35: Chapter 35 Successful Primary Gene Optimization Fluid
May 1st, Labor Day.
While the whole country was on holiday, Su Fan stood in the biology lab, excitedly staring at the test tube in front of him.
Inside the test tube, a purple liquid shimmered brilliantly under the sunlight!
This was the Level 1 Gene Optimization Fluid!
Su Fan really wanted to try it immediately, but after some thought, he stopped. Although he trusted the system and his own skills, he couldn't afford to take any chances.
What if something went wrong?
Generally, after a drug is developed, it first undergoes animal testing.
Animal testing is also categorized into levels.
For instance, it starts with mice, then rabbits, and finally primates like monkeys or chimpanzees.
If there are no issues, an application is made for human trials.
For a mature drug to hit the market, it often needs to go through many preliminary tests and experiments.
However, gene optimization fluid is different from ordinary medicine; it is developed for the genes of a specific species.
This particular batch of gene optimization fluid was made based on the genes of the Yellow race on Blue Star. Forget mice and monkeys—even white or black people would face certain death if injected!
Therefore, gene optimization fluid could only proceed directly to human trials!
Su Fan sealed the gene optimization fluid into a portable syringe, placed it in a black case specifically designed for medicine, and then returned to his office.
He took out his phone and called Zhao Jun. Zhao Jun arrived quickly; his office was right there on the fourth floor.
"gene optimization fluid?!"
"It can make human lifespan reach 200 years?!"
"Physical strength even greater than a Special Forces King?!"
"Cures all diseases?! Immune to everything?!"
Zhao Jun stared blankly at the purple liquid inside the glass syringe—more accurately, the gene optimization fluid.
"That's right, the development is successful, but it lacks human trials." Su Fan explained to Zhao Jun why animal testing wasn't an option.
Zhao Jun had moved past his initial daze. Though shocked, he had regained his composure.
He nodded solemnly, stating he would contact his superiors immediately.
There were many dying people in the military who would certainly not refuse such an opportunity.
"Keep this confidential. gene optimization fluid cannot be mass-produced for now. This is an Elixir of immortality; you should understand its allure to certain people!" Su Fan said with a serious expression, patting the black case.
"Go and report this first. It's best if you make the trip yourself; the fewer people involved, the better."
"The gene optimization fluid will stay with me. Once the volunteers are selected, bring them straight to the biology lab. I need to monitor their physical condition after the injection."
"Alright, I'll leave immediately!" Zhao Jun nodded heavily, not daring to delay.
After Zhao Jun left, Su Fan sighed. Actually, gene optimization fluid could be mass-produced, but he needed to delay that.
The pharmaceutical industry involved too many people—from doctors and nurses to factory and pharmacy employees, as well as medical representatives. Tens of millions of people relied on the medical industry for their livelihoods.
Until enough jobs were created or the country became wealthy enough to support these people, it was best not to cause chaos, as countless families would collapse.
Of course, this step would eventually be taken; it just required him to lay the groundwork later on.
...
Zhao Jun didn't report to anyone else; instead, he returned to his own home in Kyoto City!
"Dad, Su Fan has developed a gene optimization fluid that can extend human lifespan to 200 years."
In the study, Zhao Jun was speaking with a white-haired old man in his seventies or eighties. This old man was none other than the Commander of the Central Theater Command, Zhao Jianguo.
"gene optimization fluid? Can extend lifespan to 200 years?" Zhao Jianguo's breathing quickened. Two hundred years—what a desirable thing.
"Yes, and after the injection, one will be immune to all diseases, with physical fitness stronger than a Special Forces King," Zhao Jun continued.
*Hiss—*
Zhao Jianguo looked at Zhao Jun with burning eyes, waiting for him to continue.
"Now, Su Fan needs to conduct human trials and hopes to get approval."
"Give it to him. Give him whatever he wants. But, after the experiment succeeds, our Zhao family must have a share of the gene optimization fluid," Zhao Jianguo said solemnly.
Zhao Jun nodded solemnly. Zhao Jianguo was already 74 years old. Even if he lived to 90, he only had a little over a decade left, and that was under ideal conditions.
Because he had fought on the battlefields of the 38th Parallel back then, Zhao Jianguo's health was not good. Especially in the last two years, his immunity had dropped significantly as he aged.
To put it bluntly, he might not even last another two years.
Two days later, Zhao Jun returned to the company with a critically ill patient.
In the biology lab on the fifth floor, Su Fan looked at the old man on the hospital bed whose breathing was weak, his expression solemn.
"Brief me on this patient's condition."
Zhao Jun took out a medical record. "Wu Changfeng, age 83, gastric cancer. But because he's too old to withstand surgery and chemotherapy, he has been receiving conservative treatment."
"The cancer cells have now spread throughout his entire abdominal cavity."
"He's currently being kept alive by nutrient solutions and some drugs. If the needles were pulled, he would soon..." Zhao Jun didn't finish his sentence.
Su Fan sighed upon hearing this. Cancer was truly despair-inducing.
"When injecting the gene optimization fluid, a special nutrient solution must also be administered; otherwise, the lack of nutrients could be life-threatening."
"Of course, if it were a young, stout person, the nutrient solution wouldn't be necessary."
While explaining, Su Fan replaced the patient's original IV drip with the nutrient solution he had developed.
Then, he took the portable syringe containing the gene optimization fluid and plunged it into the patient's buttock!
Intramuscular injections in the buttock are the most stable for gene optimization fluid because the muscle is thickest there.
After the injection, Su Fan watched the patient nervously, frequently checking the data on the vital signs monitor.
The patient reacted quickly. First, he frowned, then his muscles began to twitch slightly, and the twitching grew increasingly intense.
This process lasted for an entire day and night.
Su Fan went from being nervous to eventually feeling numb.
Later, he simply let Zhao Jun take over the watch while he took a nap in a chair in the lab.
At 3:00 PM the next day, the patient opened his eyes.
By then, his body had undergone an earth-shattering transformation!
His hair had turned black, the wrinkles on his face had vanished, and his skin regained its luster and elasticity.
If someone who didn't know him saw him for the first time, they would only think he was a middle-aged man in his forties!
Zhao Jun had witnessed the old man's transformation with his own eyes. Seeing the now middle-aged man stand up healthily, jumping and laughing, his gaze became increasingly fervent!
"Chairman Su, do you think we still need more human trials?"
Having personally witnessed a terminally ill, dying 80-year-old turn into a vibrant and passionate 40-year-old, he now wished he could be the next volunteer!
"Let's test a few more—different ages, genders, health levels, and physical conditions," Su Fan said while examining the now middle-aged man.
"By the way, don't forget to have this volunteer sign a non-disclosure agreement."
"Alright, I'll have him sign it in a moment."
After a while, Zhao Jun suddenly said tentatively, "Chairman Su, do you think I could be a volunteer?"
