264: Chapter 264 Your Horde of Corpses, Now Listen to Me

The gates of Anji Hall opened.

The captain of the guards held onto the doorframe and retreated to the side, his legs still shaking.

A man in his forties walked out.

His old jacket was buttoned to the collar, his hands were empty, and his soles stepped over the scattered Chinese medicine boxes inside the door.

The guards made way.

"Master Hu."

Master Hu looked at the hands of Lin Yuan and Yu Qingyi, which were clasped together.

"You two broke into Sanlintang, are you here to make friends?"

Yu Qingyi did not respond to the banter.

"Yu Zhengting, he has an old injury on his left leg. Zhou Lan, she often carries a blue cloth medicine bag."

She mentioned a few other traits that only family members would know.

After listening, Master Hu raised his hand and touched the knife marks on the doorframe.

"These two are indeed with me."

Yu Qingyi felt a surge of joy and wanted to rush into the building.

But her hand was still held by Lin Yuan, so she did not move forward.

Master Hu blocked the doorway.

"Little girl, I don't care which faction you belong to."

"When the apocalypse first arrived, we residents of the alleyway blocked the doors to save ourselves."

"Fortunately, a few people who awakened Superpowers built this Anji Hall together, and that's how everyone survived."

"When the Japanese entered Shanghai, the outer defensive lines retreated, and there was chaos and fighting over in Lujiazui, but no one came to help us."

He pointed to the sandbags, the examination beds, and the bloodstains on the wall.

"Both times, no one cared."

"Now, you two swagger up to the entrance of my Anji Hall and even beat up my guard captain. Why should I believe you're only here to find someone?"

Master Hu tapped the doorframe three times.

Inside Anji Hall, six surveillance screens lit up.

Around the perimeter of Sanlintang, at the old street intersections, and in the supermarket parking lot, hundreds of zombies wandered along fixed routes.

When they encountered intersections marked with cloth strips, they turned around, avoiding the alleys where people lived.

"I won't hide it from you two, I am an A-rank Esper."

Master Hu stared at Lin Yuan.

"People outside call me the Corpse Driver."

"Whoever wants to cause trouble here just ends up as two new members for them."

The guard by the door picked up a steel fork.

Several gaps in the second-floor windows opened, and crossbow bolts poked out.

Someone whispered, "With Master Hu here, no one can turn the world upside down."

Just as the cyan wing patterns were about to unfurl on Yu Qingyi's back, the sound of a medicine cabinet being knocked over suddenly came from inside.

A woman carrying a blue cloth medicine bag rushed out.

"Qingyi!"

A man followed behind her.

His left leg landed a beat slow, and he leaned on the medicine cabinet as he chased to the entrance.

The polite smile on Yu Qingyi's face vanished.

She opened her mouth twice, but the first "Mom" did not come out.

It wasn't until Zhou Lan threw herself into her arms that her stiff shoulders and back finally slumped.

Zhou Lan hugged her daughter, her hands touching her face, shoulders, and arms.

"You're still alive... thank goodness, we thought..."

Her father, Yu Zhengting, grabbed her shoulders, looked her over several times, and then let out a breath.

"It's good that you're alive."

Yu Qingyi lowered her head, letting her mother hold her.

Lin Yuan's expression remained unchanged.

Master Hu didn't move from the doorway.

Seeing the tense, sword-drawn atmosphere, Yu Zhengting hurriedly spoke up.

"Three days ago, we came to seek refuge with Old Hu. He gave us food and assigned us a place to stay."

The guards lowered their weapons.

The misunderstanding was resolved, but the wariness in Master Hu's eyes remained.

He turned around and said, "Since you've seen the people, come inside."

The group passed through the back door of Anji Hall and followed a sealed passage into a Sam's Club supermarket.

The shelves had been converted into living areas.

With curtains installed, people could live there.

The cold storage and warehouse areas still held large quantities of supplies, with two guards at the entrance.

No one looted; everyone followed the rules.

Yu Zhengting said, "The nearby warehouses were all consolidated here. Master Hu is quite good to everyone."

Master Hu walked onto the second-floor platform.

There were sentries stationed in the parking lot below.

Hundreds of zombies blocked the outer street intersections, forming a perimeter around the living area.

"Young man, I know you are very strong, daring to bring your girlfriend and break into my place alone."

Master Hu held the railing and patted it twice.

"You've found your people, you can take them away."

"But don't even think about lecturing me on anything."

The activity inside the supermarket stopped.

Hundreds of gazes turned toward the second floor.

Lin Yuan did not respond to him.

He simply activated the status of Wang Ya's SS-rank Mutant, the SS-rank [Water Calamity].

Outside the parking lot, the hundreds of patrolling zombies stopped simultaneously.

Their soles dragged across the ground.

The horde turned in unison, faced the second-floor platform, and prostrated themselves.

Master Hu raised his hand.

"Rise."

"Continue patrolling!"

The horde did not react.

"I said, go seal the south entrance!"

They remained prostrate.

Master Hu gritted his teeth and activated his Superpower for the third time.

Sweat broke out on his forehead, and the railing made a faint sound in his grip.

The hundreds of zombies didn't even lift their heads.

The survivors downstairs were stunned.

Master Hu, the "Corpse Driver," was a prominent figure among survivors in all of Shanghai.

Did his Superpower fail today?

Is he on his period?

Lin Yuan looked at Master Hu.

"You should be grateful."

"That you didn't use this horde of zombies to attack me."

Master Hu let go of the railing.

In front of an SS-rank, an A-rank couldn't even command a single ordinary zombie.

Lin Yuan retracted his Superpower, and the horde stood up again, but they did not resume patrolling.

They stood in place, waiting for new instructions.

Master Hu was silent for a moment.

"Do you want Sanlintang?"

"Your place isn't worth me making the trip."

Lin Yuan took out a paper record and placed it on the platform table.

"The registrar who took down the information for Yu Zhengting and his wife has gone missing."

"Why would I capture a registrar?"

Master Hu looked up.

"I didn't capture them."

Master Hu answered quickly.

Yu Zhengting and Zhou Lan approached the two cautiously.

Their daughter had already told them what a terrifying existence Lin Yuan was.

She didn't give details, but she said this was not someone a small place like Sanlintang could provoke.

The two of them remembered Master Hu's kindness, so they gathered their courage and had their daughter bring them up.

"There was no conflict during registration. That young man even took our photos and said that after Shanghai's takeover is complete, they would arrange for family verification."

Zhou Lan thought for a moment.

"However, there was a man wearing a cross who kept staring at him."

"When we left the registration point, that man followed us out."

Lin Yuan looked at Yu Qingyi.

Yu Qingyi took out a map and drew a line between Sanlintang and the registration point.

The line continued eastward, ending near the abandoned port area of Shanghai.

Lin Yuan looked at Master Hu.

"I'm taking these people."

"I will tell Zhao Dingshan not to come and trouble you."

"If you and Sanlintang want to keep your rules, write down every place where the cross has appeared."

Master Hu glanced at the horde of zombies waiting for orders outside the parking lot.

"Fine."

Yu Qingyi stood beside her parents and held Lin Yuan's hand tightly.

This journey to find her family was over.

The account for Shanghai had only just opened its first page.

Tiangong No. 1 living room.

Jiang Xiaowan walked in, holding her waist, holding a picture of an Hermes bag in her hand.

She had wanted to act coquettishly with Lin Yuan to see if he could buy it for her from the mall.

After asking Captain Han Xue, she learned that he had gone to Shanghai.

"Wan City was just taken, and the Holy Court is still eyeing Anar."

"He has time to accompany Yu Qingyi to find her parents?"

She placed the picture on the table.

"Internal and external troubles, yet he goes out to pick up girls."

Su Xiaonuan closed her tablet.

Core members were all arranged for rotation.

Her name was not on the rotation schedule.

Seeing that she didn't respond, Jiang Xiaowan asked again, "Yu Qingyi has no combat experience. Is it necessary to go to such lengths for a burden?"

Su Xiaonuan looked up.

"You have Level 2 clearance and are General Manager Lin's woman."

"You can complain."

"But you cannot question General Manager Lin's actions."

Jiang Xiaowan stared at her.

Before the apocalypse, if this little secretary had dared to say that, she would have slapped her already.

Now, Su Xiaonuan sat in the main seat, and all the supplies, personnel, and authority of Tiangong No. 1 passed through her hands.

Jiang Xiaowan suppressed her anger and touched her stomach.

Once her son was born, she would deal with this little housekeeper who couldn't lay an egg.

A red notification popped up on the duty screen.

[Urgent from Zhe City: General Manager Jiang Xiong has been involved in a conflict with unknown personnel; local troops have intervened to control the situation.]

The expression on Jiang Xiaowan's face changed.

"My dad?"
