112: Li Xiuwu was a woman kept by a powerful man.
"Li Xiuwu is a woman; she has been cross-dressing as a man all along and is a woman kept by a big shot."
"The shady dealings of the perfect-score top scholar of the college entrance examination."
"Who is keeping Li Xiuwu?"
"Li Xiuwu hit someone and didn't receive any punishment; there is an invisible hand protecting her behind the scenes."
"We are all struggling hard to live."
All sorts of reports appeared, and rumors also surfaced in the media.
It was manageable on the internet; after Qiu Wanjun made a few calls, the major internet companies were very accommodating. Once they discovered rumors, they would delete them and track the leads.
However, print media, especially some unscrupulous tabloids, minor media outlets, and the Southern-affiliated media, were spreading them rampantly.
It was an eyesore.
Golden Culture and Qiu Wanjun relied on the connections they possessed to handle this matter quickly.
Three days after the incident, they locked onto the person who published the rumors through online and offline channels.
"Cai Yinong!" Wang Cheng's eyes were practically spitting fire.
He hadn't slept well these past two days, and his eyes were bloodshot.
Among the rumors that kept appearing, half of them involved him, and while there were many rumor-mongers, the most trashy and immoral one was Cai Yinong.
She was spreading all sorts of rumors, saying that he was keeping his boss.
He wished he could find her and strangle her to death.
"Let's report this to the police and hand it over to the Tianjin police to handle," Lin Qian said, looking at the evidence in front of him.
This Cai Yinong was truly persistent. Once the rumors on the internet were banned, she would instruct her subordinates to fabricate another one. Seeing that the online effect wasn't good, she started releasing news in print media.
They finally followed the clues and found the evidence.
Tianjin a company.
When Qiu Wanjun saw this company address, he ultimately couldn't hold back and dialed a call to Secretary Zhang.
"There is such a thing?" Secretary Zhang had actually also noticed the public opinion regarding Li Xiuwu.
He had been paying quite a bit of attention, but since Li Xiuwu hadn't approached him, he couldn't easily intervene.
"Rest assured, we will definitely take firm action against such a black sheep," Secretary Zhang said.
The legal counsel of the Chip Factory also received a call from Qiu Wanjun. After receiving the various pieces of evidence sent over from Beijing, they officially sued Cai Yinong on behalf of Li Xiuwu and Golden Culture.
The Tianjin police, having received the evidence and further instructions, acted quickly.
Inside a company.
"What's going on with this network? Why is the news deleted right after I post it?" Cai Yinong frowned.
Spreading news these past few days hadn't been very smooth, especially regarding the internet.
In fact, her understanding of the internet was quite advanced; she was definitely the person in the entertainment industry who knew how to utilize the internet best.
Her rumor plan started on the internet, as this left the minimum amount of traces.
However, the continuous deletion of posts over the past two days made her somewhat depressed. She even called customer service to ask why these rumors were being deleted.
She would never have imagined that Li Xiuwu had the ability to influence these internet companies.
One had to know that these internet companies, nowadays, were each large companies worth tens or hundreds of billions.
How could Li Xiuwu and Golden Culture possibly have the ability to influence such companies?
Post a few more different rumors. She called over her subordinate and asked them to call an internet expert.
No one answered. Were they still sleeping?
She knew that people who played with the internet loved to sleep during the day.
Suddenly, the office door was knocked on.
"Who is it?" she asked, frowning.
"Manager Cai, someone is looking for you." Outside the office, the secretary looked at the dozen or so people in uniforms, feeling nervous.
Click!
The door opened, and Cai Yinong was stunned to see the uniforms.
"What is this?" she asked in surprise.
"Ms. Cai Yinong, this is your arrest warrant, and this is a search warrant." The person in the lead presented two documents.
"Handcuff her."
Two officers in uniform immediately went over and handcuffed her. A female officer wearing white gloves performed a simple search and put her mobile phone and other items into an evidence bag.
"What are you doing? I am a law-abiding citizen. I know your Bureau Chief Ma from the Culture Bureau."
"Write that down," said the person standing at the front, then directed the others to search the office.
The computer host was dismantled and taken away, and all sorts of important physical evidence were packed up.
The employees in a company all stood on the sidelines watching, discussing it among themselves, not knowing what had happened.
Li Guoli, having received the news, ran over.
"Everyone, could you tell us exactly what mistake Manager Cai committed?" Li Guoli asked.
The officer in charge turned back and sized him up, wanting to know if he had been involved.
This look made one's whole body feel cold.
"Whether she made a mistake or not, I cannot disclose. If you want to know, you can hire a lawyer to meet with her according to the law."
After a search, the officers packed up and took away all the evidence they deemed useful.
Cai Yinong was also escorted out of the company and taken away in front of the company employees.
Several days later, the lawyer visit requested by Li Guoli was finally granted.
The lawyer met the detained Cai Yinong and did not discuss the case immediately: "Mr. Li Guoli asked me to ask you two questions."
"Okay." Cai Yinong's eyes held hope. After being questioned, she understood why she had been brought in and hoped that Li Guoli would save her.
"The first question, Mr. Li Guoli asked me to ask you, when did you offend the Chip Factory?" the lawyer posed this question.
Businessmen in Tianjin could not possibly be unaware of the Chip Factory that had just changed owners; it was a transaction of over a billion, and it was a cash transaction at that—one could imagine the immense financial power behind it.
When he was handling Cai Yinong's case, he met with the other party and discovered it was the Chip Factory's legal counsel; his heart went cold in an instant.
"?" Cai Yinong knew of the Chip Factory, but she couldn't recall when she had offended the Chip Factory.
Seeing her confused expression, the lawyer did not explain and asked the second question: "Mr. Li Guoli asked me to ask you, what other companies have you offended?"
"?"
Cai Yinong blinked. Her personality often led her to offend people, but there were no big shots; at most, she had bad relationships with people she had collaborated with, or had various conflicts of interest with others.
She wasn't stupid; why would she provoke those who couldn't be provoked?
"It seems Ms. Cai cannot recall any of them." The lawyer stood up.
"You're leaving? You haven't handled my case yet; get me released on bail first." Cai Yinong shouted immediately.
The lawyer turned back: "Mr. Li Guoli said that he cannot handle your matter. He asked me to advise you to confess early and strive for lenient treatment."
"What?" Cai Yinong stood up abruptly.
"Li Guoli, what does he want to do? Is he trying to swallow the company all by himself? In his dreams! When I get out, the company will still be mine." Cai Yinong immediately thought of a company and started slamming the table and cursing.
"What are you doing? Behave yourself."
Outside the detention center, the lawyer hadn't brought back any answers. Li Guoli sighed.
"I had warned her that the other party's background was unknown and that everything had to be within the regulations, but she was always so reckless."
He was worried; the other party's power was clearly unimaginably large. After they were done dealing with Cai Yinong, would they target a company too?
