138: The budgerigar got into trouble
"The company has developed a new game, which is different from those currently on the market. We're planning a public beta next month, and Liu Yifei and Shu Chang will be endorsing it. I was thinking of having you two help film a promotional MV."
Li Xiuwu explained the reason for inviting them and what needed to be done.
Ning Hao and Guo Fan calmed their shocked hearts and began to delve deeper into the game Perfect World.
They read the world setting and the background stories of the hero characters in detail.
They also tried out the game. The game amazed them; in this full-freedom mode, they couldn't even control their characters well at first.
After doing quests for a while, they switched to Game Master accounts to explore the world.
For this era, this kind of game was truly groundbreaking, offering an immersive sense of world exploration. Even they couldn't help but get hooked.
Fortunately, they didn't forget their work. They put down the game and went to discuss with the marketing team what kind of MV to shoot.
Li Xiuwu found Liu Yifei and Shu Chang; they were already having a blast in the game.
Liu Yifei had changed her class to Archer, while Shu Chang was still playing the Little Fox, obsessed with catching pets.
The employees in the development department, hearing that Shu Chang wanted to catch cute and beautiful pets, gave her a Dudu Bear egg directly.
"Brother, do you want to play?" Shu Chang had transformed into a small white fox, followed by a small white bear, as she killed monsters on the map.
"You guys play." Li Xiuwu stood behind them. He had been very impressed when he first entered this world, but now, having him kill monsters step by step no longer gave him the same feeling as before.
It wasn't until the afternoon that Guo Fan and the others finally decided on a general direction.
Guo Fan came over with a simple story outline: "We plan to shoot a short story. The main plot features a Feather Spirit who uses wind, thunder, and light, and a Fox Demon who uses venom. They naturally dislike each other and have been constantly fighting."
"While exploring the Vengeful Spirit Swamp, they are surrounded by vengeful spirits. They fight side by side, but the Fox Demon's pet dies, leaving her heartbroken."
"The Feather Spirit teaches the Fox Demon the Soul Return technique, resurrecting the pet, and the two become partners."
Li Xiuwu listened to the story outline and thought it was good. It matched the characteristics of the two classes and conveniently explained the origin of the Fox Demon's resurrection skill.
"That works."
"Boss, I want to do a mix of live-action and CG," Guo Fan said, putting down the story outline.
Li Xiuwu's gaze swept toward the others. Noticing his look, Ning Hao spoke up: "Guo Fan came up with this story outline. I think the story is already quite good. Regarding the filming, we discussed it, and I feel his idea is better."
The people from the marketing department didn't voice an opinion. Inviting Liu Yifei and Shu Chang hadn't originally been in their plan; naturally, they followed the boss's ideas.
"Finish the story outline first and develop a shooting plan," Li Xiuwu said to Guo Fan.
"Okay." Guo Fan was somewhat excited. This time, he had more freedom than when he filmed wish you prosper for Li Xiuwu, and he had many ideas he could test out.
"Yifei and Shu Chang, familiarize yourselves with the two classes and their skills first. The shoot will require you to perform them." Guo Fan finally looked at Liu Yifei and Shu Chang.
"No problem," Liu Yifei agreed with a smile; now she had a reason to play the game.
Guo Fan took the materials and left with Ning Hao.
Li Xiuwu took Shu Chang and the others back to the Courtyard House.
"Brother, I heard this game is going to develop an overseas version?" In the car, Shu Chang brought up the news.
"That is happening, but it will be after the public beta. We need to see the market reaction first." Li Xiuwu looked at Shu Chang through the rearview mirror.
"Why? Do you want to participate?"
"My foreign language skills are pretty good. I want to come for an internship," Shu Chang said.
"Chang Chang, you're only a sophomore and you're going for an internship?" Liu Yifei turned her head to look at Shu Chang.
"I chose Foreign Languages and Film as my majors. I've already learned five foreign languages and can master and translate them fluently." Shu Chang deeply regretted why she chose foreign languages in the first place; the coursework was too easy, and she was already preparing to switch majors.
"Ah!" Liu Yifei looked at Shu Chang in surprise. "How come we've never heard you mention this?"
"What's there to talk about? Don't you also know several foreign languages?" Shu Chang felt it wasn't something to show off.
Liu Yifei thought about it and realized it was true; she also knew four languages. Moreover, at Peking University, besides acting classes, she also took photography and directing classes.
If a 'slacker' like her could take several courses, Shu Chang was a top student; learning five foreign languages in two years didn't seem that strange.
"I can only speak them. You're the impressive one, Chang Chang. You'll be a great translator in the future." Liu Yifei put her arm around Shu Chang's shoulder.
Li Xiuwu heard their conversation and didn't object.
The car drove to the North Second Ring Road. When they were almost at the Courtyard House, he suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong?" The two of them looked around. They hadn't reached the place yet, so they looked at Li Xiuwu.
"Someone is at our front door." Li Xiuwu saw six or seven people standing at the entrance of the Courtyard House. They looked very emotional, though he couldn't tell what they were saying.
He took out his phone and called Pan Lei, asking him to go over and check it out.
Then he started the car and continued forward, circling around. There was no one at the south gate, so he drove into the courtyard from there.
"You two go back to your rooms first. I'll go take a look." Li Xiuwu walked from the West Courtyard toward the north gate.
As he approached the north gate, Li Xiuwu's phone rang. It was Pan Lei calling.
"Boss, they're chasing a parrot that flew into your courtyard. It should be that Budgerigar of yours." Pan Lei had gone to find out the reason; among them was an emotional young couple, so it was easy to get the story.
Li Xiuwu, walking toward the north gate, paused and turned into the middle courtyard, looking at the Budgerigar preening its feathers on the crabapple tree.
The Budgerigar saw Li Xiuwu, hopped onto another branch, and pretended not to see him.
"What have you gotten into now?" Li Xiuwu looked over.
Liu Yifei and Shu Chang, coming from the main courtyard, also happened to walk into the middle courtyard and saw Li Xiuwu staring at the Budgerigar.
"What's wrong?" Liu Yifei looked curiously at the Budgerigar on the tree.
"It must have caused trouble." During the summer break, Shu Chang was alone in the Courtyard House and had heard plenty of its nonsense.
"Quack, quack, quack." The Budgerigar mimicked a duck, looking completely innocent.
At this moment, Liu Xiaoli also walked over. She looked helpless yet found it somewhat funny.
"Have those people left?" Li Xiuwu looked at her.
"Pan Lei has already persuaded them to leave," Liu Xiaoli nodded.
"What exactly happened?"
"Let Pan Lei tell you." Liu Xiaoli didn't say, but she had a strange expression on her face.
"Xixi, Chang Chang, come with me." Liu Xiaoli left and called Liu Yifei and Shu Chang away.
Then, Pan Lei walked over.
"What did it do to make people chase it to our door?" Li Xiuwu asked Pan Lei.
Pan Lei also had a strange expression.
"There's a young couple. While they were sharing some intimate moments in bed at night, it suddenly started screaming and shouting at the window, scaring the man out of the mood. They brought their relatives to the door demanding an explanation."
Li Xiuwu's gaze turned toward the Budgerigar.
During dinner that evening, Liu Yifei and Shu Chang kept glancing at Li Xiuwu.
When Liu Xiaoli went to the kitchen, Li Xiuwu glared at the two of them.
"Why are you looking at me? I didn't do it."
