202: Chapter 202 High-Pressure Ejection, Steel Frenzy Descends on Manhattan
"Prepare to go ashore and collect the debt." Da Biao's muffled voice echoed inside his metal helmet.
At the bottom of the Hudson River, the current was swift. The nuclear submarine viper one hovered thirty meters below the surface.
Cold water furiously lashed against the submarine's black hull.
Inside the command cabin, only a few dark red tactical indicator lights were flickering.
The white captain stared at the green sonar coordinates on the console.
His hands gripped the tabletop tightly, his wrists trembling.
"Captain. Are you sure you won't reconsider?" The white captain turned his head to look at Da Biao, who had squeezed into the command cabin. "This is the heart of the United States. Directly above us is the most rigorous defense network in the entire world. Lower Manhattan is crawling with anti-aircraft positions and Coast Guard patrol boats."
Da Biao raised his dark gray titanium alloy armored right arm. The neural interface chip at the back of his neck lit up with a faint azure glow.
He snatched the tactical microphone from in front of the white captain.
"The heart is nothing. I brought people here today specifically to rip this heart out alive." Da Biao patted the edge of the console. "Enough nonsense. Is the coordinate locked?"
"Locked." The white captain swallowed hard. "14 Wall Street. An underground anti-aircraft bunker. It was the ultimate fortress built during the Cold War. It is also one of the peripheral strongholds used by Freemasons to handle dirty work. But Captain, the underwater currents are too swift; a conventional surfacing will definitely be picked up by radar. As soon as we break the surface, anti-submarine aircraft will drop bombs within five minutes."
"Who told you I was going to surface conventionally?" Da Biao pushed the white captain aside and slammed a red physical button on the console.
"Sixty atmospheres of pressure in the ejection tubes. Flood them all. Charge to maximum power." Da Biao roared into the microphone.
The white captain was so scared that he plastered himself against the cabin wall.
"You're crazy. Thirty meters deep. Ejecting at sixty atmospheres will make the surface explode. The commotion will be too great." The white captain waved his hands frantically.
"The commotion is exactly what I want." Da Biao turned to stare at the white captain. "Open the doors for the brothers."
In the tactical cabin.
Fifty metal bodies weighing half a ton each were wedged firmly in front of the torpedo tube rails.
Cold water rushed furiously into the launch tubes. The red needle on the water pressure gauge hit its limit.
"Brothers. Water ghost tactics are live." Da Biao's voice cut into the public channel.
Fifty helmets closed simultaneously, emitting a synchronized, muffled sound of metal locking together.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
Violent explosions echoed in succession deep under the sea. The terrifying thrust of sixty atmospheres was released instantly.
Fifty dark gray titanium alloy Exoskeletons shot out along the launch tubes, trailing a long stream of white high-pressure air as they surged toward the surface.
Late at night. Pier 7, Manhattan.
Strong winds mixed with cold drizzle pounded the concrete ground.
Several Coast Guard patrolmen were hiding under a shipping container, smoking and chatting.
The sea surface thirty meters away arched upward.
Fifty thick columns of water shot into the sky one after another, piercing through the curtain of rain in the dark night.
"What the hell just came out of the water?" A patrolman flicked away his cigarette butt and immediately drew his gun.
Before he could disengage the safety, fifty huge shadows crashed down from mid-air.
Boom.
The three-story stack of shipping containers on the pier was crushed into a severe depression. The harsh, tearing sound of twisting steel echoed across the entire pier.
Fifty heavy-duty Exoskeletons crouched on top of the deformed metal sheets. The heavy hydraulic shock absorbers hissed with escaping air.
"Spread out." Da Biao stood up and pressed a hidden button on the edge of his wrist armor. "Activate optical camouflage refraction panels. Advance along the underground pipelines."
A very high-frequency electromagnetic ripple flashed across the dark gray titanium alloy surfaces. Fifty massive metal bodies blended perfectly with the rain in the surrounding night. Under the distorted light, only blurry silhouettes remained, moving rapidly.
Da Biao leaped off the shipping container. He grabbed a half-meter-thick stainless steel manhole cover on the pier ground with one hand.
His hydraulic right arm, capable of five tons of thrust, exerted force.
A sound of metal friction rang out. The solid steel manhole cover was torn apart by his bare hands and tossed casually into the nearby green belt.
"Team One and Team Two, enter the pipe network. Maximize advancement speed. If you encounter any living things blocking the way, clear them out." Da Biao leaped into the pitch-black underground pipeline.
Forty-nine blurry shadows followed closely behind. They cut silently into the underground heart of Manhattan.
14 Wall Street.
Underground anti-aircraft bunker, Freemasons peripheral Conference Room No. 12.
The crystal chandelier emitted an extravagant glow.
Steven was sunk deep into a leather sofa, swirling half a glass of premium red wine in his hand.
On the large wall screen directly in front of him, a long string of glaring dark web data was scrolling.
Bounty amount: 30 billion USD. Target: Lu Chen, Director of Chenguang Factory in Jiangcheng, China.
In the order acceptance prompt box at the bottom of the screen, red names were increasing frantically.
"Boss. Several retired sniper teams from Blackwater have accepted the order. There are also death squads from South American drug lords. Several underground mafia groups in Europe have also put out a bounty." Security Chief Paul, who was standing to the side, bowed his head to report.
Steven took a large gulp of red wine and laughed wantonly.
"Do you see clearly? This is what's called the absolute sanction of capital." Steven pointed at the numbers on the screen. "So what if that bumpkin Lu Chen created a chassis? So what if he created special materials? Dead men can't run factories."
Paul nodded quickly in agreement. "Of course. Thirty billion USD. Enough to buy the armies of ten medium-sized countries to work for us. That man surnamed Lu probably doesn't even dare to step out of his front door now."
Steven slammed his wine glass onto the table.
"Step out the door? He must be trembling under the desk in the factory director's office right now. That kind of lowly commoner will never understand what true fear of money is." Steven snorted coldly.
Three other capital agents in suits sat around the long conference table.
"Mr. Steven. The Council of Elders is still waiting for results." A white man wearing glasses spoke up to remind him. "The twelve high-dimensional creatures airdropped into Jiangcheng have all lost contact. We must use this 30 billion bounty to completely turn the situation around."
"Just twelve pieces of biochemical trash." Steven looked disdainful. "Lost is lost. We will never run out of trump cards. Lu Chen thinks he can turn the world upside down by relying on a few lousy workers and some blueprints. Today, I am going to use money to smash him to death in Jiangcheng."
Steven turned his head to look at Paul.
"Go notify finance. Add another five billion USD to that secret account. Put the heads of all those core executives at Chenguang Factory at the very top of the bounty list."
"Especially that guy named Wu Dong. And that Wei Jianguo. I want them dead by tomorrow noon." A fierce glint flashed in Steven's eyes.
"I'll get right on it. As long as the money is there, the local gangs in Jiangcheng will risk their lives. Lu Chen won't last forty-eight hours." Paul promised.
"Forty-eight hours is too long. I want him to have a mental breakdown tonight." Steven leaned back into the sofa.
The space in the underground bunker was vast. The walls were all cast with two-meter-thick reinforced concrete. This was an absolute safe house.
Steven was just preparing to pour another glass of red wine.
The floor of the entire underground bunker suddenly shook violently.
The red wine bottle on the table tipped over. Crimson wine spilled onto the snow-white carpet.
The huge crystal chandelier overhead began to sway violently. The light bulbs emitted a buzzing sound of electrical interference.
"What's going on? Is there construction work above?" The white agent wearing glasses stood up in a panic.
Steven frowned and looked at Paul. "Go outside and check. Tell the security team to lock all the ventilation duct gates of the bunker. This is our safe house. No mistakes are allowed."
Paul had just reached out to pull the walkie-talkie from his waist.
The large screen on the wall flashed with a blinding static pattern. The page displaying the scrolling bounties disappeared instantly.
Zzz.
The explosion-proof lights began to flicker frantically. The backup power alarm for the entire conference room blared with a piercing beeping sound.
The large screen lit up again. It cut to the surveillance footage of the three explosion-proof security doors outside the bunker.
Steven stared fixedly at the screen. He gasped, sucking in a breath of cold air.
In the surveillance footage, the first titanium alloy security door, weighing over ten tons, was now completely twisted and deformed. It was covered in clearly visible giant fist marks and torn-off hinges.
There were no human figures in the pitch-black corridor outside the door.
Fifty pairs of eyes emitting a faint azure light were suspended in mid-air. Those points of light were arranged in a regular pattern in the darkness, carrying a suffocating sense of oppression.
A giant mechanical arm wrapped in dark gray metal reached into the surveillance field of view without warning.
That metal palm casually pinched a load-bearing steel column with a diameter of twenty centimeters. With a fierce snap, it bent it.
The solid steel column made a crisp cracking sound and snapped directly into two pieces.
The hand threw the broken steel column onto the ground and raised a thick metal middle finger at the camera.
The screen went completely black.
There was deathly silence in the conference room.
Steven's legs went weak. He knew it too well. In the battle reports from the East Sea, the monsters that tore the comprador destroyer into scrap metal with their bare hands had this exact configuration.
"Sound the ultimate alarm. Open fire. Call everyone outside to come in." Steven backed away frantically, hitting the wall.
Paul's hands were shaking so much he couldn't press the button on the walkie-talkie. In the security public channel outside, there was only the muffled crunching sound of bones being crushed alive by heavy hydraulics. Not even a single complete scream was heard.
Outside the final two-meter-thick tactical security door, the screeching sound of metal being cut could be heard.
The piercing noise made everyone in the conference room cover their ears.
In the center of the door gap, a blinding blue high-temperature cutting line slowly lit up.
The tip of a super-high-frequency oscillating alloy combat blade was slowly and forcibly stabbing in from the outside of the thick door panel.
