205: Chapter 205 If you can't beat them, call for reinforcements

Chu Sheng gripped the Jade Slip and followed Ye Gucheng toward the core of the Seal.

At the end of the great hall, a massive formation platform hovered in the Void Realm. The platform was covered in dense, intricate runes that shared the same origin as the markings on the Jade Slip.

In the center of the formation platform was a groove, shaped perfectly to accommodate the Jade Slip—that was the eye of the formation.

Ye Gucheng stopped and stepped aside.

He didn't speak, but his meaning was clear: "It's your turn."

Chu Sheng walked over and gently placed the Jade Slip into the groove.

With a click, the Jade Slip embedded itself into the formation platform, fitting perfectly.

The formation platform began to glow, the light spreading outward from the groove like ripples on a pond.

The entire palace shook, and dust fell in flurries.

The crack in the Seal slowly healed in the Void Realm.

That black wound stretching across the firmament seemed to be stitched up by an invisible hand, shrinking bit by bit.

A low hum emanated from the Void Realm, like some sleeping behemoth whose sweet dream had been disturbed; it rolled over and went back to sleep.

"It's done. There shouldn't be any problems for the next thirty years." Ye Gucheng sheathed his sword, turned, and walked toward the exit. "Let's go out."

Chu Sheng followed, sending his Divine Sense into the Jade Slip as he walked.

The complete Legacy of the Taixu Divine Sect opened up in his mind like a library.

Cultivation Techniques, secret arts, Pill Formulas, formation diagrams, and cultivation insights—they were dense and vast as the sea.

He didn't have time to examine them in detail, so he did only one thing—devour.

He forcibly intercepted the content of the first three layers of the Legacy within the Jade Slip and poured it directly into his Divine Sense.

The subsequent Cultivation Techniques for the Taixu True Scripture, the cultivation tips for the Dao Palace Realm, and several highly lethal secret arts flooded into his mind all at once, making his temples throb with pressure.

Three layers.

He had devoured three layers.

He would have to go back and slowly digest the remaining seven layers.

But these three layers alone were already causing his cultivation at the Early Stage of Palace Building to loosen.

The moment he walked out of the gate of the Seal, the sunlight made him squint.

The plaza was packed with people—representatives from various Sects, Elders of Wendao Palace, and Disciples who had arrived upon hearing the news—a dense, dark mass of people.

Ye Cang stood at the very front; seeing Ye Gucheng and Chu Sheng emerge, he nodded slightly.

Then he saw Ling Wushuang, whose expression was not very pleasant.

Ling Wushuang had sent a message to the Heavenly Sword Pavilion.

Chu Sheng didn't know what she had sent, but judging by the way she kept glancing at the zhu xian sword at his waist, it wasn't anything good.

"Chu Sheng." Ye Cang called out to him.

Chu Sheng walked over, and Ye Cang produced a token from his sleeve. It was bronze-colored, with the character "Order" engraved on the front and the sword-shaped emblem of Wendao Palace on the back.

The edges of the token had dark golden markings that faintly emitted a spiritual glow.

"The Wendao Order." Ye Cang's voice wasn't loud, but everyone in the plaza heard it clearly. "With this order, you may mobilize an Elder from any of the Thirty-Six Peaks of Wendao Palace to assist in battle. It is limited to three uses."

He handed the token over, and Chu Sheng caught it; it felt heavy in his hand.

Whispers erupted across the plaza.

The Wendao Order—that was a privilege not even Peak Masters had.

An Outer Sect Elder, not even a formal Peak Master, could actually hold the Wendao Order?

The Peak Master of the Tenth Peak stroked his beard, smiling as if he had known all along.

Ye Gucheng was expressionless, as if he hadn't heard a thing.

Tangtang was in a corner licking a candied hawthorn, mumbling, "The Sect Master is generous."

Chu Sheng gripped the token, only two words in his heart: Invincible.

Three times.

He could call for an Elder three times.

From the Thirty-Six Peaks of Wendao Palace, any Peak Master he summoned would be at least at the Peak of the Dao Palace Realm, and there were quite a few at the Spirit Nurturing stage.

Three Elders, plus himself, plus the four swords of zhuxian, plus the wendao bell—he could turn the people from the Heavenly Sword Pavilion coming to hunt him into sieves.

Furthermore, this was just his safety net.

Ye Cang gave him the token not just to protect him, but to tell those coveting Chu Sheng that he was a member of Wendao Palace; to touch him was to touch Wendao Palace.

Chu Sheng tucked the token into his robes, feeling as if he had tucked a mountain into his chest; it felt secure.

Ling Wushuang withdrew her gaze from the token, her expression becoming even uglier.

But she didn't say anything, simply turning and leaving with the people from the Heavenly Sword Pavilion.

After walking a few steps, she turned back to look at Chu Sheng once more.

In that gaze, the greed remained, the killing intent remained, but there was now a hint of wariness.

Chu Sheng watched her back, feeling very satisfied.

But he didn't get carried away.

He knew the token was just a talisman; his true confidence had to come from himself.

He looked down at his Dantian, where those three layers of the Legacy were being slowly refined; his cultivation at the Early Stage of Palace Building was surging upward as if turbocharged.

In a few more days, he would be able to touch the threshold of the Mid Stage of Palace Building.

With the four swords of zhuxian, the seventy percent refinement of the wendao bell, and the complete Cultivation Technique of the Taixu True Scripture.

Even if he faced someone at the Early Stage of Spirit Nurturing now, he would have the power to fight.

If he couldn't beat them, he would run; if he couldn't run, he would call for help.

Couldn't call for enough help? Then he'd call again.

Chu Sheng returned to the bamboo house on the Sixth Peak, closed the door, and sat down cross-legged.

The Old Grandfather floated out of the ring, looking at him with a complex expression. "You devoured three layers of my Legacy. How does it feel?"

Chu Sheng closed his eyes, feeling the surging spiritual power in his Dantian. "Great. Better than riding a rocket."

The Old Grandfather huffed. "It took me three hundred years to write up to the third layer, and you devoured it in three days. Aren't you afraid of bursting to death?"

Chu Sheng said, "I won't burst; I have the Luck of Wendao Palace supporting me."

The Old Grandfather was silent for a moment, then sighed. "That's true."

"You are now the Lord of Destiny of Wendao Palace; with Luck upon you, you learn everything quickly."

"If I had enjoyed such treatment back then, the Taixu Divine Sect wouldn't have..."

He didn't finish the sentence.

Chu Sheng didn't interject either.

Some things couldn't be explained in just a sentence or two.

Chu Sheng kept his eyes closed, refining the Legacy while calculating his next moves.

The matter of the Sealed Land had come to an end; Feng Qingyang was dead, the remnant soul of the Void Beast King had been collected, and the Taixu Legacy had been obtained.

Next, he had to raise his cultivation level further before the hunting party from the Heavenly Sword Pavilion arrived.

Mid Stage of Palace Building, the four swords of zhuxian fully activated, and the wendao bell completely refined.

By then, he wouldn't be afraid of anyone.

He touched the Wendao Order in his robes, the corners of his mouth curling up.

Three calls for help—he had to use them sparingly.

He couldn't call for help every time someone came looking for trouble; that would be too demeaning.

He had to pick the true heavyweights, the kind who could slap a whole group to death with one palm; only then would it be worth using one chance.

Tangtang counted as one.

Ye Gucheng and the Peak Master of the Tenth Peak would do.

Perhaps he could call other Peak Masters.

Three people, exactly three times.

The more Chu Sheng thought about it, the better it felt; his mouth was almost stretching to his ears.

The Old Grandfather shook his head. "If I had been like you back then, I would have been beaten to death long ago."

Chu Sheng opened his eyes and said something that stunned the Old Grandfather: "That's because you didn't know how to call for help."

The Old Grandfather opened his mouth, wanting to retort, but found he had nothing to say.

Chu Sheng closed his eyes again and continued refining the Legacy.

The Dao Palace in his Dantian was becoming increasingly stable under the scouring of spiritual power; that magnificent, golden palace was rising, expanding, and becoming more solid inch by inch.

On Wendao Peak, the wendao bell suddenly chimed on its own.

Dong—a single, crisp, and lingering chime echoed through the mountains.

Tangtang sat on the railing, looking up at the bell. "What's the rush? He's not going anywhere."

Then she jumped down from the railing, her cloth shoes pattering away.
