139: Chapter 139 Airdrop Lands in the Capital? Lin Yuan Signs for It On the Spot

Early morning, Tiangong No. 1, third-floor server room.

Six curved screens flashed with data streams.

Liu Qing sat barefoot on her chair, her fingers leaving afterimages on the keyboard.

A red coordinate was locked in the center of the screen.

"Master, I've calculated it."

Liu Qing pushed up her thick glasses.

"The capital's transport plane is affected by wind speed and flight path. The airdrop point is at the logistics park, three kilometers northwest of the South Suburbs."

"That place is spacious enough, has little interference, and is close to the South Suburb Military District; it's the most suitable landing spot."

"It is expected to land in two hours."

In the master bedroom.

Lin Yuan leaned against the headboard, an unlit cigarette in his mouth.

Su Xiaonuan nestled in his arms like a cat, her cheeks still carrying traces of sleepiness.

Liu Qing's voice came through.

"Do you need me to jam their radar?"

"No need."

Lin Yuan took the cigarette out and tossed it onto the nightstand.

"If he doesn't go, this show won't be interesting."

Lin Yuan patted Su Xiaonuan's firm buttocks and got up to walk out.

"Take the substandard serums sent by the capital and go feed them to Mo Tong's horde of corpses. I wonder what kind of things we can raise with them."

Cloud Top Palace, main gate plaza.

Four off-road vehicles roared with engines running.

Qin Yumo couldn't sleep in the morning, so she brought all the cars out.

Lin Yuan had just walked down the steps when he saw Sister Long sitting squarely on an oil drum.

She was still wearing that military-green vest, her shoulders as broad as a wall, a blade of grass hanging from her mouth.

"If you eat your food, you have to work."

Sister Long spat out the grass, her voice rough.

"I'm an A-rank Esper. Take me with you."

Lu Yan stood to the side, looking somewhat conflicted.

He hadn't called Sister Long, but this woman had just followed along on her own accord.

Lin Yuan touched his chin, his gaze sweeping between Sister Long and Tank, who was moving ammunition onto a vehicle not far away.

"Lu Yan, it's your team; you decide," Lin Yuan said in a flat tone. "If you mess things up, you bear the consequences."

Lu Yan's heart sank, but he immediately nodded.

"Understood."

He turned to look at Sister Long.

"Get in the car."

Sister Long sneered, shouldered her shovel, and strode toward the vehicle behind.

Opening the car door, she plopped down right next to Tank.

Tank lowered his head, fished a bottle of mineral water out of his tactical vest, unscrewed the cap, and handed it to Sister Long.

"I'm not a cripple!"

Sister Long snatched the water bottle and tilted her head back to gulp down half of it.

"You wimp, don't drag me down later!"

Two hours later.

A giant white parachute hung over the steel-structured factory building of the logistics park.

Three dark green military airdrop crates smashed through the roof and landed on the bumpy concrete floor.

Dust had not yet settled.

The people from the South Suburb Military District had already surrounded the area.

Director Li Wenhui had come in person today, a rare occurrence.

Three rows of soldiers stood beside the command vehicle; the car door had never been closed, and the engine hadn't been turned off.

If something went wrong, he could be the first to jump in and run.

But at this moment, he couldn't care about fear.

His eyes were fixed on the three airdrop crates, his breathing becoming somewhat heavy.

"As long as this batch of serums is in hand..."

He gripped his thermos tightly, his knuckles turning white.

"Chu Feng will be publicly executed, and Master Jiu will be hung at the gate of the South Suburbs."

"And that Captain Han Xue, who dared to betray herself to rely on Lin Yuan—let her know who is the true master of Jiangcheng."

The South Suburb Military District dispatched 120 men.

Three armored vehicles on the perimeter sealed off the intersection in a triangular formation.

Two heavy vehicle-mounted machine guns were loaded.

There was even a physical enhancement Esper standing behind an armored vehicle, carrying an RPG.

This was the strongest lineup Director Li Wenhui could muster.

"Report to Director Li! There are cars coming from the west!" the observer shouted.

Director Li Wenhui's face darkened, and he immediately grabbed the walkie-talkie and connected to the loudspeaker.

"This is the South Suburb Military District's military control zone!"

"Retreat immediately!"

"Otherwise, it will be treated as an insurrection!"

The huge echo exploded over the logistics park.

The South Suburb soldiers pulled their bolts in unison.

All muzzles were aimed at the west.

The next second.

The black george patton crushed the iron fence on the perimeter of the logistics park, driving straight in with the convoy behind it.

It didn't even turn on its brake lights.

Director Li Wenhui's face changed on the spot.

He recognized that car.

Lin Yuan!

The passenger window of the george patton slowly rolled down.

Lin Yuan sat inside, lit a cigarette, and took a puff.

Cold white smoke drifted out of the window.

He didn't even glance at Director Li Wenhui.

"Lu Yan. Clear the field."

"Yes, Boss!"

Lu Yan pushed open the car door and flipped onto the ground.

The moment his feet touched the ground, his A-rank Superpower [Earth Reshaping] erupted.

No chanting, no setup required.

The hard concrete ground of the logistics park suddenly rolled like ocean waves.

Boom!

The ground beneath the first row of three armored vehicles instantly cracked.

Huge pieces of asphalt shot out of the ground like barbs, piercing directly through the chassis of the armored vehicles.

Two cars flipped on the spot.

A heavy machine gun had just turned its muzzle when it was sent flying, gun and soldier alike, by a suddenly rising earthen wall.

Bullets swept into the sky, clattering against the factory's sheet metal.

Five seconds.

The formation the South Suburb Military District had just set up had scattered.

"Fire!"

Director Li Wenhui's voice broke from fear.

"Kill them!"

Gunfire erupted.

But the marksmanship of these soldiers, composed of refugees, was unwatchable.

Bullets all hit the rising earthen walls and bulletproof car doors, sparks flying everywhere.

Some were so nervous they didn't even disengage the safety, just trembling in place while pulling the trigger.

"Esper squad!" the officer nearby roared.

A dozen burly men rushed out from behind cover.

They were test subjects who had been injected with the capital's incomplete serum.

One by one, their eyes were bloodshot, some had skin that turned grayish-white, others had arms that swelled a size larger, all roaring as they charged at Lu Yan.

They didn't look like soldiers.

They looked more like a pack of mad dogs ripened by the serum.

Among them, the enhancer carrying the RPG aimed the scope directly at the vehicles in the rear.

The back door of the third car was kicked off.

Sister Long jumped off the vehicle, carrying her engineer shovel.

Her A-rank Superpower [Heavy Armor Charge] activated.

Her muscles quickly tightened, and her skin took on a deep gray metallic luster.

She scanned the car behind her with her peripheral vision.

Tank was still inside.

Bang!

The RPG fired!

The rocket with its tail flame headed straight for the convoy.

Sister Long didn't even think, crashing straight into the rocket.

Boom!

Fire soared into the sky.

"Long Qiuyan!"

Tank's roar came from the back.

He was furious, firing wildly with his rifle at the person holding the RPG.

Rat-tat-tat-tat!

That person's chest was riddled with bullets, and he fell backward.

Smoke and dust swirled.

A few seconds later, a massive figure walked out of the fire.

Sister Long's shoulders and back were scorched black, blood hung from the corner of her mouth, and the engineer shovel in her hand was still smoking.

She coughed twice and spat out a mouthful of blood.

Then she turned back and yelled at Tank:

"Open your dog eyes and watch!"

"I can take a hit better than you!"

Tank didn't talk back.

B-rank [Iron Will] activated.

He braced himself against two rifle bullets and rushed to Sister Long's right side, blocking her blind spot.

Seeing this, Sister Long's lips moved.

In the end, she cursed anyway.

"Wimp."

But she didn't tell Tank to get lost.

Qin Yumo had been impatient for a while.

Her red hair rose in the wind like a ball of fire.

Her dual blades were unsheathed.

She didn't even activate [Wild Resonance], relying only on her physical explosion to charge into the middle of the South Suburb soldiers.

Too slow.

Compared to those Japanese ninjas from last night, the people in front of her were no different from wooden stakes.

A grayish-white-skinned mutant soldier took a hit from Qin Yumo's blade and surprisingly didn't fall immediately.

His bones made a sound like metal friction, and his hands gripped Qin Yumo's blade tightly.

"Director! I've stalled her! You promised me to let my sister go..."

Qin Yumo's eyes turned cold, and her knee shattered his sternum.

"Stall? You're worthy?"

After the first officer fell, the second row of soldiers started to retreat.

By the time Qin Yumo's blade tip flicked off the third shoulder badge, the South Suburb defense line had completely collapsed.

Common soldiers dropped their guns and ran.

Mutant soldiers were pinned to the ground by Lu Yan's earth spikes.

Beside the george patton.

Lin Yuan put his hands in his trench coat pockets, stepped over a pile of shell casings, and slowly walked toward the three airdrop crates.

The remaining South Suburb soldiers held their guns, their hands shaking like sieves.

No one dared to stop him.

Director Li Wenhui was protected by a few cronies as he retreated.

Qin Yumo was just about to pursue.

Lin Yuan raised his hand.

The blade stopped.

He arrived in front of the airdrop crates.

His right hand pressed against the cold iron.

A-rank [Dimensional Space] activated.

The three huge military airdrop crates disappeared into thin air.

The entire logistics park was silent for a moment.

The faces of the South Suburb soldiers lying on the ground turned pale.

That was stuff airdropped by the capital.

They had lost so many men.

And in the end, Lin Yuan had signed for the goods, crates and all.

"Get in the car," Lin Yuan turned around. "Let's go."

Lu Yan waved his hand, and the earthen wall slowly lowered.

Qin Yumo sheathed her blades.

Sister Long carried her engineer shovel and looked back at Tank.

Tank wanted to help her.

Sister Long glared at him directly.

"Take your hand away."

Tank silently withdrew his hand.

But he still followed half a step behind her.

The four vehicles quickly turned around.

The george patton did a beautiful drift, kicking up gravel as it sped away.

It left behind only moaning wounded soldiers and a livid Director Li Wenhui.

Director Li Wenhui crawled out of the command vehicle, looking at the empty concrete ground, his whole body trembling.

"How could this happen..."

"How did he know the specific landing spot?"

"Who leaked the secret?!"

None of the surrounding officers and soldiers dared to speak.

Just then, the communicator on Director Li Wenhui's waist suddenly made a crackling sound.

The next second, a synthesized electronic voice sounded.

"Thanks, brother."

"The canned food is in the old place."

"Don't let Director Li Wenhui find out."

Click.

The communication cut off.

The whole scene was dead silent.

Director Li Wenhui suddenly drew his gun and aimed it at the crony closest to him.

"From now on, everyone hand over your communicators."

"Whoever tells the truth first, lives."
