129: That's right! Shoot down their air force.
He looked at Hofi, the Director of Mossad, who had been silent.
"Hofi, I need more accurate intelligence."
"I need to know what Hafiz's trump card is!"
Hofi stood up and nodded solemnly.
"I understand, Mr. President."
"Mossad will give you the answer."
Israel.
The air in the conference room was so heavy it almost froze.
"That madman Hafiz, what does he want? Does he think he can challenge us with a few new planes?"
Minister of Defense Yitzhak Rabin slammed his fist on the table, making the water cups hum.
His eyes were bloodshot, like an enraged lion.
"Mr. President, we can't wait any longer! Those new planes at the Damascus Air Force Base..."
"They are a Sword of Damocles hanging over our heads! We must cut it off before it falls!"
His voice was filled with murderous intent.
The generals present echoed his sentiments.
"The Minister is right! We must strike first!"
"That's right! Destroy their air force, and Hafiz will be a toothless tiger!"
General Moshe Levy stood up and pointed at Damascus on the map.
"As long as we destroy their airfields and those new fighter jets, their so-called modernization will be a joke!"
Dan Shomron added, "We can replicate the glory of 'Operation Focus'! Paralyze their air power in one fell swoop!"
'Operation Focus' was a classic battle they were proud of, and the source of their air force's confidence.
President Chaim Herzog pushed up his glasses, his gaze sharp behind the lenses.
He was not swayed by the generals' fervor.
At the last meeting, he had asked Mossad for more detailed intelligence, but the news Hofi brought back was not optimistic.
The Crescent Nation's secrecy was watertight.
Mossad agents suffered heavy losses, yet they couldn't even get the specific parameters of the new fighter jets.
The unknown was the greatest fear.
But he also knew that the Israel could not lose the initiative by hesitating.
He looked at Rabin and asked in a deep voice, "Rabin, how confident are you?"
Rabin straightened his chest without hesitation.
"One hundred percent!"
"Our pilots are the best in the world! Our F-15s and F-16s are battle-tested aces!"
"Even if their new planes have superior performance, their pilots are all rookies! Air combat isn't just about equipment, it's about people!"
Rabin's words were forceful.
President Herzog slowly stood up and paced a few steps in the conference room.
Finally, he stopped in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling window.
"I agree with your plan, Rabin."
He turned around, his gaze sweeping across the face of every general.
"But what I want is not a simple air raid, but a perfect, zero-error decapitation strike!"
"Orders!"
All the generals immediately stood up, their expressions solemn.
"The Air Force will immediately enter Level 1 combat readiness! All fighter wings, prepare to sortie at any time!"
"Air defense units in the Golan Heights, and all border troops, enter maximum alert!"
"I want you to keep a close eye on every move of the Crescent Nation! Prevent any form of retaliation!"
"Operation code name..." Herzog paused, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
"Let's call it 'Tooth Extraction'!"
"Pull out Hafiz's sharpest tooth!"
Damascus, Presidential Palace.
Hafez al-Assad's face was clouded with worry.
The head of intelligence had just delivered an urgent report, his face pale.
"Mr. President, our intelligence network has detected large-scale abnormal movements by the Israel's military!"
"Their air force bases are highly active, and all border troops have entered combat readiness! This is a prelude to war!"
Hafez's hand, clutching the report, had veins bulging.
"Hmph, that old fox Herzog, he still couldn't sit still after all."
He sneered, but his eyes were full of gravity.
"My orders!"
"The entire army will immediately enter maximum combat readiness!"
He paused, then added a murderous command.
"Also, notify the intelligence and security departments to clean up those hidden rats in the country!"
"Especially Mossad spies! I don't want to be stabbed in the back at a critical moment!"
"Yes, sir!"
The intelligence officer saluted and left.
Hafez immediately dialed Jameson's secret communication.
"Mr. Jameson, the fish... seems to be biting."
On the other end of the line, Jameson's voice sounded very calm.
"Oh? That fast? It seems the pressure we put on them was enough."
"The Israel's military has begun general mobilization, and the target is very clear: our newly re-equipped air force base."
Hafez's tone was serious, "Are you sure your plan... is foolproof?"
"Mr. President, whether a plan is good or not depends on the people executing it," Jameson said slowly.
"Now, you can put out all those fun 'toys' as per our agreement."
"Remember, make them look real, don't let them see through it at a glance."
Hafez was silent for a moment.
He knew that the moment of decisive battle was approaching.
And the key to this war actually rested on this mysterious Eastern man.
He took a deep breath and spoke in an unprecedentedly solemn tone.
"Mr. Jameson, I hope you can serve as the Chief of Staff for this counterattack, with full command of our army."
The other end of the line fell silent.
Hafez's heart was in his throat.
"Mr. President, are you serious?"
Jameson's voice finally sounded again, "I'm just an arms dealer. You want me to command a war? Isn't that unprofessional?"
"You understand the performance and tactics of these new weapons better than all my generals! Only you can fight this battle!"
Hafez's tone was unquestionable.
"Hmm... well..." Jameson seemed to still be hesitating, "I'm a bit lazy; being Chief of Staff is too tiring."
"As long as we win, you can choose any oil field in the Crescent Nation!" Hafez directly threw out a heavy bargaining chip.
"Oh, Mr. President, you're corrupting my pure revolutionary friendship with money!" Jameson chuckled.
"Alright, seeing as you're so sincere, I'll reluctantly serve as a temporary Chief of Staff."
"Once the war is over, I'm out of here."
"It's a deal!"
Hafez let out a long breath.
The news of Jameson's appointment as temporary Chief of Staff caused an uproar among the Crescent Nation's military high command.
Supporters believed it was a bold move to bring in talent, as the changes Jameson brought were evident.
Opponents, however, considered it a great humiliation to have a foreigner command their army.
But Hafez overruled all objections and firmly placed the command in Jameson's hands.
Jameson's first act upon taking office was to visit the newly established Drone Command Center.
"Send out all the Rainbow-7s."
He pointed towards the Golan Heights on the map.
"I want a 24-hour continuous watch on the Jewish air force base; not even a fly can get through!"
On the huge screen, clear real-time footage was continuously transmitted.
At the Israel's air force base, fighter jets were loaded with live ammunition, and ground crew by the runway were exceptionally busy.
"Boss, they're really going for it!" a young officer said nervously.
Jameson leaned back in his chair, legs crossed, looking unusually relaxed.
"Don't panic, let them prepare."
