385: Chapter 385 What are you babbling about? Subduing the Demon Tower

After finishing Zhou Wantang's aftercare work, Chu Sheng began searching for Yu Rumeng.

Chu Sheng released his Divine Sense, and the Qi within a radius of several thousand miles felt as if it had been caught in an invisible net. All hiding and concealment were stripped away in that single instant.

He quickly locked onto his target.

Yu Rumeng was being chased by four auras, moving in the direction of the Reverse Demon Tower.

She did not run towards open areas, evidently judging that she could not shake off her pursuers, and intended to stall by using the lingering Restrictions on the outskirts of the Reverse Demon Tower.

Very good, she had not yet entered the Reverse Demon Tower.

Chu Sheng was not in a hurry to make a move.

He took a step ahead and landed upon a ruin on the outskirts of the Reverse Demon Tower, finding a spot where he could observe the entrance without being easily discovered, and then quietly waited there.

Waiting for the rabbit.

He leaned against a broken half-section of a stone pillar, crossing his arms, looking as if he were out for a leisurely stroll.

Moments later, Yu Rumeng's figure rushed out from a churning sea of Devilish Qi, her robes torn with several gaps.

Her Qi was clearly somewhat disordered, but her speed remained undiminished.

She glanced back at what was behind her, evidently confirming the distance of her pursuers, and then without hesitation, she darted straight toward the entrance of the Reverse Demon Tower.

Chu Sheng was still leaning against the stone pillar, watching her pass before him with a gaze carrying a sense of amused observation.

After dashing out for a distance, Yu Rumeng suddenly seemed to sense something and abruptly stopped.

Her gaze locked with his across a distance of more than ten zhang.

Yu Rumeng was stunned for a moment, as if recognizing him as the person who had been watching her just now. Then she grew vigilant again, staring at Chu Sheng as though confirming his intentions.

Chu Sheng did not explain, merely nodding his chin toward her back: "Your guests have arrived."

Four figures closely followed, rushing out from the churning Devilish Qi, and stopped dozens of zhang away from Yu Rumeng.

Blue Flame, World-Mixing, Hundred Eyes, along with a face Chu Sheng had a faint but not deep impression of—likely another mid-level Devil King from the Wanmo Hall.

The four Devil Kings suddenly saw Chu Sheng in the middle of their pursuit, and their footsteps paused in unison, as if they hadn't expected someone else to be here.

The leading Devil King, whom Chu Sheng recognized as World-Mixing Devil King, spoke.

"Who is Your Excellency? What happens here is unrelated to Your Excellency; please leave of your own accord. This humble one belongs to the Wanmo Hall, and today we are pursuing a wanted criminal. We hope Your Excellency will not obstruct us."

His tone could not be considered overly harsh, but it carried the natural sense of entitlement belonging to someone on the territory of the Wanmo Hall.

The three Devil Kings behind him also drew closer by a few steps, as if using their positioning to signal that they would not easily back down.

Chu Sheng did not look at him, uttering a single sentence: "What are you babbling about?"

He raised his hand, casually clenching it toward the direction of the four, then releasing it.

Four clusters of black mist rose from the four of them, as if being extracted from their bodies by an invisible hand.

Before they even had time to let out a scream, wrapped within those clusters of black mist, they rapidly collapsed and melted, turning into four pools of dark red pus that seeped into the crevices of the rubble beneath their feet.

Yu Rumeng stood in place, looking at those four pools of pus, then turning her gaze toward Chu Sheng. She opened her mouth as if wanting to express her gratitude.

But before the words could leave her mouth, her gaze lingered on Chu Sheng's face for a moment, as if caught by something.

She looked at Chu Sheng, always feeling that this person seemed familiar to her, as if she had seen him before, yet also as if she hadn't.

She could find no concrete memories to match this feeling, but her body reacted a step earlier than her consciousness.

Chu Sheng did not give her too much time to digest this feeling.

He stepped forward, reached out to embrace her waist, lowered his head, and kissed her.

Yu Rumeng's body stiffened abruptly, and then her body slowly relaxed, as if her strength had been drained away by something.

She collapsed limply into his arms, as if held by an old acquaintance whose origin she herself could not explain.

After a moment, Chu Sheng released her, lowering his head to look at his own cuffs before looking back at her face.

"You are safe now."

Chu Sheng was also filled with myriad emotions; the first time he met Yu Rumeng, she was an existence he could only look up to.

Now, he was already an existence that could casually determine her fate with a wave of his hand.

His gaze crossed over her shoulder, landing upon that towering black giant tower piercing the clouds.

The Reverse Demon Tower still stood proudly there, spanning dozens of miles. Its tower body was as pitch-black as ink, resembling the skeleton of a giant beast that had grown out of the earth.

Buried within the Reverse Demon Tower were Greed's Treasure Trove and lingering resentment; it was truly a pity for those things to remain there.

This old thing, even in death, still clutches his wealth tightly in his hands.

Chu Sheng looked at the tower body, as if suddenly forming some kind of plan.

He patted Yu Rumeng's shoulder, signaling her to back away a few steps, then walked toward the base of the tower, his gaze fixed continuously upon the structure as if estimating its weight and dimensions.

As he walked, he uttered a sentence: "Wait here for a moment."

Yu Rumeng stood in place, watching his retreating figure, wanting to ask what he intended to do, but unable to voice the question.

She simply stood there, watching that retreating figure walk toward the giant tower rumored to have devoured countless Cultivators, his pace as calm as if he were strolling into a courtyard he had booked long in advance.
