3: Heading North

This attribute system is surprisingly similar to a classic old game I downloaded a few days ago!

Could it be that I've transmigrated into a game?

My race changed, I even lost my human identity, and my physiological age reverted to childhood… only 8 years old.

Look at these thin arms and legs, they are indeed similar to my childhood, I wonder if my face has also changed back to how it looked when I was little.

Neutral Good alignment, this is quite consistent with my personal style of conduct.

Four points in Strength, judging from the game's settings, this is a reasonable average for an 8-year-old child's body.

And a high Agility of 10 points was confirmed by my performance when being chased by monsters; this is undoubtedly a Half-elf's racial talent.

I remember that in the background setting of that game, Half-elves had a lifespan of over 180 years.

If this is truly transmigration, becoming a Half-elf is much longer-lived than being a human.

Half-elves, as a mix of human and elf, are usually extremely handsome, possessing the advantages of both races.

Half-elves possess human curiosity, creativity, and ambition, while also having elven keen perception, love for nature, and a unique taste for art.

Half-elves have the following traits:

- 30% resistance to sleep and charm spells.

- Possess Darkvision.

- Lockpicking skill increased by 10%, and Shadow Hiding ability increased by 5%.

Six points in Constitution, this is also much higher than the Constitution of human children in the game from my memory.

Sixteen points in Intelligence, my wisdom from before transmigration was retained, and there's an additional +3 Intelligence bonus, perhaps stemming from the knowledge system I accumulated on Blue Planet.

I didn't become stupid, nor did I lose my memory; this system seems quite powerful.

Nine points in Perception, which is also a good attribute; it should refer to my awareness ability, such as detecting hidden traps, enemies, and anomalies in the environment.

Apparently, I've also been strengthened in this aspect by the so-called system.

Ten points in Charisma, does this refer to appearance or this body's magical affinity? It needs further verification.

Although my physiological age is only 8, the sum of all my physical attributes is over 50 points, so the future growth potential is considerable.

But can I, an 8-year-old 'child' with no strength to tie a chicken, survive in this unknown land?

Whether all of this is real or an illusion, whether I wait for the nightmare to end or hold on until the day I can transmigrate back, I must survive.

Just as I secretly made up my mind, a Halfling with sandy brown curly hair walked up to me, carrying a tin can.

He helped me sit up and began to feed me.

The power of that lightning strike was too great; I am still in a semi-paralyzed state.

It was meat soup, with some kind of plant stem added to it. The moment the broth entered my mouth, a tingling sensation came from my tongue, followed by an explosion of sweetness.

Only later did I learn that this was 'Frost Root,' unique to the Northern Lands, whose sap could triple the speed of wound healing.

After eating, I felt much warmer and my limbs could move a little.

Right after I finished eating, three figures loomed over me.

A Halfling Female Mage, her grey robe stained with crystal dust; a human warrior with a scar running across his left eye; and a Halfling male hunter with a short bow on his back.

They started to question me.

Unfortunately, I couldn't understand a single word.

I thought to myself, I can't stay silent forever.

So, regardless of whether they could understand my language, I spoke:

"My name is… Ryan. Who are you people?"

I gave my English name, which I had just come up with previously for a new company email application.

The surroundings immediately fell silent.

Sigh, this is like talking to a brick wall; no one can understand anyone.

After the Female Mage and the hunter exchanged glances, she walked up to me, took out a silver necklace, and put it over my head, placing it around my neck.

She fiddled with the necklace pendant a few times.

I only felt a 'buzz' in my head, and a surge of energy instantly impacted my brain.

It was not a terrifying offensive force.

It felt as if something had drilled into my brain; after a brief sting, I suddenly felt a wave of clarity.

I seemed to see countless words and symbols flash before my eyes.

A long time passed, yet it also felt like just an instant.

I heard someone whispering nearby.

I still couldn't understand their language.

But at the same time, I understood the meaning of their words.

That person was probably saying: Why would Lady Mage waste such precious magic on this little bastard?

The Halfling Female Mage in front of me began to murmur something in a low voice; I couldn't make it out, but I instinctively felt it was a magic incantation.

Her fingers kneaded some kind of powder, which she sprinkled on herself.

Then she spoke again.

This time, I 'understood' the general meaning of what she said.

She called me 'Half-elf kid' and asked who I was.

She told me to answer in my own language, as she could now understand it.

I think she has the ability to make us understand the general meaning of each other's words; this is a magical power.

"My name is Ryan, who are you people?" I repeated what I had just said.

The Female Mage had a playful smile on her face; she said:

"Hello, Ryan, I am Lavinia. They are all members of our adventure team.

I'm sorry, Ryan, that lightning bolt at noon was my accidental misfire.

I originally intended to help you deal with those Mad Apess.

Earlier, I had Gary stew some herbs for you to drink; do you feel better now?"

She accidentally struck me with lightning magic? And then she saved me! I should…

"Thank you! I'm… I'm better. Regardless, I should thank you for saving me!"

Hearing my thanks, Lavinia's face showed a shy expression,

"Well, you don't have to thank me. Ryan, how did you end up here alone? Where are your parents?"

My expression darkened, and I thought: My parents are in another plane; Heaven knows how I got here.

Seeing my expression, Lavinia clearly misunderstood; she quickly waved her hand and said, "I'm, I'm sorry."

"I got separated from my parents," I continued:

"I also don't know how I appeared in this forest. After I woke up, I found those monsters running towards me.

Then… I ran for my life. Later, I fell, and then, you know the rest."

"I'm sorry," Lavinia's eyes seemed to redden, "You're too pitiful, but unfortunately, we are short on time and can't help you find your parents.

Stay with the team for the next few days to recover from your injuries.

However, the place we are going is too dangerous. If there's a safe place along the way within three days, we'll settle you there.

Your injuries need to heal quickly."

She turned to the others and said:

"According to the original plan, we need to reach our destination and meet up with our teacher as soon as possible.

Dear, before we arrive, I'll have to trouble you to expand the scouting range.

I hope there's a human village or an elven dwelling ahead where we can settle this child."

These short people were indeed adults.

From their demeanor, I guessed that the short person dressed as a hunter was probably the Female Mage's boyfriend or husband.

For the next two days, I wore the clothes the short people gave me. Except for camping at night, I was almost always riding on the mule's back during the day.

Along the way, we were constantly attacked by various wild beasts and monsters, and we didn't find any human or elven villages.

On the third day, the numbness in my body finally disappeared, and most of my injuries had healed.

It rained in the afternoon. The late autumn rain quickly soaked me.

The road began to become muddy and difficult to travel.

When the rain stopped, a small mountain appeared before us, stretching across our path.

For the past two days, the team had almost always been walking along the sea cliffs.

From south to north, we headed north along an almost vertical route.

The mountain before us, however, ran east to west, with large sections of its body extending into the sea.

It was as if a giant beast was lying prostrate on the surface of the sea.

The muddy path beneath the team's feet led all the way to the mountain top. After crossing this mountain, who knows where it would lead.

In the evening, when the team reached the foot of the mountain, they did not follow the small path up the mountain.

Instead, the person riding in front led the team towards the western foot of the mountain.

As the team slowly turned, "Cheep…" It was a whistle.

I had heard it many times before when they encountered wild beast attacks.

Had they encountered another wild beast attack?
