246: Chapter 246 Liu Qingyan's Ambition, Temporarily Leaving
After leaving Lin Wanqing's medical clinic, Chu Sheng went to Liu Qingyan's Immortal Cave.
Liu Qingyan's Immortal Cave was located at the southernmost end, facing the sun, and the courtyard was filled with flowers and plants, vibrant with life.
However, she was not in her Immortal Cave.
The maid said she had returned to the Liu Family and had been busy with the Family's affairs recently.
Chu Sheng turned and went to the Liu Family.
The Liu Family was a major Family in Jin Xiao City; their residence occupied half the street, and two stone lions stood imposingly before the gate.
But when Chu Sheng walked up to the Liu Family gate, the first thing he saw was not the stone lions, but a large willow tree.
That willow tree was planted in the very center of the Liu Family residence; it was several zhang tall with a thick trunk and a canopy like a parasol, and thousands of willow branches hung down, resembling a piece of green brocade.
Liu Qingyan stood under the willow tree, wearing a pale green long dress.
Her hair was held up by a wooden hairpin, and she held a bamboo scroll in her hand, giving instructions to a few clansmen.
Her stomach had already flattened; she had recovered very quickly after giving birth, and her figure was even fuller than before, while her temperament had become much more composed.
Her cultivation was already at the True Transformation Realm Peak, only one step away from the Spirit Sea.
Chu Sheng thought to himself: 'With the feedback from "Many Children, Many Blessings," combined with her own efforts, Liu Qingyan is walking this path more and more steadily.'
When Liu Qingyan saw him, the bamboo scroll almost fell to the ground.
"You... why are you here?"
Chu Sheng walked over and said with a smile, "I came to see the new atmosphere of the Liu Family."
Liu Qingyan blushed slightly and waved her hand at the clansmen, "That is all for today, you may leave."
The clansmen bowed and retreated, stealing a glance at Chu Sheng as they left, their eyes filled with awe.
They knew that the Liu Family's current status was entirely due to this son-in-law.
Chu Sheng walked under the willow tree and reached out to touch the trunk.
The trunk was warm, with a faint stream of spiritual power flowing through it.
"This tree is not bad," he said.
Liu Qingyan walked to his side, looking up at the canopy with gentle eyes.
"This was planted by my grandfather's grandfather. The name of the Liu Family comes from this tree. It was almost withered before, but after I made a Breakthrough to the True Transformation Realm, I nourished it with my spiritual power, and it came back to life."
Chu Sheng nodded, "The Liu Family is fortunate to have you."
Liu Qingyan shook her head and looked at him earnestly, "The Liu Family has today because of you."
Chu Sheng smiled and did not refute this.
The two sat down under the willow tree, leaning against the trunk, looking up at the willow branches swaying in the wind.
Sunlight leaked through the gaps in the branches and leaves, falling upon them like scattered gold.
"Is it tiring to develop the Family?" Chu Sheng asked.
"It is," Liu Qingyan said truthfully, "but it is worth it."
She paused, her voice softening, "I used to be looked down upon in the Liu Family. Now, I am the Family Head. I want to make the Liu Family the number one Family in Jin Xiao City, and perhaps even the number one Family in the Tianfeng Kingdom."
Chu Sheng held her hand, "That is ambitious."
Liu Qingyan leaned on his shoulder, closing her eyes with a smile on her lips.
"What about you? Where are you going next?"
"The Fengxian Secret Realm. There are some things I need to do."
Liu Qingyan did not ask what, only saying, "Be careful."
Chu Sheng said he would.
The two leaned against each other like this, neither speaking again.
The wind blew, and the willow branches brushed against their faces, tickling them.
Chu Sheng suddenly felt that such days were actually not bad.
But he knew he could not stop.
If he stopped, he would be unable to protect anything.
Liu Qingyan seemed to sense his emotions and reached out to squeeze his fingers tightly.
"No matter how far you go, this place will always be your backing."
Chu Sheng smiled and lowered his head to kiss her forehead.
"Okay."
After staying at the Liu Family for most of the day, Chu Sheng went to see Li Zhiyi and Lin Wanqing.
Li Zhiyi was still practicing her swordplay. When she saw him arrive, she snorted, but the corners of her mouth were upturned.
The two sat in the courtyard for a while, drank a pot of tea, and chatted for a bit.
Lin Wanqing was still at the medical clinic. There were many patients today, and she was so busy she barely had a moment to rest.
Chu Sheng did not disturb her; he only took a look from afar at the entrance before turning to leave.
He reinforced the Restrictions on several Immortal Caves and left some Spirit Stones and Medicinal Pills for each of his Dao Companions.
When City Lord Murong Xiao heard that he had returned, he personally paid a visit, bringing a pile of gifts.
Chu Sheng accepted them and casually rewarded him with a Rank 5 Medicinal Pill.
City Lord Murong Xiao was flattered and almost knelt down.
Chu Sheng waved his hand and said, "After I leave, be attentive to their affairs."
City Lord Murong Xiao patted his chest in assurance, "Elder Chu, rest assured. This subordinate will certainly do his utmost and will never let the ladies suffer the slightest grievance!"
Chu Sheng nodded.
He thought to himself: Although this City Lord Murong Xiao is snobbish, he is quite reliable when it comes to getting things done.
Moreover, with his current cultivation and status, City Lord Murong Xiao would not dare to play any tricks.
With everything arranged properly, Chu Sheng stood on a hill outside Jin Xiao City and looked back at the city.
Twilight gathered, and the lights in the city lit up one by one, like stars scattered on the ground.
His Dao Companions were in one of those lights, and his children were there too.
Chu Sheng took a deep breath, turned around, and walked in the direction of the Fengxian Secret Realm.
His pace was not fast, but it was steady.
He knew that he would return.
