79: Chapter 79 Living, not living completely
The commercial street outside Jinjiang No. 1 had turned into a complete mess.
A milk tea shop sign was broken in half, hanging from the second-floor exterior wall, swaying back and forth.
A zombie was dragging half a high-heeled shoe, circling near the escalator.
Tang Qiqi leaned against the rear car window, took one look, and immediately pulled back.
"So the rich district was secretly doing business."
She clutched her baseball bat tight.
"The apocalypse is already here, and they're still buying bags."
Xia Qingqiu didn't respond.
She saw a woman lying at the entrance of a jewelry store, wearing five or six gold bracelets on her wrist, her stomach already hollowed out.
The price tags from the old world were still stuck to the display window.
Lin Yuan pressed down on the steering wheel, and the george patton rolled over the curb, its bumper ramming a sports car parked across the road and pushing it aside by force.
At the same time, inside the sales center of Jinjiang No. 1.
Jiang Xiaowan leaned against a pillar in the lobby.
She held a small pink pistol in her hand, the muzzle shaking violently.
Her hair was messy.
Her coat was torn.
Her slender legs were stained with dust and specks of blood.
Only two bodyguards remained in front of her.
One had his shoulder slashed open but was still gritting his teeth to block the front.
The other had been stabbed in the chest, the telescopic baton in his hand already deformed.
Jiang Xiaowan had intended to use the motorcade to attract attention, then make her way from the sales center's emergency exit to her backup vehicle.
But the plan failed as soon as it began.
This group had long since laid tire spikes on the only path her motorcade could take.
Fatty Wang stood under the crystal chandelier.
A gold chain, snatched from a resident, hung around his thick neck.
He was originally the head of security for Jinjiang No. 1.
Before the apocalypse, he wouldn't even dare to straighten his back when he saw Jiang Xiaowan.
Now, however, he had a machete slung over his shoulder, with over a dozen security guards and residents standing behind him.
"Miss Jiang."
Fatty Wang wiped the sweat from his face, his fat rolling as he grinned.
"Your family's bodyguards are pretty much all dead."
"People need to accept their fate."
Jiang Xiaowan gritted her teeth.
"Fatty Wang, when my dad comes back, he'll peel your skin off."
Fatty Wang laughed even louder.
"General Manager Jiang Xiong?"
"It's hard to say if he's even alive right now."
He walked forward.
"From today on, you need to learn how to serve a man."
"In the future, you'll be my little secretary, kneeling and calling me President Wang... What do you think?"
The people nearby let out lewd laughter, clamoring to join President Wang in the fun.
Fear flashed in Jiang Xiaowan's eyes.
She raised her gun.
Bang!
The bullet hit a thug in the shoulder.
The man shrieked and retreated.
The recoil left her wrist numb.
Fatty Wang's expression darkened.
"You don't know what's good for you."
"Grab her."
"We'll all play with her later."
Several thugs rushed forward.
The two bodyguards intercepted them desperately.
A telescopic baton smashed one person's nose bridge.
The next second, three steel pipes came down simultaneously.
The bodyguard collapsed to his knees.
The other bodyguard was stabbed in the chest again, yet he still blocked the path in front of Jiang Xiaowan.
"Miss, go..."
Fatty Wang kicked him over.
"Where are you going?"
He reached out to grab Jiang Xiaowan.
"Young Miss of Jiang University, usually so slutty, let's see how your skills are in bed."
Jiang Xiaowan's back hit the pillar.
She raised her gun, only to find the magazine was empty.
For the first time, she realized that her status as part of the Jiang Family was useless.
Fatty Wang's smile widened.
The next second.
Boom—!
The wall of the convenience store on the side of the sales center exploded inward.
Shelves, bricks, and billboards flew into the garden together.
Two thugs on lookout duty had just turned their heads when they were crushed against the wall base by the car's bumper.
They didn't even manage to let out a scream.
The black george patton charged into the garden, smashed through the iron fence, and finally stopped in front of the main entrance.
Everyone in the lobby was stunned.
The car door opened.
Lin Yuan stepped out.
His black shirt sleeves were slightly rolled up, and his leather shoes crunched over the broken glass.
He glanced at Jiang Xiaowan.
Torn coat.
Trembling fingers.
A line of blood near her neck.
But she was still alive.
Jiang Xiaowan looked at him, too.
Her lips moved.
"You bastard, why are you so late?"
After she said it, she stunned herself; she had accidentally blurted out her internal "pet name."
Lin Yuan didn't answer.
Qin Yumo stepped out of the passenger seat.
The bandage on her thigh was still seeping blood.
But she stood very steadily.
Her red hair blew in the wind, and her eyes were excessively bright.
Fatty Wang's throat moved.
He recognized Lin Yuan.
That madman who smashed through the gates of Xinghui Group.
But he looked at the dozen or so people behind him, then looked at the few pretty women beside Lin Yuan.
His courage returned.
"President Lin?"
"This is an internal matter of Jinjiang No. 1."
"Don't you go sticking your nose—"
Lin Yuan spoke.
"Except for the leader."
"Kill the rest."
Qin Yumo's lips curled up.
"Understood, Master."
Tang Qiqi had just poked her head out from behind the car, and upon hearing that "Master," her face darkened even further.
"She's getting more and more used to calling him that."
The next second.
Qin Yumo charged into the lobby.
The pain in her thigh didn't hinder her movements at all; instead, it made her even more excited.
The first thug raised his blade to slash.
Qin Yumo shifted half an inch to the side, letting the blade graze the armor layer on her shoulder and back, leaving a shallow mark.
Then she threw a punch.
The man's chest caved in, and he flew backward, crashing into the liquor cabinet.
Glass exploded.
The second person had just turned to flee when she grabbed his wrist.
Crack.
His wrist snapped backward.
Qin Yumo swung him and smashed him into the glass coffee table.
Bang!
The coffee table shattered everywhere.
The third person knelt down to beg for mercy.
"Sis! I was wro—"
Qin Yumo snatched up a broken table leg and pinned him directly to the wall.
The screams drowned out everyone's breathing.
In front of the "Valkyrie," ordinary people were even worse than zombies.
Zombies don't feel fear.
These people would wet their pants.
They would push their companions to block punches.
They would call for their moms.
Qin Yumo didn't stop.
Wrist snaps.
Knee kicks.
Elbow strikes.
Someone was dragging a broken leg, crawling toward the door.
Qin Yumo didn't even look; she flicked her toe, kicking up a machete.
The blade spun out and nailed the man in the back of the neck.
The crawling sound stopped abruptly.
Jiang Xiaowan leaned against the pillar, watching the people all over the floor, her breathing becoming a little ragged.
Since when did the fitness coach beside this bastard become so strong?
Fatty Wang's expression changed.
He turned and lunged at Jiang Xiaowan, grabbing her by the hair and pressing his blade against her neck.
"Don't come over!"
His voice turned shrill.
"Come any closer and I'll kill her!"
The blade pressed down.
Blood seeped from Jiang Xiaowan's neck.
Her body stiffened.
Fear had finally overcome her pride.
Lin Yuan didn't even look at Fatty Wang's face.
He raised his right hand.
In the garden fountain, the water surface exploded.
The water shot into the sky, stretching into dozens of thin blades in mid-air.
Fatty Wang's pupils contracted.
A flash of blue light.
Sss-sss-sss-sss!
His limbs were all pierced through by the Water Blades simultaneously.
The machete dropped to the ground.
Fatty Wang collapsed like a broken sack, letting out a pig-like shriek.
Jiang Xiaowan lost her support and staggered backward.
Lin Yuan didn't help her.
He walked up to Fatty Wang and looked down.
"You just said."
"Sticking your nose in?"
Fatty Wang's teeth chattered.
"President Lin, I was wrong, I didn't know she was your—"
Slap!
Lin Yuan slapped him across the face.
Half his teeth flew out.
Blood splattered onto the marble floor.
Fatty Wang's head lolled to the side, his whole body convulsing.
Lin Yuan had only used half his strength; otherwise, with his current constitution, it was possible he would have slapped the head right off.
Fatty Wang's crotch was soaked.
"Don't kill me."
"I know where the Jinjiang No. 1 warehouse is."
"I know who participated in the rebellion."
"I'm still useful!"
Lin Yuan looked at Jiang Xiaowan.
"Is he useful?"
Jiang Xiaowan gripped the empty gun, her voice a bit hoarse.
"The warehouse access is in my hands."
She paused for a moment.
"Don't kill him yet."
"Give him back to his dog master."
Hope had just risen in Fatty Wang's eyes.
Lin Yuan raised his hand.
Two water needles pierced into his fifth limb.
Crack.
Fatty Wang collapsed on the ground, the pain so intense his voice broke.
"To live."
"Is not to live fully."
Lin Yuan stood up and walked toward Jiang Xiaowan.
Jiang Xiaowan's clothes were disheveled, strands of hair sticking to the side of her face.
She wanted to tidy her coat and maintain her usual poise, but her hands were shaking so much she couldn't fasten the buttons.
Lin Yuan took off his black trench coat and threw it over her.
The oversized coat covered her upper body, but it couldn't hide those long legs.
Jiang Xiaowan's body stiffened for a moment.
The trench coat smelled like Lin Yuan.
A touch of red flushed across her ears.
Lin Yuan spoke.
"The transaction continues."
"From now on, you are mine."
Jiang Xiaowan looked up.
She saw the corpses all over the floor, saw the crippled Fatty Wang, and saw Qin Yumo standing behind Lin Yuan, wiping off blood.
She hated this feeling of being claimed as property.
But what was even more terrifying was that she found she didn't want to refute it.
Because in that split second just now, she had truly almost died at Fatty Wang's hands.
[Ding! Target Jiang Xiaowan (Beauty 92), favorability +4%! Current favorability: 3%!]
Lin Yuan's gaze paused for half a second.
Favorability can move.
This means she isn't a reincarnator.
Regarding Shen Qingyue, the system hasn't provided any effective feedback since.
Jiang Xiaowan still has value.
And, she is very clean.
Tang Qiqi poked her head out from behind the car, watching Jiang Xiaowan draped in Lin Yuan's trench coat, her mouth twitching.
"Picking up another long-legged young lady to take back."
"Sister Yumo, aren't you jealous?"
Qin Yumo wiped the blood off the back of her hand.
"She is useful."
Tang Qiqi pursed her lips.
"Of course you're taking his side now."
"You're even calling him Master."
Qin Yumo glanced at her.
"You can call him that too."
"Qiqi, let me tell you, the taste of a man..."
Tang Qiqi's face flushed red, and she hurriedly covered Qin Yumo's mouth.
Xia Qingqiu stood by the car, looking at the pile of corpses.
She simply pushed up her glasses.
Lin Yuan was just about to say something.
In his earpiece, Su Xiaonuan's voice cut in.
"President Lin."
"Captain Han Xue is not dead yet."
Lin Yuan looked up.
Su Xiaonuan spoke quickly.
"They are retreating in the direction of Jinjiang No. 1."
"Also, based on the intercepted communication information..."
"Among them, someone must have awakened."
