156: Shameless invaders! Get out!
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia.
At the press conference, camera flashes flickered frantically as if they cost nothing, illuminating the entire hall as bright as day.
Countless reporters held up their 'long guns and short cannons,' aiming them at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson on the podium.
The spokesperson had a solemn expression; he cleared his throat, and his voice spread through the microphone across the hall and to the entire world.
"Today, we are here to expose a shocking and outrageous fact."
He took a deep breath and pressed the remote control.
The giant screen behind him lit up instantly.
A high-definition photo appeared prominently.
The background of the photo was a wilderness, showing several white men in U.S. military uniforms.
They were standing with a group of militants led by Zia Jackson.
In front of them were several open crates filled with brand-new American-made assault rifles.
In the photo, a U.S. military officer was even cordially patting Zia Jackson on the shoulder, with smiles on both their faces.
"Boom!"
The entire press conference exploded into a frenzy instantly.
Reporters squeezed forward like crazy, and countless questions smashed toward the spokesperson like artillery shells.
"Is this real?"
"Is the source of the photo reliable?"
"What is your government's comment on this?"
The spokesperson raised his hand and pressed down, signaling everyone to be quiet.
"This is just one of them!"
His voice suddenly rose, carrying an uncontrollable rage.
"We have more!"
The images on the screen began to switch.
Photo after photo, and one clear video after another, continuously assaulted the eyes of everyone present.
Scenes of U.S. military personnel secretly meeting with Zia Jackson.
There was even a video recording U.S. military advisors instructing the rebels on how to use Javelin anti-tank missiles!
Every frame was like the sharpest knife, ruthlessly cutting into the hearts of all Bolivians!
The evidence was solid and irrefutable!
"Eagle Country, a nation that has always posed as the world's policeman and promoted democracy and freedom, is now crudely interfering in our country's internal affairs!"
"They openly support rebel forces, provide them with weapons, and attempt to subvert our country's legitimate government!"
"This is a trampling of our sovereignty! A blatant provocation of international law! A naked act of aggression!"
The spokesperson became more agitated as he spoke, his fist slamming heavily onto the lectern with a muffled 'thud.'
"We hereby lodge the strongest protest and most severe condemnation against the government of Eagle Country!"
"We demand that Eagle Country immediately cease all actions interfering in our internal affairs and withdraw all military personnel within our borders!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the press conference went completely out of control.
Meanwhile, at the Eagle Country Embassy in Bolivia.
The Eagle Country Ambassador hung up the phone with the Bolivian Foreign Minister, his face ashen.
The photos were crystal clear, and the videos were so sharp you could almost see the pores on people's faces.
"FUCK!"
The Ambassador kicked over the trash can next to him, getting some stains on his expensive suit trousers.
He couldn't understand how such a secret operation had been leaked.
A few minutes later, the door to the Ambassador's residence was pushed open.
The Eagle Country Ambassador walked out with a face as dark as water.
Facing the dense crowd of reporters outside, he said nothing and, under the protection of bodyguards, climbed into the bulletproof sedan with a grim face.
The car's engine roared, and amidst a sea of curses and flashes, he left in a pathetic state.
The whole of Bolivia was in a total uproar.
Countless angry citizens took to the streets, holding up banners, burning Eagle Country flags, and roaring for Eagle Country to get out of Bolivia.
"Shameless aggressors! Get out!"
The international community was in an uproar.
Redwood Country and Silver Country were the first to step forward.
They publicly expressed support for Bolivia's actions to maintain national sovereignty and condemned any form of external interference.
For a time, Eagle Country was pushed to the forefront of the storm, falling into an extremely passive situation.
However, faced with the overwhelming accusations, Eagle Country officials remained uncharacteristically silent, making no response whatsoever.
The silence before a storm is always the most oppressive.
While the world's eyes were focused on this diplomatic storm, undercurrents were surging in the shadows of downtown La Paz.
All members of the Special Operations Regiment and the 'Shadow Special Forces' had completed their final preparations for urban warfare.
The drones distributed by Felipe had already become standard equipment for every combat squad.
As the sky darkened, the lights of downtown La Paz began to flicker on.
Unobtrusive civilian vehicles, carrying Special Operations Regiment Soldiers who had split into small units,
merged silently into the city's traffic, like water droplets flowing into the sea, disappearing from sight.
Their mission was to clear out the strongholds and militants planted in the urban area by Zia Jackson,
clearing the obstacles for the subsequent main force.
On the other side, the real killing move—the 'Shadow Special Forces'—
targeted the rebel leader, Zia Jackson himself.
The night grew deeper and deeper.
At an abandoned intersection in downtown La Paz.
The air was thick with a strange smell of rotting garbage mixed with gunpowder smoke.
José was leading his four-man squad, using the shadows of buildings to advance rapidly and silently with alternating cover.
Each of them wore the latest nano-bionic combat suits; this high-tech gear made them like ghosts in the dark night.
"Stop!"
José suddenly raised his right hand, making a gesture to halt the advance.
Everyone immediately pressed against the walls, their muzzles pointing alertly in all directions.
"What's wrong, Boss?" Alejandro asked in a low voice through his throat microphone.
"Something's not right."
José's eyes narrowed, like a cheetah scenting danger.
"It's too quiet."
This intersection was the only way into the target area; logically, it was impossible for the rebels not to set up defenses.
But now, it was so quiet that there wasn't even the sound of a dog barking.
When things are abnormal, there must be a catch!
"Screech—"
A sharp whistling sound suddenly rang out!
José's pupils contracted sharply, and without thinking, he roared, "Take cover!"
Before his voice could fade, an RPG rocket, trailing a long flame,
whistled out from the roof of a three-story building on the street corner, smashing ruthlessly toward their previous position!
"Boom!"
The violent explosion kicked up dust and gravel into the air, and the shockwave flipped an abandoned car by the roadside directly over!
"Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat!"
"Bang! Bang-bang!"
Almost the instant the explosion occurred, countless tongues of fire erupted simultaneously from the buildings around the intersection!
The sounds of rifles and machine guns intertwined, forming an airtight net of fire.
They pinned José's squad firmly behind cover.
Bullets struck the wall in front of them, sending up countless sparks and scattering fragments of concrete everywhere.
"Damn it! It's an ambush!" a team member cursed under his breath, poking his head out to return fire.
He was instantly forced back by a string of bullets; several stray rounds ricocheted and hit his nano-bionic suit.
They made muffled 'ding-ding' sounds, and aside from making his body sway slightly, nothing happened at all.
"Damn! These bastards have some fierce firepower!"
José spat out some bloody saliva; the airwave from the explosion just now had grazed his cheek.
He knew very well that the enemy had come prepared and wanted to swallow them whole right here!
"Alejandro!" José shouted while leaning against the wall.
"Understood!"
Without the slightest hesitation, Alejandro took a palm-sized black drone out of his tactical backpack.
He quickly opened the remote control and pressed the power button.
The drone's indicator lights flashed, and with a barely audible hum of electricity, it ascended vertically and silently.
Like a specter, it quickly climbed to a height of fifty meters, taking in the entire situation at the intersection.
