescribable, like she was sizing up a plaything that had finally come into her possession.]

[Chu Sheng felt creeped out by her gaze. Several times he looked back, but she would just shift her eyes away expressionlessly.]

[The Old Grandfather suddenly sent a voice transmission, his voice kept very low: "Be careful. This Fake Name is not Fake Name."]

[Chu Sheng's heart jolted. "What do you mean?"]

[The Old Grandfather didn't answer again.]

[When Chu Sheng asked again, he played dead.]

[Chu Sheng knew the old man's temper; if he didn't want to say something, even holding a knife to his neck wouldn't help.]

[He could only stay vigilant himself.]

[When they set up camp that night, Chu Sheng deliberately isolated himself.]

[Using the excuse of looking for a water source, he walked into a grove of dead trees.]

[Moonlight filtered through the branches, casting a layer of ghastly white on the ground.]

[Just as he stopped, footsteps sounded behind him.]

[Very light, like a cat stepping on fallen leaves.]

["Fake Name" followed him.]

[In the moonlight, her face was cold as ice, but her eyes were wrong.]

[It wasn't Fake Name's cold scrutiny, but something deeper and thicker, like honey that wouldn't dissolve.]

[She walked up to Chu Sheng and looked up at him, her lips slightly parted, her breath like orchids.]

[That cold face suddenly thawed, her eyes curving into a smile that Chu Sheng was all too familiar with.]

[Chu Sheng's heart pounded wildly as he tentatively called out, "Rumeng?"]

[The figure paused for a moment, then laughed.]

[The laughter carried a hint of laziness and a bit of smugness, like a cat that had stolen a fish.]

[Moonlight flowed over her face, and that cold, elegant visage seemed to disperse like mist, revealing the breathtakingly beautiful face beneath.]

[Yu Rumeng reached out to hook his chin, her fingertips slightly cool. "Big Sister missed you. Is that not allowed?"]

[Chu Sheng was speechless.]

[If she missed him, she missed him. What was the point of pretending to be her sister?]

[Yu Rumeng looked at him with a beaming smile, like she was looking at a beloved toy. "If Big Sister hadn't come, you wouldn't even know if you were being sold out."]

[Chu Sheng said, "I'm not a three-year-old child."]

[Yu Rumeng didn't respond, she just looked into his eyes with a gaze that was incredibly gentle.]

[Yu Rumeng had taken on Fake Name's appearance and blended into the group, even imitating her walking posture perfectly.]

[When Chu Sheng asked her why she was pretending, she only said, "It's fun."]

[Chu Sheng thought to himself, a Devil King of the Dao Palace Realm followed us all this way disguised as her own sister just for the sake of 'fun.']

[Who would believe that if it were told?]

[But he didn't dare say it, nor did he dare ask.]

[Huang Gula hadn't noticed anything unusual at all.]

[He still boisterously slapped "Fake Name" on the shoulder and called her "buddy," with enough force to seriously injure an ordinary Cultivator.]

[Yu Rumeng didn't dodge, nor did she get angry; she just gave him a look.]

[That look was very faint, like looking at an ignorant puppy.]

[Huang Gula felt creeped out by the look and shrank his neck, muttering, "Why is Fake Name's gaze so scary today..."]

[Chu Sheng broke into a cold sweat for him.]

[Brother, the person you slapped is a Dao Palace expert, a Devil King, and a Guest Elder of Nine Nether Palace.]

[Do you know that the slap you just gave is enough for you to die ten times over?]

[At night, Chu Sheng and Yu Rumeng "sparred."]

[Calling it sparring was actually Yu Rumeng unilaterally ravaging him.]

[Chu Sheng had finally thought he had some freedom for a while and believed he could last a few rounds, but in the end, he was still pinned to the ground and ground down.]

[Yu Rumeng sat astride him, looking down at him. Moonlight leaked through the gaps in the tent, illuminating her face in shifting shadows.]

[Huang Gula was patrolling outside the tent.]

[He should have walked further away, but the wind was strong tonight, so he shrank his neck and leaned closer to the tent. Suddenly, he heard strange sounds from inside.]

[Panting, whispering, and the sound of something being pressed until it creaked.]

[He muttered to himself, "Are Fake Name and Brother Chu fighting? Should I go in and mediate?"]

[He hesitated for a moment and lifted a corner of the tent.]

[Moonlight shone in, and he saw "Fake Name" sitting on Chu Sheng's lap, her collar slightly open, her long hair disheveled, with an expression on her face he had never seen before.]

[Huang Gula was instantly petrified.]

[His eyes widened, his mouth hanging open wide enough to fit a fist, and then he scrambled away, his face as pale as if he had seen a ghost.]

[Chu Sheng heard the commotion and wanted to go out to explain, but he was held down by Yu Rumeng.]

[She looked down at him, the corner of her mouth curling slightly. "What's the rush?"]

[Chu Sheng said, "He'll misunderstand."]

[Yu Rumeng said, "Misunderstand what?"]

[Chu Sheng opened his mouth but couldn't find the words.]

[She obviously understood everything; she was just teasing him on purpose.]

[The next day, the way Huang Gula looked at Chu Sheng was like looking at a dead man.]

[He waited until "Fake Name" had walked far away before pulling Chu Sheng aside. His voice was trembling, and beads of sweat rolled down his forehead one by one. "Brother, do you know that she is Devil King Rumeng's sister..."]

[Chu Sheng wanted to explain but didn't know where to start.]

[Say that it's not Fake Name, but your sister?]

[Say that Devil King Rumeng is pretending to be her own sister in the group just for 'fun'?]

[He wouldn't believe it even if I told him.]

[Huang Gula continued to fill in the blanks, his words getting more and more outrageous. "If Devil King Rumeng finds out, you won't even know how you died! A Devil King of the Dao Palace Realm can slap a hundred of you to death with one hand!"]

[Chu Sheng thought to himself, she already knows, she's standing right over there.]

[But he could only pat Huang Gula's shoulder. "Don't worry, it's fine."]

[Huang Gula was so anxious he stomped his feet. "Fine? Do you know how protective Devil King Rumeng is? If she knew someone was bullying her sister, she could turn the heavens upside down!"]

[The "Fake Name" played by Yu Rumeng suddenly walked over and gave Huang Gula a cold look.]

[That gaze was like a different person from the night before, cold as a blade, like looking at a talkative dead man.]

[Huang Gula's legs went weak, and he almost knelt, his face as white as paper.]

[Chu Sheng's stomach hurt from holding back his laughter.]

[Yu Rumeng sent him a voice transmission, her voice carrying a hint of amusement: "He is quite interesting."]

[Chu Sheng thought to himself, interesting? He's about to be scared to death by you.]

[The group continued north.]

[Three days later, the silhouette of a giant city appeared on the horizon.]

[White Bone City.]

[The city walls were built from piled white bones, dense and numerous, stretching as far as the eye could see.]

[There were human bones, beast bones, and some giant skeletons Chu Sheng couldn't name. Each bone was several zhang thick, like the ribs of prehistoric behemoths.]

[The white bones were carved with dense runes that shimmered with an eerie fluorescence under the dark red sky, like countless eyes blinking in the darkness.]

[Standing at the city gate were two rows of upper-grade Demon Warriors, clad in black armor with black blades. Their auras were profound, and each had a cultivation level of the True Firmament stage.]

[Pedestrians were lined up in a long queue, waiting to enter the city.]

[As soon as Chu Sheng's trio reached the city gate and showed the Devil King's Command, a middle-aged man in black official robes quickly came out to meet them.]

[The White Bone City Lord, an High-grade Demon General at the Late Stage of Sea Opening.]

[His face was full of smiles, but his gaze was as sharp as a hawk's. He scanned Chu Sheng once and then focused on the Devil King's Command in his hand.]

[His smile deepened, so deep it seemed a bit fake.]

["An honored guest has arrived, please forgive me for not welcoming you sooner!"]

[He took Chu Sheng's hand, acting as affectionate as if he had met a long-lost brother. "An honored guest of Devil King Rumeng is an honored guest of my White Bone City! Come, come, this seat has already prepared a banquet to welcome you all!"]

[Chu Sheng was led into the city by him. He looked back at Yu Rumeng.]

[She was still in Fake Name's form, following behind expressionlessly like a dutiful sister.]

[But Chu Sheng knew that beneath that cold face was a beaming cat.]

Chu Sheng watched this scene and laughed so hard he slapped his thigh. "The speed at which this White Bone City Lord changes faces is faster than Sichuan Opera! One second he's cold-faced, and as soon as he sees the Devil King's Command, he's acting like brothers."

He took a sip of tea but felt a bit worried. "However, this City Lord is overly enthusiastic; he likely has other motives. Chu Sheng needs to stay vigilant."

He looked at the giant city built of white bones in the image and murmured.

"White Bone City. This name sounds unlucky. I'm afraid something's going to go wrong again for Chu Sheng on this trip."
