75: Chapter 75 Dancing on the Giant Beast
Su Fan really hadn't expected to encounter such a melodramatic plot again!
Fate is truly unpredictable; it's like a large intestine wrapping around a small intestine.
Something has happened to Blue Star—something big!
Rewind to one day ago.
In Eagle Nation, several explorers (or rather, death-seekers) were so bored they went to the canyon area of Yellowstone Park to explore.
While exploring a deep downward-sloping cave, they discovered a sleeping giant beast at the bottom!
This giant beast was massive, at least ten times larger than the blue whale, the largest animal on Blue Star!
The explorers were instantly so excited they didn't know which way was north, and they began recklessly messing around with the giant beast, taking photos and poking it with sticks.
Fortunately, whether the giant beast was dead or just sleeping soundly, it didn't react.
After they had their fun, the explorers reported the matter to the government. After all, this was Yellowstone Park, and there was no way they could move this giant beast away unnoticed.
Upon learning of this, the Eagle Nation authorities took it very seriously and immediately dispatched the military to take over the site.
They first used various detection instruments to conduct a comprehensive scan of the giant beast, but the results shocked them.
First were the vital signs.
They found no vital signs on the giant beast; it was as if a rock had taken the form of a giant creature.
After failing to detect vital signs multiple times, they breathed a sigh of relief and concluded that the giant beast was dead.
So, they began trying to cut some skin samples from the giant beast for DNA testing and comparison.
However, what happened next began to spiral out of control!
Thompson was the person in charge of this special incident. Today, he was leading the military and several professors to study the giant beast.
While attempting to extract a sample, a soldier shouted, "Sir, the scalpel can't cut through this giant beast's skin at all!"
Thompson frowned. "Try other tools!"
Next, the soldiers tried many tools, but even with the sharpest industrial cutters and the hardest industrial drills, they still couldn't cause any damage to the giant beast's skin!
Thompson's face grew increasingly shocked. Amidst his shock, he began to employ other methods.
Attacking with a pistol—useless.
Attacking with a rifle—useless.
Attacking with a heavy sniper rifle—useless.
Attacking with grenades—useless.
Attacking with bombs—useless.
Attacking with nuclear bombs—they didn't dare!
This was Yellowstone Park, with the world's largest volcano buried underground. Thompson felt that unless he was tired of living, he would never be so foolish as to detonate a nuke here.
After trying countless methods repeatedly, they still couldn't cause even the slightest bit of damage to the giant beast's skin.
In desperation, Thompson could only order the soldiers to dig the giant beast out first, intending to transport it elsewhere and apply for the use of more powerful weapons.
Most of the giant beast's body was covered by massive rocks and soil; digging it out was no simple task.
After a day of excavation, the soil and rocks on the giant beast were finally cleared away.
At this moment, Thompson finally saw the true face of the giant beast.
The giant beast lay on the ground, brownish-black all over, looking somewhat like a wingless Western dragon from the movies. However, its head was larger than a dragon's, it had three eyes, and a sharp horn on top of its head.
"Sir, according to the professors' estimations based on the ratio of the hind limbs to the forelimbs, this giant beast most likely walks upright on two legs," an officer reported.
Thompson nodded; he could see that. The hind limbs were thick and long, while the forelimbs were only half the length of the hind ones. Walking on all fours would be too awkward.
"Sir, we just measured it. The length from the head to the hind limbs of this giant beast is a full 880 meters!" the officer continued to report.
"880 meters... If it stands up, the Freedom Tower would only reach its belly, and even the Burj Khalifa would be slightly outmatched."
"A pity it's dead. Otherwise, I would have really liked to witness the majesty of this giant beast," Thompson said with a sigh.
To be honest, standing before such a colossal behemoth, the sense of dread was more terrifying than when he was on the battlefield.
Thompson began to stroll around the giant beast.
As he strolled, he lamented to the officer accompanying him.
"Tom, how much destructive power do you think this giant beast would have if it were alive?"
"Sir, I think it's best not to entertain such thoughts. We couldn't even damage its skin with bombs. If it were alive, it would be the end for the nation, and even the world!" Tom's expression was fearful; he had suffered from megalophobia since childhood.
"Tom, you're too cowardly. I think after this, I need to throw you onto the battlefield for some training," Thompson said with a look of disdain.
At that moment, the two of them happened to walk to the front of the giant beast's head.
"Tom, look, this giant beast has three eyes."
"In myths, the third eye always possesses various magical powers. Do you think there's anything special about this giant beast's third eye?" Thompson pulled out a pistol.
"The weakest part of any animal is its eyes. I want to see if this giant beast's eyelids are as indestructible as its body!"
"Sir, those are just myths and legends used to trick children," Tom shook his head; he was a staunch atheist.
"I don't care if myths are lies. I only care if this one shot can blow out its eye!" Thompson raised his pistol and aimed at the third eye on the giant beast's forehead.
"Sir, even bombs couldn't scratch its skin. It's just a pistol; I think it's a waste of effort," Tom offered his opinion and pulled out an anti-materiel sniper rifle.
"Try this instead. Who knows, there might be a chance."
"Alright, my dear Tom, you're always so thoughtful. Come to my room for a drink tonight!" Thompson patted Tom on the shoulder and took the anti-materiel sniper rifle.
"Let's move further away. We don't want to be killed by a ricochet and sent to meet God." Thompson pulled Tom behind a large rock.
"Tom, watch closely. My marksmanship has always been excellent!" Thompson aimed at the giant beast's third eye.
Bang!
The bullet accurately struck the giant beast's third eye.
"Oh, shit!"
"Tom, it seems this giant beast has no weaknesses at all. Its skin is too hard!" Thompson dropped the gun and led Tom to the giant beast's massive head to see if the shot had left any mark.
"Sir, don't bother looking. There's no mark. I think only a nuke would have a chance of hurting it." Observing the giant beast from such close range, Tom's megalophobia was magnified infinitely. His legs trembled, and his voice quivered.
Thompson saw Tom's trembling legs and burst out laughing. "Tom, you look ridiculous right now. It's just a dead little giant beast. What's there to be afraid of?"
"Never mind that it's dead; even if it appeared alive before my eyes, I wouldn't even blink!" Thompson placed his hand on the giant beast's head and gave it a hard slap.
Just as he finished slapping it, an excited voice suddenly called out.
"Sir, my bullet went in! This giant beast has a weak spot hidden under its tail!"
Hearing this, a smile immediately appeared on Thompson's face. Just as he was about to reply, he suddenly felt the giant beast's head beneath his hand vibrate slightly.
Immediately following that, the giant beast's eyes suddenly snapped open.
Two massive golden eyes, like suns, filled with rage, stared intently at him!
