99: Chapter 99 Complete Silence! The Heavenly Palace on the Clouds Under the Red Moon

Ten seconds after the Red Moon rose, Lin Yuan picked up the walkie-talkie. "Full silence."

The voice spread throughout Tiangong No. 1, the Inner Circle, the outer circle, and Ston School.

"Turn off all non-essential lights." "No shouting." "No firing at will."

In the dining room, just as Tang Qiqi was about to speak, Qin Yumo glanced at her. Tang Qiqi immediately covered her mouth.

She understood. The Great Demon King was not in joking mode right now.

Lin Yuan continued: "Ston School, Liu Bin, Jiang Hao." Liu Bin's lowered voice immediately came through the channel. "Mr. Lin, I'm here."

"Seal the doors and windows. All students must enter the Sports Stadium." "Leave two people to guard the cold storage entrance." "Whoever dares to turn on a light, break their hand."

Jiang Hao's voice was even tougher. "Understood."

The next second, a trembling girl's voice came over the channel. "Jiang... Jiang Hao, I need to use the restroom."

Jiang Hao was silent for half a second. "Do it where you are." The girl was stunned.

Jiang Hao added, "Or go outside and find a zombie to solve it." No one else in the Sports Stadium spoke.

Liu Bin said in a low voice: "Did everyone hear that? If you don't want to die, swallow your pride."

Lin Yuan turned off the Ston channel. Su Xiaonuan held her tablet and gave orders quickly. "Liu Qing, take over all surveillance."

Liu Qing sat before the console, her fingers tapping away rapidly. "Received." She pushed up her thick glasses. "From now on, there is no privacy in Cloud Top Palace."

Tang Qiqi whispered: "That line is pretty cool, the hacker girl version is online." No one paid her any mind.

Qin Yumo had finished putting on her gear. The cut-resistant tactical suit hugged her waistline. Her alloy arm guards were buckled tight. Her military boots struck the floor with a heavy sound.

Behind her back, two machetes were crossed and secured; a short knife and a crystal core pouch hung from her waist, and she carried a modified compound crossbow in her hand. Her red hair was tied into a high ponytail.

She looked at the Red Moon on the main screen, her breathing heavier than usual. Wild Resonance was stirring.

Lin Yuan looked at her. "You guard the outermost layer." Qin Yumo lowered her head. "Yes." She paused. "Master, how many can I kill?"

Lin Yuan said: "Kill until I tell you to stop." The corners of Qin Yumo's mouth twitched. This sentence was a reward second only to training in the master bedroom.

On the other side, Wang Ya had entered the pool area. She had changed into a one-piece swimsuit and stood in the center of the pool. The entire pool of water slowly rose.

The water swirled around her like transparent armor plates, clinging to her sides in layers. Wang Ya looked up at the surveillance camera. "Mr. Lin, can I go to the outer circle?"

"No need." Lin Yuan's tone remained unchanged. "You only guard the Inner Circle." Wang Ya lowered her head. "Yes."

Lin Motong stood beside Lin Yuan. She was exceptionally quiet today. Her small hands held hot milk, but she hadn't taken a single sip. She stared at the city district below the mountain.

Deep in her pupils, a dark red emerged, then quickly sank back down. Su Muxue noticed it. Her fingertips paused on the edge of her glove for a second. "Lin Motong is not right."

Lin Yuan said: "Tonight, she cannot leave my sight." Su Muxue looked at him. "The reason?" "Wait for her to tell us herself."

Lin Motong looked up at Lin Yuan. "Uncle Lin, it's very noisy down the mountain." Tang Qiqi looked at the main screen. "Where is it noisy? Why can't I hear anything?" Lin Motong said: "It just is, very noisy."

The living room quieted down. Lin Yuan patted her head. "Then remember these sounds." "In the future, make them shut up."

On the outer wall of Cloud Top Palace, Lu Yan looked down at the shantytown below. He raised his hand and pressed it against the ground. Rumble. The soil turned over.

The first trench appeared. Then the second. The third. Crushed stone, rebar, and concrete blocks were pressed together to form simple anti-cavalry obstacles.

Fat Dragon led people to distribute weapons. Steel pipes. Kitchen knives. Shovels. He cursed loudly. "Groups of ten!" "Whoever dares to run, I'll break their legs first!"

"Don't tell me you used to be a chairman, professor, or manager." "Everyone is the same now." "If you're breathing, grab a weapon!"

The survivors in the shantytown turned pale. But no one dared to retreat. The roars coming from down the mountain were getting closer. They finally understood. Lin Yuan wasn't bluffing.

Under the Red Moon, Cloud Top Palace was a lighthouse. It was also a piece of meat. Whoever didn't fight would be eaten.

Captain Han Xue stood by the isolation line, holding a gun. Lu Yan had already given her new ammunition. She watched Fat Dragon organize the people into teams.

Before, she would have thought it absurd. Now she only asked one question. "How are the women and the elderly being arranged?" Fat Dragon was stunned. "How do you want to arrange them?"

Captain Han Xue said coldly: "The elderly will sharpen wooden stakes; the women will move stones." "Those under fourteen hide in the houses." "Register anyone who is injured."

Fat Dragon grinned. "Captain Han, you're becoming more and more like one of us." Captain Han Xue didn't respond.

On the main screen, the official counterattack was still advancing. Near the broadcast tower, armored vehicles rammed through roadblocks. Soldiers occupied the hall. Someone raised a flag and shouted victory.

In the direction of Jiangcheng University, autocannons crushed several Mutants into the ruins. On the main road of the city center, Tanks were lined up, their muzzles spitting fire.

Director Li Wenhui's voice trembled in the channel, not from fear, but from excitement. "Record this!" "Record it all!" "This is the first battle for the liberation of Jiangcheng!" "I want all survivors to know that order has returned!"

Liu Qing switched to another feed. Inside a Zhe City command vehicle, a middle-aged officer stood before a map, his brows furrowed tightly. It was Jiang Xiaowan's uncle, Jiang Chengye.

He stared at the Red Moon on the monitor. "All units, stop the advance." The adjutant was stunned. "Commander?"

Jiang Chengye said: "Find cover and construct defensive lines on the spot." Director Li Wenhui's voice immediately cut in. "Commander Jiang, now is the time to expand our gains!" "It's just that the sky has darkened?"

"We have already recaptured the broadcast tower; the next step should be to issue a city-wide announcement immediately!" Jiang Chengye glanced at him. "Please take Director Li out." Two guards stepped forward.

Director Li Wenhui's expression changed. "What are you doing? I am from the Jiangcheng Temporary Coordination Committee..." The guards directly grabbed him. The communication was cut off.

Tang Qiqi blinked. "This uncle seems more like a human being than Director Li Wenhui." Lin Yuan said: "Seeming like a human doesn't mean he can win."

Liu Qing suddenly looked up. "There's movement on the underground surveillance." The screen switched. Subway entrance. In the darkness, a hand gripped the escalator. Then a second one. A third.

Dense swarms of zombies squeezed out from underground. The manhole covers of the air-raid shelters were blown off. The glass doors of the underground shopping mall exploded from the inside. The Zombie Horde, as if pulled by the same thread, lunged in the direction where the gunfire was most intense.

On the satellite map, the previously clean streets were filled with red dots within one minute. Liu Qing's voice went dry. "The numbers are wrong." "This isn't a wandering Zombie Horde." "This is the entire underground stock being released at once."

On the main screen, the coalition forces on the front line encountered an assault. Heavy machine guns opened fire. Ammunition belts were consumed frantically. The gun barrels quickly turned red. Tank cannons blasted open an empty space.

The next second, the Zombie Horde filled it again. An Earth-type C-Class Mutant crawled out from underground and directly overturned an infantry fighting vehicle. The soldiers inside rolled out, but before they could get up, they were covered by the Zombie Horde.

A Bone-Spike Mutant sprinted along the ground. Its bone spike pierced the bulletproof vest, pinning a machine gunner to the vehicle door. An Acid-type Mutant climbed onto the turret. Green liquid sprayed out. The turret casing began to smoke, and screams came from inside.

Captain Han Xue stood at the doorway, her face turning pale bit by bit. Director Li Wenhui grabbed the channel back again. "Hold the line!" "Front line, hold!" "Anyone who retreats will be treated as a deserter!"

The scene shifted. His security convoy was retreating. Three vehicles blocked the retreat path. The armored vehicles behind were forced to stop. A soldier grabbed the car window and roared. "Move aside!" "The front is blocked!" The guards raised their guns. "Director Li has priority for evacuation!"

The next second, screams came from inside an armored vehicle. A soldier who had been bitten ten minutes ago had hidden his wound. Under the Red Moon, he turned into a zombie prematurely. He pounced on the driver and bit through his neck. The vehicle lost control and crashed into friendly forces. Boom! Two vehicles became jammed in a pile. The Zombie Horde swarmed over them.

The channel was full of static. "Requesting support!" "The left flank has fallen!" "Don't open the door! He's been bitten!" "The infection rate is wrong!"

Liu Qing quickly intercepted the signal. Her expression changed. "Mr. Lin, there is a distress signal being sent from the military." On the main screen, a fragmented video popped up. The camera shook violently. Someone was crying. Someone was pounding on the car door.

"The Red Moon is affecting the infection rate..." "Repeat, infection rate is accelerating..." "Requesting fire support..." "No, don't open the door!" "He's not a human anymore—"

In the footage, a Tank was surrounded by the Zombie Horde. The tracks were still turning. The cannon was still moving. But the Zombie Horde was crawling all over the vehicle. A Mutant forced the hatch open. Gunshots came from inside. Three seconds later, the gunfire stopped. The Tank was completely submerged by the pitch-black Zombie Horde.

Lin Yuan watched the main screen. The Red Moon hung high. The Zombie Horde was diverting towards Cloud Top Palace. Lu Xixi's voice rang out again. This time, she was almost crying. "Uncle Lin." "There is a brown dot within the gray dots." "It is not on the ground." "It is underground." "It is coming towards us."
