118: Chapter 118 Fifty Million, Opening a Green Channel

Old Zhou took a deep breath and continued his report: "I had the admin staff call again, but the administration office said that intensive care beds are extremely tight and completely full. That Director Liu even gave strict orders for the security department to keep a close watch on the main gate and the emergency department, saying if we dare to go to the hospital to cause trouble, they will call the police to arrest us."

The meeting room was eerily quiet, and Old Zhou's voice echoed off the walls.

Chairman Wei Jianlin's fingers, holding a broken cigar, froze in mid-air. President Wang looked up, his eyes filled with a sense of incredulous absurdity.

What kind of madman is this?

In the middle of a multi-billion scale market strangulation battle, not only does this factory director not use the money in his hands to save the market, but he is instead determined to smash 50 million in cash into a Grade-A hospital in Jiangcheng.

Just to get medical treatment for those working-class underlings?

Lu Chen's face remained devoid of any expression. He turned off his tablet and tossed it onto the mahogany table.

Shifting his gaze, he swept it toward Wu Dong beside him.

"Take the ultra-platinum U-key you have," Lu Chen stood up, his eyes fixed on Wu Dong, "Bring the lawyers from the legal department and go to the First People's Hospital right now."

Lu Chen raised his left wrist and glanced at his chipped Casio watch.

"Within half an hour, I want to see the exclusive green channels for all the patients on the list opened." Lu Chen's tone was chillingly calm. "If they don't believe it, use money to smash them until they do. Whoever blocks the channel, use money to smash them until they get out of the way."

Wu Dong didn't waste a single word. He immediately pulled the crumpled tie from his trouser pocket, tied it loosely around his neck, grabbed the tablet and the ultra-platinum U-key with the black background and platinum edge, and strode out of the meeting room door.

Twenty minutes later.

Jiangcheng First People's Hospital, the director's office on the top floor of the administration building.

Director Liu sat in his leather office chair, sighing as he stared at a report on the table regarding a shortage of funds for medical equipment upgrades; the funds just allocated by the city were far from enough to fill that massive hole.

Suddenly, a noisy sound of footsteps came from outside the door, and immediately after, the office door was pushed open a crack.

The head nurse from the front desk poked half her body in, looking panicked, having even forgotten to knock.

"Director." The head nurse swallowed hard and pointed outside. "The people from that Chenguang Electronics Factory who called earlier have shown up. They brought a few lawyers in black suits and insist on transferring 50 million into our public account. This situation looks wrong."

Director Liu's brows instantly furrowed tightly. He slammed the shortage report in his hand onto the desk, stood up, and pointed outside.

"Are these scammers crazy? Trying to scam me right in my office!" Director Liu shouted at the top of his lungs, "Call the security department! Bring riot shields and kick these lunatics out immediately."

The head nurse was about to turn around.

Bang.

The solid wood office door was pushed open with great force, hitting the wall with a loud crash.

Wu Dong walked straight in, accompanied by two grim-faced legal staff.

Without any pleasantries or a single word of self-introduction, the legal staff member wearing glasses stepped forward and slapped a 'Letter of Intent for Cooperation on Targeted Medical Security Fund' stamped with a bright red official seal directly onto Director Liu's desk.

Wu Dong took a step forward and pulled out the ultra-platinum U-key with the black background and platinum edge from his inner suit pocket.

Director Liu's eyes widened, and just as he was about to start cursing, Wu Dong swept aside the messy files on his desk and, without a word of explanation, plugged the U-key directly into the USB port of the office computer tower on Director Liu's desk.

"What are you doing! You are disrupting the hospital's normal operations." Director Liu was trembling with rage and reached out to pull out the U-key.

"Our boss doesn't have time for jokes." Wu Dong spat out the words coldly, pressed down on Director Liu's shoulder, and forcibly pushed him back into the boss chair.

Wu Dong bent over, gripped the mouse with his right hand, and skillfully opened the backend of the public transfer interface for The Big Four Banks' joint account. The sound of keyboard typing echoed continuously in the office. He quickly entered the First People's Hospital's public account number.

He filled in the amount field directly: 50000000.

Entering a string of dynamic passwords, Wu Dong did not hesitate for even a second and struck the Enter key heavily with his index finger.

Without any delay, this 50 million in cash, carrying the highest authority of the absolute defense center, ignored all inter-bank risk control barriers and was smashed directly into the First People's Hospital's basic public account.

"Ding."

The backend of the hospital's financial system instantly popped up the highest-level red notification sound for a received payment.

Immediately after, the internal communication phone that Director Liu had placed on the corner of the desk also began to vibrate frantically, with an urgent message from the head of the finance department popping up on the screen.

Director Liu had just picked up the thermos tea cup on his desk, intending to drink some water to calm his nerves, but when he heard this commotion, his hand shook violently.

The scalding tea splashed out, pouring all over the back of his left hand, instantly scalding a large red mark.

But he seemed not to feel the pain, his eyes staring fixedly at the long string of numbers on the computer screen with the green "Received" label.

50 million, cold, hard cash.

The fingers Director Liu used to hold the tea cup were shaking uncontrollably. He opened his mouth, his lips trembling non-stop, and a gurgling sound came from his throat; he couldn't squeeze out a single word for a long time.

The entire director's office fell into a deathly silence. The head nurse standing at the door was already dumbfounded, not even realizing that the shift schedule she was holding had dropped to the floor.

Director Liu swallowed hard, his originally ruddy face turning deathly pale. He slowly raised his head, his voice trembling so much that it had completely changed pitch.

"W-what conditions do you want?" Director Liu's gaze shifted back and forth between Wu Dong and the legal staff. "50 million in cash as a deposit. Which multinational pharmaceutical group are you representatives of? Are you trying to push some high-priced kickback drugs, or do you want to monopolize our hospital's critical care consumables?"

Wu Dong ignored his guesses. He reached out to pull the U-key from the computer tower and tucked it back into his suit pocket with extremely efficient movements.

He braced his hands on the desk, leaned forward, and stared fixedly into Director Liu's pupils with his bloodshot eyes.

"We don't sell drugs. And we don't have time to deal with your medical consumables." Wu Dong relayed Lu Chen's strict order word by word. "Our boss has only one requirement. Open all the critical care green channels in your hospital, use the best medicine, and the top-tier attending physicians to save the families of our Chenguang Electronics Factory."

Wu Dong's fingers tapped heavily on the letter of intent, which included a roster, making a muffled sound. "The people on the list must all be admitted to the hospital before work ends today. If there are no beds, vacate the VIP wards. If the money isn't enough, call me anytime. There's plenty more."
