111: Chapter 111 The Rules Changed and a Miracle Descends

"Th… this is the certification from the Geneva Highest Special Equipment Appraisal Bureau?" Chairman Wei Jianlin's voice cracked.

President Wang stood up along with him. "What?"

Chairman Wei Jianlin flipped through the documents in his hands quickly, his face growing paler the more he read, "Full-temperature zone absolute safety certification, physical penetration non-combustion and explosion certification, level 9 seismic wave resistance certification..."

He suddenly raised his head, looking at Lu Chen with dull eyes.

"The S-level safety whitelist that ASML hasn't been able to obtain after working on it for over a decade, you… how did you get it?" Chairman Wei Jianlin stammered.

Chen Hao sneered from behind: "With your pathetic physical testing methods, you think you're qualified to dismantle our stuff?"

Lu Chen tapped his fingers on the table, "I traded a truckload of potatoes for it, do you believe me?"

Chairman Wei Jianlin stopped speaking; this seal could not be faked, as it was the highest authority endorsement recognized globally.

Lu Chen pointed at Zhou Cheng: "Now, tell your dog whether my stuff is safe or not."

Zhou Cheng retreated again and again.

"Impossible… this is definitely a forgery, I want to take the actual product to verify it."

Da Biao walked forward, carrying a steel pipe.

He kicked Zhou Cheng in the back of the knee.

Zhou Cheng fell to his knees with a thud, the briefcase hitting the floor with a dull sound.

"My boss is talking to you nicely," Da Biao tapped the briefcase with the steel pipe, "but you insist on acting like a dog."

Zhou Cheng struggled to get up.

Da Biao backhanded him across the face, causing a buzzing sound in Zhou Cheng's ears, his face instantly swelling on one side, and his gold-rimmed glasses flying two meters away.

President Wang couldn't watch any longer.

"President Lu, even if you want to beat a dog, you have to look at the owner. No matter how wrong he is, he is still a Vice President of BYD."

"So you do know you're the owner." Lu Chen stood up, resting his hands on the table, staring at President Wang.

"Your Vice President took my core module to suck up to David, in exchange for his villa in Long Island and a green card. And you, as the President, are here covering for him. Does BYD's stock belong to the Wang family or the Morgan family?"

President Wang's face turned deathly pale, "You… what nonsense are you spouting? I don't know about this."

"You don't know?" Lu Chen threw his phone on the table, "Wu Dong."

Wu Dong walked over and played an audio clip on his tablet.

The conversation in the restroom from early that morning played out.

"...Ten million US dollars, plus a green card, a villa in Long Island; the contract has already been signed and locked in the safe..."

David's distorted Mandarin was crystal clear.

There wasn't a sound in the entire conference room.

President Wang was trembling with rage, pointing at Zhou Cheng who was kneeling on the ground: "You… you betrayed the company?"

"President Wang… I didn't, this recording is a forgery, it's absolutely a forgery," Zhou Cheng screamed hysterically while lying on the ground.

Wu Dong sneered: "A forgery? Do you need me to dig that prepaid SIM card out of the hotel toilet's sewer? I've already had people cut the pipes; we can piece the card together and still check it."

Zhou Cheng completely collapsed.

Chairman Wei Jianlin took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.

"President Lu, Zhou Cheng being a mole is BYD's internal affair. We at Great Wall won't interfere, but the shorting by Wall Street is real." Chairman Wei Jianlin stared at Lu Chen, "No matter how real your safety certification is, as long as Wall Street doesn't let go, the international market won't recognize it. As long as they insist that this is a dangerous product, we still won't be able to withstand the run on our stocks by shareholders. The money must be returned today; we will pay the deposit and the penalty fees."

Lu Chen glanced at Chairman Wei Jianlin.

"Return the money?" Lu Chen sat back in his chair. "The thirty thousand regular workers I hired have already started working in the north of the city today. The construction site burns through one hundred million a day, and you want to cut off their food supply now?"

"President Lu, we are not running a charity. We can barely save ourselves, let's just part ways decently," Chairman Wei Jianlin gritted his teeth.

"I already said it." Lu Chen stared into Chairman Wei Jianlin's eyes. "Eight o'clock tomorrow morning, and it's already eight-thirty. You didn't go to Warehouse No. 1 to inspect the goods, so that counts as an automatic breach of contract. The forty-five billion deposit will not be refunded by a single cent, and you won't get a single battery."

Several of the presidents exploded in an uproar.

"This is daylight robbery!" One of the car company presidents stood up and slammed the table.

The steel pipe in Da Biao's hand slammed onto the coffee table. "Bang."

The glass tabletop shattered instantly, and shards of glass splattered everywhere.

The president trembled all over, his legs went weak, and he fell back onto the sofa.

"This is what you call robbery?" Lu Chen lit his second cigarette. "When you took forty-five billion and forced me to hand over the underlying core technology to give to the foreigners, why didn't you think that was robbery?"

Chairman Wei Jianlin braced his hands on the table.

"Lu Chen, a scorched-earth policy benefits no one. If you swallow this money, within two days, The Big Four Banks will receive a freezing order. Your forty thousand people in the north of the city won't get paid and won't be able to eat. Wall Street won't even need to act; those desperate workers will eat you alive."

Lu Chen looked at the smoke from his fingertips.

"Whether The Big Four Banks freeze me or not, it's not up to you."

Wu Dong walked over and slammed the ultra-platinum U-shield heavily onto the table.

"China Construction Bank unlimited ultra-platinum U-shield." Wu Dong said in a calm tone, "Two hundred million in legal income every day, ignoring any financial blockades. The current balance in my boss's account is higher than the total market value of all your car companies combined."

Chairman Wei Jianlin's eyes widened instantly.

He recognized this thing; there were no more than ten in all of China. Two hundred million in cash flow every day without passing through any regulatory systems meant that Lu Chen was not afraid of audits, and certainly not afraid of being cut off from funds.

"Who on earth are you..." Chairman Wei Jianlin's voice trembled.

Lu Chen ignored him and turned to look at Chen Hao. "Chen Hao."

"Boss."

Chen Hao stepped forward.

"Have those one hundred thousand Solid-state batteries in Warehouse No. 1 been loaded onto the trucks?"

"They are loaded and ready to ship at any time," Chen Hao answered loudly.

Lu Chen looked at those presidents.

"The batteries are made, the parameters crush the rest of the world, and the safety certifications are all complete. If you don't want them, there are plenty of people lining up to take them." Lu Chen tapped the table.

"But now, the rules have changed."

The presidents were stunned.

"Since this is an epoch-making technology, the original price is no longer appropriate." Lu Chen exhaled a smoke ring. "One battery now costs ninety-nine thousand."

"You're crazy!" President Wang jumped up. "Ninety-nine thousand for one battery, why don't you just go rob someone?"

"Think it's expensive? Then turn right and walk out the door. But let me remind you, once you install this battery, your cars will be able to travel two thousand kilometers on a single charge." Lu Chen's voice was flat. "The battery itself weighs less than fifty jin."

Chairman Wei Jianlin gasped, cold sweat instantly pouring down.

Two thousand kilometers, ten minutes to charge, fifty jin in weight.

As soon as this car launches at a press conference, Wall Street's shorting will become a complete joke. All short-selling institutions will have their positions liquidated within a day, and the stock price will not only not fall, it will hit the daily limit.

This is a weapon that will change the dynasty.

Lu Chen threw the cigarette butt into the pile of broken glass.

"Are you buying or not? Give me an answer." Lu Chen looked at Chairman Wei Jianlin.

Chairman Wei Jianlin clenched his fists, the veins on the back of his hands bulging. He knew the immense profit and survival opportunity within this. If he didn't take it, Lu Chen would turn around and sell it to foreign car companies, and Great Wall would have to file for bankruptcy liquidation tomorrow.

"Ninety-nine thousand each, the deposit is non-refundable and will be fully converted into payment for the goods. Great Wall will take sixty thousand units." Chairman Wei Jianlin gritted his teeth, his eyes bloodshot.

President Wang was anxious: "Old Wei, you're hogging it all! We at BYD want fifty thousand units too."

The people who had been aggressive about canceling their orders just a moment ago were now scrambling over each other to buy.

Zhou Cheng lay on the ground, watching this scene, with nothing left in his heart but despair.

He knew David had lost, and Morgan had lost.
