270: Chapter 270 The Savior of the Capital? Lin Yuan Arrives Riding an Angel

The ambulance drove over the rubble of the second defense line.

Wang Ya lay on the stretcher, blood from under her combat uniform seeping into the seat.

She was still clutching her teddy bear with both arms, its crooked ear pressed against her chest.

The Military Medic pressed down on the hemostatic pad.

"Ms. Wang, please don't move."

Wang Ya looked up.

"How is the battle going?"

"General Zhao is rallying the troops."

The Military Medic turned the in-vehicle screen toward her.

The gaps on the flanks of the port area were widening.

Sea beasts trampled over the wreckage of the levee, and artillerymen dragged ammunition boxes as they retreated.

Steel helmets, wooden planks, and broken gun straps floated in the stagnant water.

The King of the Deep Sea stopped five hundred meters away.

Its trident pressed against the surface of the waves.

It did not pursue, its gaze fixed on the direction the ambulance was evacuating.

Inside the second relocation point, a man pushed open the sealed door.

"Why keep fighting? Hand over that woman, and the Sea King will retreat!"

Zhao Dingshan raised his gun.

As the gunshot rang out, the man collapsed into the water by the door, blood gushing from his forehead.

"Seal the door."

"Take stock of the weapons."

"Anyone else inciting surrender will be treated as an enemy collaborator."

The adjutant wiped the mud and water from his face.

"The second defense line only has forty percent of its firepower left."

Zhao Dingshan grabbed the communicator.

"Even if there's only ten percent left, set it up for me."

A roar came from high above.

The clouds were pushed aside by blue exhaust flames.

A two-meter-tall powered mecha descended toward the position, its feet smashing into the concrete, sending fragments flying over the sandbags.

The crystal core cannon on its shoulder rotated.

Four flight modules on its back spewed heat waves.

The emblem of the Capital shone on the center of its chest armor.

The public channel was forcibly accessed.

"Capital Coastal Emergency Group, S-rank mecha pilot Gu Beichen."

"I am taking over the Shanghai defense line."

Zhao Dingshan stared at the mecha.

"Don't be reckless, accept unified command."

Gu Beichen raised his mechanical arm, the crystal core cannon aimed at the sea beasts climbing over the levee.

"You have already failed."

"I will guard Shanghai."

The muzzle spewed blue light.

A dozen fish-men in the front row were blasted into the seabed.

The mecha stepped over the levee, grabbed a C-rank fish-man, and hurled it into the herd of beasts.

Bones and carapaces collided in a heap.

A sea snake lunged from the side.

The shoulder cannon turned.

A blue beam pierced the snake's head, carrying the corpse thirty meters away.

Behind the position, several soldiers stood up again.

Shouts erupted from the relocation point as well.

"The Capital has come to support us!"

"The powered mecha can fight!"

The King of the Deep Sea raised its trident.

A surge of seawater coiled around the mecha's left leg.

Gu Beichen activated his metal Superpower.

Silver-gray veins crawled over the outer armor, and the armor plates bent by the tentacles snapped back into place.

The mechanical leg exerted force, tearing the water flow apart.

He charged forward two hundred meters.

The crystal core cannon fired alternately.

Sea beasts fell into the mud in droves.

The King of the Deep Sea retreated a distance again, half of its body submerged in the seawater.

Gu Beichen stood on the centerline of the port, his mechanical arm pointing at the sea surface.

"Withdraw from the territorial waters of the Dragon Kingdom."

"This is not a place for you to run wild."

The Capital's public channel broadcasted the event in real-time.

The announcer's voice reached every relocation point.

"Gu Beichen has suppressed the King of the Deep Sea Mutant."

"The coastal defense line is still in our hands."

Gu Beichen turned on the external speaker.

"The sea that Lin Yuan's people couldn't block, I will block."

"After today, Shanghai will remember who saved them."

"Please think clearly, whether you want to listen to Lin Yuan or the Capital."

Capital Control Center.

Adam held a thermos cup, staring at the battlefield curve.

The energy of the King of the Deep Sea had not dropped.

The amount of water it had mobilized was not even one-tenth of the first tsunami.

Adam pressed the communication button, then released it.

Frontline morale had just been pulled back.

Telling Gu Beichen to be cautious now would cause the entire defense line to lose heart.

"Lu Hai's two mechas, after you finish dealing with the threats, move closer to Shanghai as soon as possible. The transport plane will wait at the airport."

Zhao Dingshan, however, did not have this concern.

"Gu Beichen, you are no match for it. I order you to return to the defense line immediately!"

The mecha rose into the air.

Gu Beichen looked down at the position.

"The judgment of a defeated general has no reference value."

Inside the ambulance.

Wang Ya propped herself up, and blood seeped from her wound again.

On the screen, seawater was swirling around the trident.

One circle.

Two circles.

The sea surface was not pursuing the mecha, but the water vapor over the port area was increasing.

Wang Ya tapped the isolation window.

"Make him come back."

The Military Medic turned around.

"What?"

"That thing is preparing a big move."

The warning was transmitted to the command post.

Zhao Dingshan called Gu Beichen again.

The King of the Deep Sea moved first.

It plunged its trident into the seabed.

Red clouds were pushed toward Shanghai by the water vapor.

Raindrops the size of beans pelted the mecha's shell.

The rain crossed the port area, the Huangpu River, and the Hongqiao Command Center, and the streets were soon flooded.

Drainage pipes spewed columns of water.

Abandoned river channels filled up again.

Low-lying ditches connected all the way to the East Sea.

The King of the Deep Sea knew that its opponent was only S-rank, and even with the mecha, it was only slightly stronger than an ordinary S-rank, nowhere near SS-rank.

But it still mobilized the entire water network of Shanghai.

It was afraid of a trap.

The trident was raised.

The rainwater around the mecha condensed into chains, locking onto its arms, knees, and flight modules.

Gu Beichen grunted.

The metal outer armor expanded outward, and the first layer of water locks shattered.

The crystal core cannon on its shoulder began to charge.

Rainwater drilled into the cooling vents.

The muzzle lit up twice, but the blue light quickly dimmed.

Gu Beichen slammed the restart button.

"Open, damn it!"

The King of the Deep Sea, hundreds of meters away, swung its trident with all its might.

A lion fighting a rabbit.

Compressed water flow pierced the chest armor.

The two-meter-tall mecha fell from mid-air, crashing into the levee.

The cockpit cover flew into the stagnant water, Gu Beichen propped himself up against the edge of the cockpit, and blood dripped from his chin into the console.

A second stream of water hit his chest.

Man and mecha were embedded into the concrete together.

Half a sentence came through the public channel.

"I f*cking..."

The signal was left with only static noise.

Inside the relocation point, the shouting stopped completely.

The King of the Deep Sea swung its trident again.

This time, no water flow rushed out, but a dense army behind it.

Various crab monsters and lobster monsters rushed over, waving their claws.

The stagnant water in the artillery position rose above the ankles.

The transport vehicle's tires sank into the mud, and three outer guard posts lost contact.

Zhao Dingshan took off his military cap and placed it on the command console.

"Abandon the second defense line."

"Lieutenant Colonel Liu Zheng, take the wounded and retreat to the other side of the Huangpu River."

"The artillerymen stay behind to seal the centerline."

Lieutenant Colonel Liu Zheng pushed a wounded soldier onto the transport vehicle and turned to carry an ammunition box.

"I'm staying."

"You are responsible for the evacuation."

"Old Zhao, my military rank isn't low enough to only send away the wounded."

Zhao Dingshan glanced at him.

"If we survive, we'll write a joint report."

Inside the ambulance, Wang Ya raised her hand.

The stagnant water on the street gathered into a stream flowing along the ground, but it dispersed after chasing for a few meters.

Her arm fell back onto the stretcher, her breathing suppressed under the hemostatic pad.

The teddy bear was pressed against her chest.

The black-red stitches flashed twice.

On the main screen, the defense line markers went out one after another.

The waves were crowded with sea beasts, and carapaces, fish fins, and tentacles covered the sea surface.

The King of the Deep Sea approached, riding the waves.

The trident pointed toward the Hongqiao Command Center.

"Hand over that woman from just now."

"I will leave some survivors on land."

Zhao Dingshan wiped the rain from his face.

"Last round of artillery fire."

"Calibrate to the port centerline."

The artillerymen pried open the waterproof boxes and loaded the ammunition.

Lieutenant Colonel Liu Zheng led the reserve team into the position.

In the relocation points everywhere, no one mentioned surrender anymore.

Survivors brought sandbags and dismantled tabletops to plug door gaps and drainage outlets.

The breechblock closed.

"Coordinates confirmed!"

The gunner's hand had just pressed onto the firing lever.

A platinum holy light lit up above the clouds.

Black-red corpse energy pressed down along with it.

Four wings tore through the rain curtain.

Anar swooped down from high altitude, her long silver hair plastered behind her shoulders.

Lin Yuan stood on her back, overlooking the entire port area.

The wings swept across the sky over Shanghai.

The torrential rain parted from the center of the city.

The holy light spread to both sides, and the black-red corpse energy descended into the sea beast swarm.

The fish-men that had climbed over the levee crouched into the stagnant water, the sea snakes pressed against the mud layer, and even the waves lowered by half.

Around Lin Yuan, the rainwater retreated for a hundred meters.

The artillerymen looked up.

Lieutenant Colonel Liu Zheng stood where he was, holding the ammunition box.

In the ambulance, Wang Ya pressed the teddy bear into her arms.

The King of the Deep Sea withdrew the trident pointing toward the Hongqiao Command Center, the tsunami behind it rising high, and the seawater obscured the red moon.

Anar stopped above the port.

The clear sky and the torrential rain were separated along the seabed.

Lin Yuan lowered his head, looking at the Capital mecha embedded in the levee.

"Fighting to be the savior."

"Why are you lying down?"

Gu Beichen coughed up a mouthful of blood and couldn't lift his head.

Lin Yuan turned to the King of the Deep Sea.

"My woman, you were the one who hit her?"
