99: Legend of Jiang Yuyan

Pan Lei drove Li Xiuwu to the set, taking the opportunity to act as his assistant.

Pan Lei might not be great at handling secretarial duties, but he was very familiar with film sets and was quite attentive, so taking care of Li Xiuwu's daily life on set was no problem at all.

"Director Wang." Li Xiuwu walked onto the set and was led by a staff member to meet Director.

Director's set was terrifyingly rough; there were no script readings, no advance training, nothing—they just jumped straight into filming.

While preparing for the opening press conference, Director was also coordinating the scene, keeping the work very intense.

"Handsome, who are you?" Director, who was discussing the scene with Dicky Cheung and Nicholas Tse, looked up at Li Xiuwu.

All the actors present looked over, staring at Li Xiuwu with curiosity.

Although the set was holding its opening press conference today, it had actually been established for some time, and the actors had all arrived in the last few days.

Li Xiuwu was the last of the main supporting cast to join.

"Li Xiuwu from Beijing Film Academy, playing Yan Nantian." Li Xiuwu surveyed the people on set.

The system beeped, alerting Li Xiuwu to the presence of a top-tier furnace.

Li Xiuwu's gaze followed the system's alert, landing on Fan Xiaopang and Senior Sister Yang.

Senior Sister Yang's favorability rating was actually forty; it must have been because they were from the same school.

Facing their curious gazes, Li Xiuwu smiled and nodded.

He then looked around at the crowd; most were just curious, but some cast unfriendly looks his way.

Dicky Cheung was currently one of the hottest young male celebrities in the Hong Kong Circle.

"Oh, not bad, handsome. Welcome to the crew." Director sized up Li Xiuwu—he was very handsome with a tall, upright figure.

Director gave Li Xiuwu a friendly smile; he had to give face to Beijing Film Academy.

"Xiao Wu, give the handsome guy a copy of the shooting schedule."

After saying this, he continued discussing the scene with Dicky Cheung and Nicholas Tse, as today's filming was basically just the two of them.

Li Xiuwu received the shooting schedule; he only had one scene in the next three days.

He didn't pay too much attention to it and walked toward an acquaintance: "Teacher Xu, we get to work together again."

"Haha, I didn't expect you to be on this set too." Xu Jinjiang really hadn't expected Li Xiuwu to join this production.

He could tell from the *Chinese Paladin* set that Li Xiuwu had an extraordinary background; at the very least, he shouldn't be lacking in resources.

For *the legendary twins*, there was really no need for Li Xiuwu to participate in any role other than the two male leads.

"The script is interesting, so I came to take a look," Li Xiuwu replied.

After chatting for a few moments, he parted ways with him.

Pan Lei brought a table and chair from the car and set up a parasol.

"Thanks, Brother Pan." Li Xiuwu sat down and flipped through the script.

He hadn't even looked at Yan Nantian's script yet.

This script was a bit tragic—he was severely injured for twenty years, and upon waking up, he was still in a severely injured state, facing constant pursuit.

Although he was terrifyingly strong, he spent the whole time being hunted alongside the two Protagonists, and finally died at the hands of Jiang Yuyan.

The Hong Kong Circle film crew attached great importance to the opening ceremony, with sacrificial offerings, incense, and firecrackers all going off at once.

Everyone on set was called over to solemnly worship the cameras, which was much more serious than on mainland crews.

After the opening ceremony ended, the crew started filming immediately; this was a shooting style distinct from mainland crews.

It was rough, but fast and efficient—very much characteristic of Director.

However, this didn't have much to do with Li Xiuwu, as he didn't have any scenes for the entire day.

He and Pan Lei sat under the parasol, drinking cold beverages as if no one else was around, looking like they were just there to watch the commotion, which left many people stunned.

"Too pretentious." Many people looked at him with furrowed brows.

People in the Hong Kong Circle considered themselves superior to those in the mainland, so seeing Li Xiuwu's demeanor naturally made them indignant.

"Li Xiuwu." A crisp, melodious voice rang out.

Li Xiuwu looked up, saw a bright and beautiful face, and stood up.

"Hello, Senior Sister Yang?"

Yang Xue smiled as she looked at Li Xiuwu.

She was a student from the Class of '99 at Beijing Film Academy; she had been a senior during Li Xiuwu's freshman year.

The whole school had been happy for a long time when Li Xiuwu was admitted to Beijing Film Academy, and even her teacher regretted not being Li Xiuwu's teacher.

"Our great talent from Beijing Film Academy, I've finally met you today."

Yang Xue glanced at the book Li Xiuwu had placed on the table: *Computer Science*, a book completely unrelated to acting.

"Senior Sister, you're joking. Sit down and let's talk." Li Xiuwu invited Yang Xue to sit; Pan Lei had already slipped away at some point.

Yang Xue didn't stand on ceremony.

Since they were both from Beijing Film Academy and had met on set, helping each other was only proper.

Li Xiuwu opened the cooler on the table: "Senior Sister, what flavor of cold drink would you like?"

Yang Xue peeked into the cooler and took one without hesitation.

"In this weather, having a cold drink is truly comfortable." She took a sip and let out a sigh of relief.

Her big eyes kept scanning Li Xiuwu; judging by his demeanor, Li Xiuwu was not a poor man.

"Senior Sister, if you like them, just come to me to get some."

"Thanks." She lowered her head, drinking her beverage, her brow furrowing and then smoothing out; there were some things she didn't know how to bring up.

"Senior Sister, you have something to say?" Li Xiuwu noticed the change in her expression and spoke first.

"Uh." Yang Xue looked up, then smiled.

"Your behavior like this is a bit unconventional for the crew."

"Huh?" Li Xiuwu was stunned. He didn't think he was doing anything wrong.

"Is there a problem? I've always been like this when filming before."

This was just his first day, and he wasn't familiar with the venue.

When Li Xiuwu was filming *Chinese Paladin* and *flying immortal from beyond the heavens*, he never skimped on his own living facilities.

Even when filming *a deadly secret* on the snowy mountains, he hadn't treated himself poorly.

Yang Xue looked at him, speechless. Alright, we are not the same.

She had also acted in over a dozen productions, but she wouldn't dare to be as unconstrained as Li Xiuwu.

At this moment, she didn't know how to tell Li Xiuwu that, perhaps in his mind, film sets were supposed to be like this.

"I heard you just finished filming a production?" She changed the subject directly.

"I filmed a xianxia idol drama in Hengdian." Li Xiuwu nodded.

"Xianxia idol drama? Is the name of the TV series actually 'Xianxia Idol Drama'?" Yang Xue was a bit surprised by the name.

"It's called *flying immortal from beyond the heavens*, a fairy-demon romance idol drama." Li Xiuwu explained.

"Oh." With that explanation, Yang Xue understood.

The two chatted for a while, getting simply acquainted.

"The Director often changes the script, so you need to be prepared." Yang Xue whispered a reminder to Li Xiuwu.

"Is that so?"

"Since I accepted the invitation to join the crew, my script has already been changed three times." Yang Xue said, feeling a bit helpless.

"Every time I just finish memorizing it, the script gets changed. I still haven't memorized the new script, and what I fear most is the Director handing me a new page for tomorrow's shoot."

"Haha, good luck, Senior Sister."
