55: Guo Fan, an idealistic ox or horse

Li Xiuwu asked Lin Qian some questions. Lin Qian was a very professional secretary talent. After careful consideration, he accepted this assistant.

As for the last applicant.

"Hello everyone, I'm Guo Fan. I just graduated from Hainan University of Political Science and Law this year. This is my graduation certificate." Guo Fan handed over his graduation certificate.

Wang Cheng and Lin Qian looked at Guo Fan, appearing somewhat surprised. Golden Culture's internal structure was incomplete, lacking all kinds of talents, including legal personnel. However, a fresh graduate being able to come before Li Xiuwu made the two curious.

Wang Cheng took the graduation certificate, looked at it, and then looked at Li Xiuwu.

Li Xiuwu looked at Guo Fan in astonishment. It really was the one from his memory, just much more youthful.

Originally, Guo Fan wouldn't have appeared before him, but because the job-seeking process was too bizarre and his attitude was very sincere.

Xu Muyang heard that Guo Fan, holding a law degree, had visited all film and television companies just to seek an opportunity to become a director.

Xu Muyang wasn't a qualified decision-maker. He was moved by Guo Fan's sincerity, but he couldn't make the decision himself, so he pushed Guo Fan to Li Xiuwu.

"Boss, for the company's legal affairs, we should find someone experienced, right?" Even though it was in front of Guo Fan, Wang Cheng, adhering to his duty, reminded Li Xiuwu.

He had just returned to the mainland and didn't understand the mainland's corporate legal affairs. He believed legal affairs were very important to the company and should be handled by legal veterans.

"No, no." Guo Fan quickly waved his hands.

"I want to apply for the director position." He said this, though his tone lacked confidence.

Guo Fan was originally full of enthusiasm. After graduation, he went to the capital, visited all film and television companies to apply for director positions, but everyone treated him as performance art.

After all, holding a law degree and applying for a director position was just too outrageous.

Wang Cheng and Lin Qian were both shocked. They looked at Guo Fan seriously, wanting to see if he was joking.

Even as a joke, it was too outrageous.

"How about this? I'm currently filming 'Sword and Fairy.' Come to the crew and help Director Zhou run errands, okay?" Li Xiuwu didn't directly agree to make him a director at Golden Culture.

Leaving aside the outrageousness of using a law degree to seek a job, Li Xiuwu was also afraid of forcing growth too quickly, which would harm him instead.

Let him learn from Zhou Xiaowen first. If he shows promise, we can cultivate him; if not, let him go on his own winding artistic path.

"Okay." Guo Fan was somewhat delighted. At least he could get involved in filming. Originally, he was prepared to apply for legal positions at TV stations.

Although Wang Cheng and Lin Qian both thought Guo Fan was outrageous, they had no objections to Li Xiuwu's decision.

"You go wait outside first. I'll take you to the crew later." Li Xiuwu had Guo Fan leave and discussed company issues with Wang Cheng.

"The company's main problem is the conflict with Tangren." Li Xiuwu roughly explained the cause of the conflict and subsequent developments.

"Currently, I've had Xu Muyang arrange for media to argue with Tangren to achieve promotional effects. I think Cai Yinong isn't stupid either. She'll probably realize and use more aggressive methods. Keep an eye on it for me."

"No problem." Wang Cheng nodded. Such matters, in his view, were easy to handle—just mutual accusations. The public doesn't care about right or wrong.

After discussing the company's development with Wang Cheng, Wang Cheng left. He was going to Shenzhen to hand over with Xu Muyang.

Li Xiuwu took Lin Qian and Guo Fan to the crew.

Guo Fan was somewhat excited. He had finally taken a step toward his ideal.

"Teacher Zhou." Zhou Xiaowen was in the crew discussing set props with Tu Bin and Shen Xinghao, as well as camera and lighting arrangements.

Li Xiuwu and Liu Yifei's stand-ins stood on the set, being directed by everyone for positioning, verifying lighting and camera shadow effects.

It wasn't that Li Xiuwu was lazy. If he even took the stand-ins' work, he didn't know how much the crew would curse him.

Whether lighting, photography, or crew, they definitely wouldn't call him dedicated.

"Teacher Zhou." Li Xiuwu came to Zhou Xiaowen's side.

"Hmm." Zhou Xiaowen glanced at him and continued his work discussion.

"I found you an assistant. See if you can mentor him." He pulled Guo Fan forward.

"Hello, Director Zhou. I'm Guo Fan. Just assign any work to me."

"Guo Fan." Zhou Xiaowen sized up Guo Fan, looked at Li Xiuwu, and nodded, saying, "Go help those people lay the tracks."

"Okay, I'll go right away." Guo Fan didn't hesitate, rolled up his sleeves, and joined the work.

Zhou Xiaowen watched his back, turned to Li Xiuwu, waiting for his explanation.

"Hehe, you definitely wouldn't guess. He graduated from a political science and law university this year, holding his graduation certificate, applying for director positions everywhere. I found it interesting, so I kept him. If you're interested in guiding him, if he has talent, it won't bury a good seedling; if not, let him realize being a director isn't that easy."

"There's such an interesting person." Shen Xinghao also found it interesting. As a photographer, he had participated in many crew shootings, seen many people join crews for love of film, but it was the first time seeing someone with a political science and law degree directly applying for a director position.

"Please guide him, teachers." Li Xiuwu said to everyone.

"Don't worry, an idealistic workhorse is a good workhorse. We'll definitely work him to death." Tu Bin said with a smile.

Li Xiuwu understood their meaning. They would definitely assign a lot of work to Guo Fan, but how much he could learn depended on his own ability.

"Teachers, busy yourselves." Li Xiuwu bid farewell. The opportunity was given to Guo Fan; whether he could seize it depended on his skill.

Liu Yifei was peeling an orange, having just cleaned the pith from one. Li Xiuwu lowered his head and snatched it into his mouth.

Liu Yifei was shocked, only reacting after seeing it was Li Xiuwu.

"Ah, you jerk! I worked on it for so long, and you dare steal it!" Her fair fist swung over, dodged by Li Xiuwu.

"Don't mess around. Introducing someone for you to meet." Li Xiuwu stood straight, speaking seriously.

Liu Yifei followed Li Xiuwu's gaze and saw a young man still standing there.

"This is Lin Qian, my newly hired assistant, helping me handle some work matters."

"This is Liu Yifei and Aunt Liu, currently living with me."

"Hello, ladies. From now on, I'll be responsible for handling Mr. Li's work matters. If you have anything, you can also find me." Lin Qian had done preparatory work, knowing of Liu Yifei and her mother's existence.

"Hello, I'm Liu Xiaoli." Liu Xiaoli had insight, seeing discipline in Lin Qian, nodding to him.

An assistant was a very important position. She thought to herself, she'd have to check his background later, helping Li Xiuwu vet him.

The crew was shooting orderly. Shu Chang also returned to the crew from the capital. Her scenes were relatively fewer, having returned to Peking University.

Jiang Xin also participated in the crew's shooting. She played two supporting roles, Nü Yuan and Jiang Wan'er.

She watched Li Xiuwu from afar, seeing Liu Yifei and Shu Chang standing beside him. The two girls were bright and beautiful. The three of them standing together was like 'Sword and Fairy' truly happening in reality.

She restrained her thoughts, silently completed her role, and didn't disturb Li Xiuwu again.
