109: Chapter 109 Mr. Ghost Opens His Altar, Lin Yuan Sneaks into the Audience.

Fang Xiaoxiao frowned.

"Now?"

"They just got back, they haven't even eaten yet."

Chu Feng glanced at her.

His voice was low.

"These are the rules."

Fang Xiaoxiao wanted to say more.

Ma Chao had already walked behind Lin Yuan and gave him a shove.

The canvas bag in Lin Yuan's hand fell to the ground as a result.

Ma Chao chuckled softly.

"Did you hear that?"

"Mr. Ghost hates useless people the most."

"Senior Chu, I'll take them over."

After saying this, he leaned into Lin Yuan's ear.

"Don't wet your pants later."

Lin Yuan stumbled half a step, then lowered his head to pick up the canvas bag.

"I understand."

Ma Chao scoffed.

"Coward."

Lin Yuan did not look at him.

He kept his head down, but the corner of his eye scanned the cafeteria's back door, the stairwell, and the patrol points.

The supply storage was on the west side of the first floor of the cafeteria.

There were two entrances to the Library basement, one obvious and one hidden.

This Jiang University shelter was more mature than many small bases.

That "Mr. Ghost" really had something going for him.

A dozen or so newcomers were led out of the cafeteria.

The group crossed the playground and entered the Library.

There used to be a fountain at the entrance.

But during the previous battle with the Spine-Breaker, the fountain had collapsed halfway, and dried black blood remained in the crevices of the rubble.

The basement was originally an old reading room.

The bookshelves had been cleared out, leaving only concrete walls and a few emergency lights.

Handwritten slogans were posted on the walls.

[Obey orders to survive.]

[To doubt Mr. Ghost is to doubt your own life.]

[Mr. Ghost can see everything.]

The newcomers rescued by the outing teams stood in a row.

Surrounded by students holding spears and homemade crossbows blocking the exits, the sense of oppression was palpable.

A young man wearing a white fencing suit stood at the front of the platform.

He held a rapier in his hand.

His clothes were very clean.

The tip of the sword was also very clean.

This meant that when he killed people or corpses, he never let blood splatter onto himself.

Two veteran members stood in front of him, heads bowed in prayer.

Someone among the newcomers lowered their voice.

"Bai Jingchen."

"Core teammate of Senior Chu Feng, a B-rank Agility-type Esper, nicknamed White Sword."

"They say he once pierced through seven zombies by himself."

Ma Chao looked at Bai Jingchen, speaking before anyone else could.

"Brother Bai, the newcomers have all arrived."

Bai Jingchen ignored him.

He opened his right hand.

A slip of paper appeared in his palm.

Low gasps broke out among the newcomers.

"Holy crap! How did he do that..."

"The paper appeared out of thin air!"

"It's a message from Mr. Ghost!"

Lin Yuan also looked up, his eyes showing just the right amount of panic.

Bai Jingchen opened the note.

His voice was steady.

"Mr. Ghost welcomes everyone to the Jiang University shelter."

"Being able to survive until now is your luck, and also his mercy."

The basement became even quieter.

A second note appeared in Bai Jingchen's palm.

"The official authorities have rotted away."

"Private fortresses only exploit survivors."

"Jiang University is the last spark of hope in the apocalypse."

The third note.

"Chu Feng is responsible for combat."

"Mr. Ghost is responsible for the future."

Bai Jingchen paused for a second.

He read the last sentence.

"Here, Mr. Ghost is God."

Lin Yuan kept his head down, nearly laughing.

These days, playing god has started to go into mass production.

A burly man next to him couldn't help but shout: "You say you're God, then come out!"

"I want to see if God even has balls!"

The basement fell into instant silence.

The expressions of several veteran members changed.

Bai Jingchen looked at the burly man.

His right pinky finger twitched slightly.

The note appeared again.

Bai Jingchen unfolded it.

"Zhang Hu."

"You hid half a pack of cigarettes under your insole."

"You hid a small knife on the right side of your waistband."

"Three days ago, on Ping'an Road, you pushed down a companion to lure away zombies so you could escape alone."

The color drained from the burly man's face.

Two students stepped forward.

They pulled the half-pack of crumpled cigarettes from under his insole.

They also searched out the small knife from his waistband.

The newcomers all backed away in unison.

Bai Jingchen raised his eyes.

"God does not need to show himself."

"He can still see your sins."

Zhang Hu's legs went weak, and he knelt down.

"I was wrong!"

"I won't dare to do it again!"

Bai Jingchen didn't look at him.

"Drag him away."

Two students hauled Zhang Hu away.

No one dared to plead for him.

Some newcomers heard a dull thud from the end of the hallway, and their faces turned pale instantly.

A girl in the crowd covered her mouth, tears streaming down.

She had shared a sip of water with Zhang Hu that morning.

The veteran members didn't even blink.

Lin Yuan kept his head down, spreading out his Mental Energy.

Before the note appeared, Bai Jingchen's pinky finger would move.

His eyes would scan the target beforehand.

This wasn't a random oracle.

It didn't look like someone behind the scenes was transmitting messages from afar either.

Bai Jingchen was actively triggering some kind of ability.

This so-called Mr. Ghost might not really be in the shadows.

Lin Yuan lowered his head, the corners of his mouth twitching downward.

He suddenly felt that this so-called Mr. Ghost, just like Shen Qingyue's shop system, liked to make the packaging bigger than the substance.

Bai Jingchen continued speaking.

"Please stand where you are and wait a moment; Mr. Ghost will examine everyone's past."

"If you are pious enough."

"You too can become a God-Chosen One like me."

Just as Lin Yuan was debating whether to kill this Bai Jingchen, who might be a player, the basement lights flickered.

Footsteps were heard on the ground above.

A student rushed into the basement.

"It's bad!"

"The official authorities have arrived at the East Gate!"

"They want to forcibly reorganize Jiang University!"

Bai Jingchen was startled and quickly led several veteran members out of the basement.

Lin Yuan followed the crowd as well.

East Gate.

Outside the earthen wall, three military armored vehicles were parked at the intersection.

Dark red flesh remnants still lingered on the front of the vehicles.

Dozens of soldiers held their guns in alert.

The one leading the group was a Major.

He held a temporary reorganization order signed by Director Li Wenhui.

He held a megaphone in his right hand.

"All armed personnel of Jiang University, accept reorganization immediately!"

"Supplies must be registered uniformly!"

"Those who join the official team will have their families evacuated first, and Awakened Ones will be directly included in special units."

"Those who refuse to register will be treated as hiding strategic supplies and illegal armed assembly."

The students on the wall raised spears and Molotov cocktails.

Chu Feng stood on the earthen wall.

"Jiang University was defended by us."

"The supplies were also looted back by us."

"If you want to cooperate, that's fine."

"If you want to take over, no way."

Xu Mengmeng stood behind him, holding a crossbow.

Major Zhao didn't turn hostile immediately.

He changed his tone.

"You are all students."

"The country has cultivated you for so many years; now that the country needs you, how can you be so selfish?"

He pointed to the wounded soldiers behind him.

"They lost limbs saving civilians."

"The last time the official team held off the outer zombie horde, you had the chance to defend the school."

"If you don't accept reorganization, Jiang University won't be on the next rescue list."

Some people inside the wall lowered their heads.

A few parents started crying.

Others retorted.

The crowd began to split.

This was the effect Major Zhao wanted.

Ma Chao, who had just arrived, heard this and suddenly jumped onto the earthen wall, pointing outside and cursing.

"You official authorities are just a bunch of trash!"

"Get lost!"

As soon as these words fell, the soldiers behind Major Zhao raised their guns simultaneously.

The students on the Jiang University side also lit their Molotov cocktails.

The atmosphere tightened instantly.

Chu Feng turned back and shouted angrily: "Shut up!"

Someone inside the wall recognized Ma Chao and mocked him in a low voice.

"Why play the hero at a time like this? The guns aren't just pointed at him."

Ma Chao's face looked ugly.

He wanted to play the loyal subject.

Instead, he almost ignited the situation.

Just then.

A note appeared in Xu Mengmeng's palm.

She was stunned for a moment, then immediately read: "The official authorities aren't here to save you."

"They are here to devour you."

"Whoever hands over their weapons will be the first to become cannon fodder."

After Xu Mengmeng finished reading, she looked at Bai Jingchen, but Bai Jingchen avoided her gaze.

The unrest inside the wall stopped.

Those who had been wavering also gripped their weapons tightly.

This sentence was more effective than a hundred explanations from Chu Feng.

Lin Yuan stood in the crowd, looking at Bai Jingchen.

Bai Jingchen stood behind and to the side of Chu Feng.

His fingers had just been lowered.

Major Zhao also saw that Jiang University had stabilized.

His face darkened, and he raised the megaphone.

"Whoever is willing to join the official team, bring your weapons and crystal cores out!"

"You will be given official status immediately!"

"Two meals a day!"

"Priority treatment if you have medicine!"

These words slammed into the crowd.

The inside of the East Gate immediately exploded into chaos.

He raised his right hand.

The soldiers behind him began to set up their guns.

Two light machine guns were aimed at the East Gate.

Major Zhao's voice turned cold.

"This is your last chance."

"Open the school gate within thirty seconds."

"Otherwise, die."
