231: Chapter 231 Hell is Empty, Death Squad in Tokyo
"Don't leave a single gram behind for me."
"Understood." Da Biao hefted the vibration combat knife in his hand, turned, and walked into the rain. "Brothers, let's get to work."
Two thousand vials of Genetic Enhancement Fluid were injected within twenty minutes.
Muscles bulged once again, and veins strained blue beneath their skin. No one made a sound; they were all holding back a fierce, explosive energy.
"Neural connection calibrated." Da Biao cracked his neck. "Let's go."
Three hours later.
The tectonic resonance waves completed their course.
That force traveled along the seabed fault line and crashed right into the underground of Tokyo Bay on schedule.
On the surface, alarms blared in unison as rows of buildings collapsed one after another. Flames erupted from every neighborhood, merging into a massive blaze.
The highest-level underground bunker completely lost power. All the emergency lights shattered. The darkness was filled with screams and thick smoke.
Yokosuka Port.
The muddy water brought back by the tsunami was still crashing against the breakwater, leaving everything in ruins.
Only fifty-odd men remained of the Self-Defense Forces' 7th Coastal Defense Squadron, all huddling behind sandbags.
Rain mixed with mud pelted Takahashi's helmet.
"Have you established contact yet?" he roared at the communications officer.
"N-No signal. The Kanto region is completely finished. The radar is blind too." The communications officer's voice trembled. "Captain, there's something in the water."
Takahashi grabbed his night-vision binoculars.
On the dark surface of the sea, a massive shadow revealed its conning tower. The viper-2 submarine pushed against the undercurrent, coming to a steady halt in the deep-water zone.
The airlock opened.
Takahashi's voice cracked. "Wh-What is that?"
The seawater was forcefully pushed aside.
Two hundred three-meter-tall black metal hunks walked out of the water step by step.
Full titanium alloy Exoskeletons. Pure black, with rain bouncing off them immediately upon impact. Their metal combat boots crushed the concrete breakwater with a sharp crunching sound.
No cover, no tactical maneuvers, they just marched forward.
"Fire! Everyone fire!" Takahashi drew his gun, screaming until his voice went hoarse. "Empty your magazines!"
Three light armored vehicles that were still operational roared to life, their heavy machine guns spewing tongues of fire.
The bullets struck the foremost dark shadow, but they didn't even leave a scratch, all ricocheting away.
Da Biao didn't stop.
He marched forward right through the gunfire.
"Boss, don't dawdle," Zhang Qiang said over the comms. "These guys aren't even enough for a warm-up."
"What's the rush? Just stretching my bones."
Da Biao suddenly accelerated.
The hydraulic systems erupted with immense power, blasting a crater in the ground beneath his feet. Leaving an afterimage behind, he crashed directly into the sandbag fortification.
Dozens of sandbags disintegrated. Takahashi was knocked over into the mud by the shockwave.
Da Biao appeared right in front of an armored vehicle.
The gunner's eyes went wide, the barrel of his gun glowing cherry red.
"So noisy." Da Biao raised his leg and kicked.
A half-meter-deep footprint dented the front of the armored vehicle, sending the entire vehicle cartwheeling dozens of meters away before bursting into flames.
The gunner was thrown out and was just about to crawl.
A metallic palm gripped his neck and lifted him up.
The man kicked his legs wildly, clawing at the armor, but he couldn't budge it.
Crunch.
His neck snapped. His corpse was tossed into the sea.
The rest of them completely lost their minds.
"We can't pierce it! They're monsters!"
"Run!"
Dropping their guns, they took off running. Even Takahashi threw off his helmet and fled for his life.
Da Biao didn't give chase.
He tapped his comm button. "Boss, Yokosuka has been cleared. Just a few dozen small fries, they've been scared off."
Jiangcheng, Underground Level 3.
Lu Chen leaned back in his swivel chair and lit a double happiness cigarette.
"Don't worry about those who fled. The thing you wantβthe Mitsui gold."
"Copy that. There's nothing but scrap metal left in this crappy port." Da Biao's voice carried heavy panting.
Lu Chen exhaled a puff of smoke and looked at Wu Dong. "Still haven't found it?"
Wu Dong's fingers flew across the keyboard. "Sakura Country's civilian network has collapsed. I've tapped into their underlying military fiber optic cables."
He hit enter.
"The four vaults in downtown Tokyo are completely empty. Not a single coin was left."
"Empty?"
"Those old foxes moved it long ago." Wu Dong brought up a power consumption heat map. "I tracked their capital flows and logistics lines, and found this node."
In the center of the screen, in a desolate mountainous area seventy kilometers off the coastline, there was an anomalous red dot.
Lu Chen tapped the screen. "What place is this?"
"Fuji Heavy Industries' special sub-laboratory. Externally, they claim it's for materials research." Wu Dong pushed up his glasses. "But it's a fake. It's a hundred and fifty meters underground, with a perimeter of three-meter-thick lead plates and radiation-proof concrete. It has its own nuclear power supply and hydraulic shock absorption. The earthquake just now had very little impact on it."
"What about security?"
"Insane. All ports are physically closed-loop, a completely offline iron shell. At the very bottom is a nuclear-blast-proof vault; the door can't be blown open. Even armor-piercing shells wouldn't leave a scratch on it."
Lu Chen flicked his cigarette ash.
"Can't be blown open."
He spoke into the microphone, "Da Biao."
"Here."
"I'm sending you the coordinates. Take your men over there and find that iron shell." Lu Chen took a drag from his cigarette. "If the door won't open, then don't go through the door."
Wu Dong's fingers paused.
"Peel away the ground above it, layer by layer, until it's completely clear. Dig the whole thing out, door frame and all." Lu Chen stubbed out his cigarette. "I want to see the goods before dawn."
"Understood!" Da Biao's voice rose.
At Yokosuka Port, the rain was still falling.
Da Biao looked at the new coordinates popping up on his retina. Seventy kilometers.
He turned to face the two hundred black mechas behind him.
The enhancement fluid burned in their veins, and the Exoskeleton engines let out a low growl.
"The coordinates are in. Let's go dig up some treasure." Da Biao drew his combat knife, the blade vibrating at high frequency, shattering the raindrops.
The two hundred Death Squad Soldiers looked up, their electronic eyes glowing with a red light.
No nonsense. Only execution.
Da Biao pointed his blade toward the mountainous area.
He slightly bent his knees.
"All-out assault. Tear it down."
The thrusters around his knees erupted with blue light.
