392: Chapter 392 Here I come!

The main hall of the Nine Nether Palace was unusually cavernous today.

Those standing inside were not just members of the Nine Nether Palace.

The Hall Master of the Hall of Ten Thousand Demons sat in a side seat, with three Devil Kings of the Yun Shen Realm standing behind him, all eyes fixed on the figure in the center of the hall.

Yu Rumeng stood in the center of the hall. She could already feel the subtle, taut tension in the air slowly closing in around her.

But she did not let that oppressive atmosphere affect her movements. She simply stood there quietly, waiting for someone to speak first.

The Hall Master of the Hall of Ten Thousand Demons was the first to speak. His voice was not loud, but it resonated with unusual clarity in the empty hall.

"Yu Rumeng, a few months ago you were merely at the Early Stage of Palace Building. How long has it been, and you are already at the Middle Stage of Spirit Nurturing? Moreover—"

He paused. "Four Devil Kings died at the same time not long ago. The Reverse Demon Tower also vanished around the same time."

His gaze locked onto her. "Tell me, do these events have anything to do with you?"

Yu Rumeng looked into his eyes without flinching. "Several Devil Kings hunted me down, so I killed them. As for the Reverse Demon Tower, I know nothing about it."

The Hall Master of the Hall of Ten Thousand Demons stared at her for a long while, like an interrogator confirming details.

"If it was legitimate self-defense, then blame it on their lack of skill; killing them is just killing them."

"However, you didn't say a single word about it beforehand. Furthermore, your cultivation level has increased far too quickly. This speed is completely abnormal."

He turned his head and glanced at the Master of Jiuyou Palace beside him. "What does the Palace Master think?"

The Master of Jiuyou Palace remained silent for a moment, appearing reluctant to take a stance on this occasion. But in the end, she spoke, her voice carrying a begrudging composure.

Because Yu Rumeng had always been a loner, none of the Devil Kings from the Nine Nether Palace present even spoke up on her behalf.

"If it was self-defense, it is not inexplicable. However, there are indeed certain aura traces on her that shouldn't be there."

Her gaze swept over Yu Rumeng, as if discerning some minute traces.

"I cannot see it very clearly, but some things have already exceeded the scope of what the Spirit Nurturing Realm should possess."

The Hall Master of the Hall of Ten Thousand Demons stood up from the side seat and signaled to the three Devil Kings of the Yun Shen Realm behind him.

The three took a step forward simultaneously. Devilish Qi of different colors surged from their bodies; while they did not strike directly, they used their aura to lock down most of Yu Rumeng's escape routes from three directions.

In a heavy, slow tone, he said, "If you continue to be secretive, we can only ask you to stay here until we clarify everything before leaving."

Yu Rumeng did not answer. She raised her hand, and a jade token rose from her palm, floating before her with a warm, gentle luster flowing along its edges.

The rumeng token—as those three Spirit Nurturing Devil Kings pressed toward her, a fierce white light surged forth from the rumeng token.

Like a wave compressed for a long time suddenly being released, it cleaved a crack straight through one of their Devilish Qi barriers.

Forcing him to take half a step back, his movements visibly faltering.

The aura of the Hall Master of the Hall of Ten Thousand Demons sharpened slightly at that moment, his eyes falling upon the jade token. "Devilish Qi of Wrath?"

His voice carried a chill that only came with confirmation. "You truly are related to the Inheritance of Wrath."

He looked again at the jade token floating and slowly spinning beside Yu Rumeng. "That jade token... doesn't seem like an ordinary Magic Treasure. And there is something else on you."

He suddenly struck out. A condensed black palm print bypassed the pressure of the three Spirit Nurturing Devil Kings and slammed toward Yu Rumeng.

Her figure shuddered slightly from the shockwave of that palm strike, but immediately she raised her other hand, and a palm-sized small black tower rose from her hand.

The tower rapidly enlarged, forming a thick barrier around her that blocked most of the palm force pushed by that figure.

Looking at the tower, the tone of the Hall Master of the Hall of Ten Thousand Demons finally changed: "The Reverse Demon Tower... It really was you who took the Reverse Demon Tower."

He turned to look at the Master of Jiuyou Palace. "Palace Master, you have seen it. The rules of the Nine Nether Palace were set by yourselves. How to deal with someone who broke the rules, I shouldn't need to say more."

The Master of Jiuyou Palace remained silent for a few breaths, appearing reluctant to make this decision.

But in the end, she still raised her hand, and a murky dark light surged from her palm, pressing toward Yu Rumeng.

The force was not fatal, but it clearly carried an intent to lock her down, obviously intending to block Yu Rumeng's retreat first.

Yu Rumeng was forced back half a step by the gloom, but she quickly stabilized her stance. The rumeng token and the Reverse Demon Tower opened simultaneously, holding back those two suppressive forces so she did not collapse instantly.

The Hall Master of the Hall of Ten Thousand Demons had already crushed a jade talisman.

A moment later, the air inside the hall felt weighed down by something, and a much heavier aura slowly drifted in from outside the hall.

A figure walked in from the hall entrance, so emaciated he looked like nothing more than a layer of skin wrapped over bones.

Wearing a tattered black robe, his steps were slow, but every step made the ground tremble slightly.

His eyes landed on the small black tower, like someone confirming something. Then he spoke, his voice raspy.

"The Reverse Demon Tower... Greed's thing."

Immediately after, another figure stepped out from the shadows at the side, slightly shorter than the former.

But the Devilish Qi pervading around him was even thicker, bearing an ancient quality as if accumulated over eons.

When he looked at the Reverse Demon Tower, his gaze grew even darker than before, his tone oozing an oppression built up over years.

"Greed's thing... Falling into anyone else's hands would have been fine, but it just had to land right before my eyes."

"It's Withered Bone Devil King and Thousand Ghosts Overlord! Those two old bastards aren't dead yet?"

Many Demon Race members present were lost in thought; it seemed Yu Rumeng was in dire peril.

Two old monsters of the Daocheng Realm stood together in the hall, both their eyes fixed on that tower.

Back then, the Thousand Ghosts Overlord had his entire collection of Magic Treasures plundered clean by Greed; to this day, he still remembered the images of his items being stripped away one by one.

Although Greed had been dead for thousands of years, that long-suppressed resentment had still not dissipated.

He did not make a move against Yu Rumeng; he merely stood at the side of the hall, his eyes fixed on the tower, as if reminiscing or waiting for an excuse.

Yu Rumeng stood in the center of the hall, the rumeng token floating beside her and the Reverse Demon Tower slowly spinning above her head, isolating those several powerful auras.

She felt the pressure from those two Daocheng Realm auras slowly bearing down on her, like two moving mountains.

But she did not retreat; relying on the support of the tower body already repaired by Chu Sheng and the rumeng token, she was still able to stand firm for the time being.

The hall fell briefly silent for a moment, and then a voice echoed from the direction of the entrance.

The voice was not loud, yet it seemed to slice through all the swirling Devilish Qi, drawing the entire hall's attention toward the same direction: "Here I come."

"May I say a few words?"

Chu Sheng stood on the stone steps outside the hall entrance, his silhouette elongated by the backlighting.

The sound felt as though it had been compressed for a long time, only now finally letting go of the switch.
