39: Keeping Liu Yifei as a sugar daddy
Hearing the various rumors becoming increasingly outrageous—even the word "kept" was being thrown around—Zhang Lu immediately stood up to explain. They were only kids, after all.
"Both Li Xiuwu's and Liu Yifei's families are very wealthy."
"Li Xiuwu's car cost over seven hundred thousand, and Liu Yifei's family has one too."
"That car was over seven hundred thousand?" Jiang Yiyan's eyes lit up again upon hearing Zhang Lu's words.
In the car, Liu Yifei was telling Li Xiuwu about their classmates.
"Everyone is so enthusiastic," Liu Yifei said with great interest.
Li Xiuwu turned his head to look at her. "They aren't the same as us. Who knows what they're saying behind our backs? Maybe everyone is saying that you're living with me because you're being kept by me."
"How is that possible?" Liu Yifei didn't believe it.
"It's more like you're the one being kept by me." She punched Li Xiuwu, taking the opportunity to get revenge for being bullied by him that morning.
Li Xiuwu didn't argue with her. She was still young and didn't realize that she and those classmates were not from the same world.
Back at the Courtyard House, Liu Xiaoli had already prepared a hearty meal.
"Wow, Auntie made so many delicious dishes. This is what a home feels like." Li Xiuwu picked up his chopsticks and grabbed a piece of meat.
"If you like it, eat more." Liu Xiaoli's face was full of smiles. She had made a table full of food, and having her cooking recognized made her very happy.
After dinner, Li Xiuwu helped Shu Chang review her studies, and life began in such a peaceful manner.
At school, the classmates were becoming familiar with each other, though a barrier always remained between the two sides.
They had enrolled too late, so they naturally couldn't integrate with the others.
On the contrary, Jiang Yiyan was very enthusiastic toward both of them. Li Xiuwu felt her gaze was like a wolf's, somewhat glowing.
"I think Sister Yan is quite nice," Liu Yifei would say every day when she got home, talking to Li Xiuwu about her feelings toward their classmates.
"You should be careful. Don't get scammed and then help them count the money."
Jiang Yiyan's intentions were clearly not simple, and not just toward him, but toward Liu Yifei as well.
He didn't stop Liu Yifei from interacting with Jiang Yiyan, but he reminded her to keep her guard up.
As for whether she believed him, Li Xiuwu didn't care. If you don't suffer a loss, you'll never learn.
Life settled down like this, right up until the time for the Gaokao.
Shu Chang's uncle also came to send her off to the Gaokao.
"Good luck, Chang Chang." Liu Yifei cheered her on.
"Mm." Shu Chang nodded. She was a little nervous, but also carried confidence.
"Chang Chang, your grades are excellent. Keep a steady mindset, and you will definitely do well," Li Xiuwu said to her.
"I know." Shu Chang nodded, looking at the three people standing at the door seeing her off.
The Gaokao ended, but the courses at the Beijing Film Academy had not; they were making up for the classes missed during the first half of the year due to the pandemic.
A coffee shop not far from the Beijing Film Academy.
Li Xiuwu sat in a booth, staring at a cup of coffee, hesitating whether to drink it.
"Li Xiuwu." A woman's voice rang out.
Li Xiuwu looked up to see a middle-aged woman with exquisite makeup. He searched his memory but didn't recognize her.
"Who are you?"
"I am Cai Yinong." Cai Yinong had heard that Golden Culture was helping Li Xiuwu choose a manager. She bypassed Golden Culture, found out where Li Xiuwu was meeting, and came in person to poach him.
"Oh?" Li Xiuwu nodded, thought for a moment, and shook his head. "Don't know you."
"You!" A flash of anger appeared on Cai Yinong's face.
"I am the General Manager of a company." She proudly introduced her identity.
"I have heard of a company," Li Xiuwu said indifferently. "Is there something you need?"
The expression on Cai Yinong's face was not good. a company was not a small business; it was a television production company. She had introduced herself, yet Li Xiuwu had sat there without even moving—so rude.
She sat down opposite Li Xiuwu without ceremony.
"I have an appointment, it might not be convenient for you to sit here." Li Xiuwu frowned.
"I want to discuss some things with you." Cai Yinong composed herself, her face becoming confident again.
"Oh." Li Xiuwu was curious.
"Your conditions are excellent. If planned properly, your future achievements will be very high," Cai Yinong said confidently.
Li Xiuwu leaned back in the booth, looking at Cai Yinong.
Seeing that Li Xiuwu was attracted by her, the expression on Cai Yinong's face became even more confident.
"I found out that you signed with Golden Culture, a dance hall music company." Her face showed disdain.
"This company can't provide you with any resources, can it?"
"Sign with a company, and I can immediately give you the male lead in a big-budget TV series." Cai Yinong was confident and proud.
"Not interested." Li Xiuwu shook his head. "You can leave now."
"You." Cai Yinong's expression turned ugly again.
"Your title as the top scholar of the college entrance examination doesn't have much use in the entertainment industry," she said with a gloomy face.
"Whether you become popular in the entertainment industry has nothing to do with your academic grades. a company has some connections in the television circle."
"Should I take that as you threatening me?" Li Xiuwu's expression became serious. He looked at Cai Yinong, wondering when he had offended a company?
"I just wanted to give you some pointers on the rules in the entertainment industry," Cai Yinong said with a cold face.
"Do you mean that if I don't sign with a company, I won't become popular?"
"I just wanted to tell you that choices are more important than effort. But now, I am disappointed in you."
Cai Yinong stood up, looking down at him. "Originally, I thought very highly of you."
Her face showed a look of regret. "It's a pity, your personality is not suited for the entertainment industry."
She walked out of the coffee shop with a swaying gait.
Li Xiuwu frowned. What a psycho.
He took out his phone and called Xu Muyang.
"Mr. Li." Xu Muyang's voice came through.
"Help me investigate the situation with a company. Whatever investments they have, ruin them."
Xu Muyang was stunned for a moment. He had met Li Xiuwu a few times, and Li Xiuwu had always been very calm. He didn't expect him to make such an impulsive decision this time.
"What effect does Mr. Li want to achieve?"
"Make it so that a company's film and television investments and productions cannot continue," Li Xiuwu said.
Since being reborn, this was the first time he had been this angry.
For no reason, he had been threatened and lectured by someone.
The last person who wanted to teach me the rules of the entertainment industry is still undergoing plastic surgery now.
"I understand." Xu Muyang nodded in agreement. Golden Culture had nearly one hundred million in funds in its account. He wouldn't dare say he could guarantee success in everything, but if it came to ruining someone else's business, he was ninety percent sure he could do it.
After hanging up, Xu Muyang arranged for contacts to investigate information about a company.
Back at Li Xiuwu's location, the person he was waiting for finally arrived.
A man who looked under thirty.
"Li Xiuwu?" He stood in front of Li Xiuwu's booth.
"I am Li Xiuwu. Hello, Brother Huang, please sit." Li Xiuwu stood up and shook his hand.
"Who was that?" After politely shaking hands and sitting down, Huang Bin turned his head to look at Cai Yinong as she walked out.
He had been here for a while and had happened to see Cai Yinong sitting there, so he hadn't come over.
"A psycho, don't mind her." There was an inadvertent annoyance between Li Xiuwu's brows.
Huang Bin studied Li Xiuwu's expression, wondering what he was thinking.
As an industry insider, he recognized that woman—Cai Yinong, the boss of a company, and also a fairly formidable manager.
He had heard that Cai Yinong did things rather domineeringly. To be able to make Li Xiuwu this angry, she must have angered him during the negotiation process.
He considered the issues involved and was adjusting how he should face Li Xiuwu.
As a newcomer, he really needed this opportunity.
"What would you like to drink?" Li Xiuwu beckoned to the waiter.
"Anything is fine." Huang Bin casually ordered a cup of coffee.
"Student Li doesn't like coffee." He saw that the coffee in front of Li Xiuwu had already gone cold but had not been touched.
"I don't really like this taste. You can just call me Xiuwu." Li Xiuwu looked at the somewhat reserved Huang Bin.
Huang Bin nodded, feeling a bit more relaxed. At least he wasn't the type of arrogant youth who was difficult to communicate with.
"This is my resume. I don't have any formal experience as a manager." He handed over his resume, admitting he was a newcomer.
Li Xiuwu flipped through it; it was about the same as what he had investigated. He closed the resume and put it aside.
"I am not hiring you to be my manager." Li Xiuwu looked at him.
Huang Bin was taken aback for a moment, feeling a bit disappointed. He composed himself, his expression unchanged, and looked at Li Xiuwu earnestly, listening to him continue.
Li Xiuwu nodded inwardly. His mindset was very stable; such a person could remain calm when encountering issues.
"You should know Shu Chang, right? I want to hire you to be her manager." Li Xiuwu stated his purpose.
Huang Bin's eyes lit up. As an industry insider, how could he not have heard of Shu Chang?
Although she hadn't had any starring roles broadcast yet, her development potential was extraordinary, her acting talent was excellent, and she had applied to the Beijing Film Academy. Her future was limitless.
