207: Chapter 207 Seventh-Order Alchemist? Ambush

Chu Sheng hadn't been idle lately, because he was thinking about one thing.

Could he find a Heaven And Earth Treasure for fetal nourishment? The kind that could steadily improve his offspring's Aptitude.

Previously, he lacked the ability, but now he was in the Dao Palace realm and had the backing of the Wendao Sect.

News arrived very quickly.

The Myriad Phenomena Pavilion.

One of the twelve giants of the Central Region.

The wording was polite, the tone sincere, stating that a Seventh Rank Alchemist was traveling near the Wendao Sect recently and had successfully refined a batch of "Divine Fetal Nourishing Pills".

It had miraculous effects on pregnant Cultivators, could stabilize the fetal foundation, nourish the Spiritual Root, and even improve the Aptitude of the unborn infant.

After reading the invitation, Chu Sheng was tempted.

It wasn't for himself, but for Yue Jianli.

Yue Jianli was carrying his child; although her Physique as a stone woman had been broken by Many Children, Many Blessings, her foundation was still weaker than that of a normal Cultivator. If she had this Divine Fetal Nourishing Pill, coupled with the feedback from his Many Children, Many Blessings, wouldn't she just take off?

Taking a step back, if he could get the Pill Formula, perhaps his future children would have stable, high Aptitude.

He had asked Elder Shen, and Elder Shen said the fetus was currently stable, but its Aptitude might be affected after birth.

A Seventh Rank Alchemist.

Chu Sheng went through the Alchemy System in his mind.

The first and second ranks corresponded to Qi Induction, the third and fourth to Condensing True Essence, the fifth and sixth to Spirit Sea, and the seventh and eighth to Dao Palace.

An Alchemist at the Dao Palace level was a highly sought-after treasure throughout the entire Central Region.

He once had a purple trait called Pill Dao Physique, but he hadn't advanced it much later, and his Alchemy had remained at the fourth or fifth rank—enough to use, but not top-tier.

And as for something like a Divine Fetal Nourishing Pill, he hadn't even seen the Pill Formula before.

The invitation stated that the Alchemist was a guest at the Myriad Phenomena Sect and hoped to meet with Chu Sheng.

The Myriad Phenomena Sect was one of the twelve giants of the Central Region and belonged to the same Northern Region lineage as the Wendao Sect; their relationship wasn't close, but there was no enmity either.

Chu Sheng hesitated for two days and asked Tangtang.

Tangtang said, "The Myriad Phenomena Sect? I've never heard of them having any enmity with you."

He asked Ye Gucheng again.

Ye Gucheng said, "If you want to go, then go. Bring your token."

Chu Sheng felt it was feasible.

He brought the wendao token, the zhu xian sword, the Old Grandfather, and all his trump cards.

Even if he encountered an unexpected event, he could hold out until reinforcements arrived.

He hadn't met the Peak Masters of the second and third Peaks of Wendao Palace, but based on Tangtang's Dao Completion Realm, those two should at least be at the Peak of Dao Completion, and might even have touched the threshold of Divine Ability.

If he summoned one over, the other side would all have to kneel.

He settled Yue Jianli down and told her he would return shortly.

Yue Jianli didn't speak, but just held his hand, holding it very tightly, as if afraid he wouldn't return.

Chu Sheng set off.

The route was provided by the Myriad Phenomena Sect, passing through a wasteland in the Central Region and then crossing two large mountains to arrive.

He didn't walk fast, refining the Void Realm Legacy while on the road.

He had digested the third layer almost entirely; the Bottleneck of the Mid-stage Palace Building was getting thinner and thinner, like a layer of window paper, ready to be poked through at any time.

Walking deep into the mountains, Chu Sheng suddenly stopped.

It was too quiet all around; there were no birds chirping, no insects buzzing, and even the wind had stopped.

The Old Grandfather said in the ring: "Something is wrong."

As soon as the words fell, five figures flashed out, surrounding him in the center.

Five Palace Building Cultivators, with cultivation ranging from Early Stage to Peak, each holding a heaven rank magic treasure, surging with killing intent.

Immediately afterward, two stronger auras swept in from afar and landed on the periphery of the five—two Spirit Nurturing Cultivators, one male and one female.

The female was Ling Wushuang, and he didn't recognize the male—white-haired, with a cold expression, and an Elder token of the Heavenly Sword Pavilion hanging from his waist.

Chu Sheng looked at Ling Wushuang and smiled.

He finally acknowledged: "It's just a sword of mine, is it really worth it?"

Ling Wushuang said indifferently: "I have petitioned the Sect Old Ancestor; that sword is no ordinary Magic Treasure. It is one of the four swords of zhuxian. The Heavenly Sword Pavilion has been looking for it for thousands of years; I didn't expect it to be in your hands."

Chu Sheng was stunned for a moment.

The four swords of zhuxian belonged to the Heavenly Sword Pavilion?

That didn't seem right, did it?

Ling Wushuang stopped wasting words and waved her hand.

The five Palace Building Cultivators attacked simultaneously, and five heaven rank magic treasures blasted toward Chu Sheng.

Chu Sheng didn't dodge.

He summoned the zhu xian sword from his Dantian.

Dark, ink-like patterns flowed on the pitch-black sword body, and Sword Qi surged out like a tide, forming a barrier around him.

The five Magic Treasures crashed into the barrier, emitting a muffled, thunderous sound, and the ground on the wasteland was cracked into fissures.

Chu Sheng remained motionless, a faint smile on his lips.

He struck back with his sword, the Sword Qi like a ribbon of silk, sweeping out.

Two Palace Building Cultivators couldn't dodge in time and were struck by the Sword Qi, flying backward, leaving a wound on their arms deep enough to see the bone.

Their protective spiritual power was like paper in front of the zhu xian sword; it broke at the slightest touch.

The remaining three Palace Building Cultivators' expressions changed drastically, and they retreated a few steps.

Chu Sheng stood in place, two zhu xian swords hovering at his sides, Sword Qi soaring into the sky.

He felt like a god of war; no, he was a god of war.

With Palace Building cultivation, coupled with the power of the zhu xian sword, dealing with the five Palace Building Cultivators opposite him was effortless.

But he knew in his heart that this was just an appetizer.

The truly deadly ones were the two Spirit Nurturing Cultivators outside.

Ling Wushuang frowned and gave a look to the white-haired Elder beside her.

Both of them attacked at the same time. Ling Wushuang drew her sword, the Sword Qi like a rainbow, piercing straight at Chu Sheng's face; the white-haired Elder struck out with a palm, the palm wind like a mountain, pressing down from the side.

The full-force strike of two Spirit Nurturing Cultivators was enough to flatten a mountain.

Chu Sheng brought out another sword, and the Sword Qi formed a barrier.

Boom! The barrier shattered, and Chu Sheng flew backward, rolling a few times on the ground, a trace of blood spilling from the corner of his mouth.

There was no help for it.

Ling Wushuang and the white-haired Elder were shocked, and the greed in their eyes grew even stronger.

He climbed up, patted the dust off his body, and fished the wendao token out of his bosom.

Crack, he crushed it.

A beam of spiritual light rushed out from the token, shooting toward the sky like an invisible thread, connecting to the direction of Wendao Palace.

Chu Sheng shouted at the spiritual light: "Peak Master of the Second Peak! Peak Master of the Third Peak! Help me!"

The spiritual light flickered and went out.

There was no response.

Chu Sheng was stunned for a moment, then shouted again: "Is anyone there? Where are the Elders of Wendao Palace? What happened to the promised reinforcements?"

Still no response.

The Old Grandfather said in the ring: "Maybe... they aren't there?"

Chu Sheng cursed eighteen times in his heart.

Not there?

When he crushed the token, Wendao Palace should have sensed it.

Even if the Peak Masters weren't there, there should at least be a deacon who could reply, right?

And the result? Not even a fart.

He suddenly understood that the token System of Wendao Palace might not be quite what he imagined.

The Peak Masters of the Second and Third Peaks might not be in the Sect at all, might be in seclusion, or might—simply not want to bother with him.

He thought he was the Lord of Destiny and that summoning people should be as convenient as ordering takeout.

And the result? The takeout delivery had no takers.

Ling Wushuang looked at his expression, and the corners of her mouth curled up: "The tokens of Wendao Palace are not omnipotent."

The white-haired Elder struck with his palm, and Chu Sheng blocked with his sword, being shaken back a few steps again.

Two Palace Building Cultivators flanked him from the side, one with a sword and one with a saber, nearly hacking into his back.

Chu Sheng stopped relying on luck.

He threw the fragments of the wendao token onto the ground.

Sword Qi surged, blocking the attacks of the two Spirit Nurturing Cultivators.

But he couldn't hold on for long; his spiritual power was leaking out like water.

He took a deep breath and shouted into the Void Realm: "Tangtang!"

There was no response.

He shouted again: "Old Ancestor Tangtang! Help me!"

The wasteland was still silent.

Chu Sheng's heart went cold.

It was over; Tangtang hadn't come.

He gritted his teeth, urged his sword, and barely managed to block the attacks of Ling Wushuang and the white-haired Elder.

But he knew this was the end of his rope.

Just as he was preparing to fight to the death, a lazy voice came from afar: "Why are you yelling? It's so noisy."

Chu Sheng almost cried.

Tangtang was wearing a clean green Daoist robe—she had actually changed into new clothes—stepping on those old cloth shoes, chewing on a sugar-coated hawthorn, and walked out of the Void Realm.

She glanced at Ling Wushuang, then looked at the white-haired Elder, and then tilted her head and asked: "Why are you hitting him?"

Ling Wushuang's expression changed.

The white-haired Elder's expression also changed.

Tangtang's aura wasn't released, but standing there, she was like a wall, an abyss, a mountain that couldn't be climbed.

"Go away." Tangtang said, her tone as indifferent as if she were shooing away flies.

She reached out, grabbed Chu Sheng by the back of his collar, lifted him up like a little chick, turned around, and walked into a crack in the Void Realm.

The crack closed, and the people from the Heavenly Sword Pavilion stood in place, looking at each other.

Ling Wushuang gripped the hilt of her sword, her knuckles turning white.
