239: Chapter 239 A Fierce Dragon Crosses the River Without a Gun
Mike sat in a leather chair, a bottle of chilled whiskey placed on the table.
The air conditioning was turned up high.
Security Captain Jack stood opposite him.
"What is the listed price of rice over in Jiangcheng now?" Mike asked.
Security Captain Jack laughed.
"It has increased by a full twenty times. There is no market despite the price. You cannot buy a single grain of rice on the market. That guy named Lu Chen is about to be driven mad by the Jiangnan General Chamber of Commerce."
Mike picked up his glass and took a sip.
He leaned back against the chair.
"The boss has given the word: hold onto this shipment tightly. When those one million workers in Jiangcheng start rioting from famine, that will be the time for us to take over his territory."
"Those old guys in Jiangnan really have vicious methods; they cut off the logistics routes completely, so even a god couldn't get in," Security Captain Jack chimed in.
Mike tapped on the table.
His expression turned cold.
"There must be no mishaps on our end. We are storing sixty percent of the rice for the Asian region here. Those grain merchants have bet everything on us, so we must not let any outsiders sneak in."
Security Captain Jack patted his chest.
"Rest assured. I have set up three layers of blockade lines, five hundred Blackwater elites, six large-caliber heavy machine guns mounted on the roof, plus three wheeled armored vehicles. This defense is absolutely impregnable."
Mike nodded in satisfaction.
He put down his glass.
"I heard that Lu Chen has some underworld background and keeps a group of thugs under his command. But we are abroad, and the law doesn't matter here. If he dares to send people, we dare to blast them to pieces with bullets."
Two in the afternoon, the scorching sun was directly overhead.
The asphalt road was baked hot, and even the air was distorted by the high temperature.
Da Biao was wearing a pair of flip-flops, with a gaudy Hawaiian shirt on his upper body. The buttons were completely open, revealing dark cyan pectoral muscles.
He had a toothpick in his mouth, strutting forward along the side of the road.
Zhang Qiang walked beside him, holding half a pitch-black nutrition bar in his hand, biting into it occasionally with a crisp crunching sound.
"This damn weather, it's hot enough to make a person smoke," Da Biao scratched his shiny, bald head.
Zhang Qiang swallowed the bits in his mouth.
"When we come out to do business, we have to be low-key. The boss told us to come in on tourist visas, so we have to dress like this. It's easier to get through customs, at least."
Da Biao looked back.
Behind them followed more than fifty burly men, all wearing the same beach shorts and floral shirts. Some of them even had cheap DSLR cameras hanging around their necks.
Further away, there were dozens of such small groups converging from different streets. A total of five hundred people, all of them Death Squad Soldiers who had just been injected with Genetic Enhancement Fluid.
A vendor on the roadside was selling barbecue, sizzling with oil and emitting the scent of cumin.
Da Biao walked over and looked down at it.
He frowned.
"Back at the factory, I could eat fifty skewers of this stuff in a row. Now, smelling this, my stomach is churning, and I feel really disgusted."
Zhang Qiang tossed the remaining half of the nutrition bar into his mouth.
"Old Wei didn't lie. Our stomachs have mutated; they only recognize these black bars."
Da Biao spat.
"If we don't eat it, we don't eat it. Saves money. Let's go, time to work. I always feel so stifled without a gun in my hand."
Zhang Qiang sneered.
"Your bones are hard as hell, what do you need a gun for?"
The two of them led the large group to the metal gate of the granary.
The gate was lined with high-voltage barbed wire, and a warning sign in a foreign language stood beside it.
Two heavily armed Blackwater mercenaries were hiding behind sandbags, wrapped tightly in helmets and bulletproof vests, the safeties on the AK automatic rifles in their hands already disengaged.
They had long since noticed this group of strange tourists on the surveillance cameras.
The mercenary on the left stood up, aiming his muzzle directly at Da Biao.
"What are you doing? This is private property. Get out of this street immediately."
Da Biao couldn't understand this foreign language, so he tilted his head and asked Zhang Qiang.
"What is this bird-man muttering?"
"He's telling us to get lost," Zhang Qiang replied.
Da Biao grinned. He took the toothpick out of his mouth and held it between his fingers.
Without any hesitation, he strode forward with his long legs, walking straight toward the high-voltage barbed wire.
"Stop! One more step forward and you will be shot on the spot!" the mercenary roared sharply.
Da Biao didn't even pay attention. He lifted his right foot and kicked the barbed wire directly.
Crack.
A blue electric arc burst instantly, and the high-voltage electricity traveled along the barbed wire to Da Biao's leg, making a harsh sound.
Da Biao didn't even blink, and his body didn't even sway.
The mercenary's expression changed drastically. This was a high-voltage net capable of stunning a buffalo, yet the bald man in front of him had absolutely no reaction.
"Fire! Warning shot!" the mercenary yelled.
Bang.
He pulled the trigger without hesitation.
A bullet hit the concrete floor at Da Biao's feet, sending gravel flying and splashing onto Da Biao's ankles.
The five hundred Death Squad Soldiers behind him stopped instantly, all eyes locked firmly on the gate.
The bloodthirsty instinct generated after the genetic mutation was completely triggered. Five hundred people did not make a single sound, but an oppressive killing intent filled the air.
Da Biao lowered his head and took a look at the bullet hole on the ground.
He raised his head again and looked at the mercenary behind the sandbags.
"Trying to scare me with a gun?"
He took a big step forward.
"You missed. Aim here."
Da Biao pointed to his left chest with his thumb.
The mercenary was enraged. These Blackwater veterans were used to running rampant in Southeast Asia and didn't care about human life at all.
"You're courting death."
The mercenary leveled his rifle, aimed at Da Biao's chest, and pulled the trigger all the way.
Bang.
Tongues of fire spat out.
The bullet, carrying immense kinetic energy, rushed out of the barrel and hit Da Biao's exposed left chest with pinpoint accuracy.
No blood splattered, no screaming fell to the ground.
The moment the bullet tip touched the dense layer of muscle under Da Biao's skin, it emitted a harsh sound of metal clashing against stone.
Clang.
The twisted and deformed bullet head was forcibly deflected by that completely unreasonable high-density bone structure, falling to the ground and rolling a few times.
Da Biao looked down at his chest.
Only a faint white mark was left on the skin, not even breaking the surface layer.
"Damn it."
Da Biao rubbed his chest.
"Is this barrel stuffed with mud? The force is about the same as a girl scratching an itch."
The two mercenaries were completely dumbfounded. They opened their mouths wide, looking at the bullet on the ground and then at Da Biao's chest, their brains unable to process what was happening.
"This is impossible," the mercenary on the left backed away frantically. "He must be wearing invisible body armor underneath."
"Full auto, sweep his face!" the mercenary on the right clicked the fire selector to the end.
Da da da da da.
Two AKs erupted with dense gunfire simultaneously, and strings of bullets were all shot at Da Biao and Zhang Qiang.
Zhang Qiang didn't dodge at all, letting the bullets hit his face, neck, and chest.
Sparks erupted continuously on the two men, and the bullet heads fell to the ground with a crisp clattering sound.
Zhang Qiang spat and rubbed his numb cheek.
"Hitting the face hurts a bit. These bastards don't play by the rules."
Da Biao walked forward into the hail of bullets, each step leaving a clear indentation in the ground.
He walked up to the sandbags, reached out his right hand with bulging veins, and grabbed the red-hot gun barrel.
Sizzle.
The extreme heat burned a wisp of smoke from Da Biao's palm, but he didn't let go at all.
The mercenary pulled the gun back desperately, but the barrel didn't budge.
Da Biao exerted force with his five fingers suddenly.
Crack.
The steel barrel was crushed flat by him with one hand, turning into a piece of scrap metal.
The mercenary was so scared that he let go and scrambled backward, crawling and rolling.
"Monster! Call for support, Gate One is under attack!" the mercenary roared into the walkie-talkie, his voice completely cracking.
Inside the office, the whiskey glass in Mike's hand fell to the floor and shattered into pieces.
Security Captain Jack stood up, his hands pressing firmly on the desk, staring at the surveillance footage on the wall.
"You tell me, what is that thing?" Mike's voice trembled. "Have you ever seen a human being catch automatic rifle bullets with their face?"
Security Captain Jack swallowed, his head covered in cold sweat.
"Maybe, maybe Jiangcheng developed a new type of close-fitting nano-bulletproof vest."
"Can a bulletproof vest protect the face?" Mike pounded the desk frantically. "Mobilize everyone immediately, open fire with heavy machine guns, and tear them into mincemeat!"
Security Captain Jack grabbed the walkie-talkie and roared.
"All squads attention, highest level of defense, fire, free fire!"
At the outer perimeter, a shrill air defense alarm sounded throughout the entire granary.
Hundreds of heavily armed Blackwater mercenaries rushed out from the buildings in all directions, wielding various heavy weapons and quickly seizing firing positions.
The six heavy machine guns on the roof all turned their muzzles, the dark, hollow barrels locking firmly onto the five hundred people outside the gate.
Da Biao stood on the sandbags, looking at the dense array of gun barrels, the smile on his face growing wider and wider.
He looked back at the five hundred brothers who were eager to try.
The five hundred men completely tore off their disguises. They ripped off their floral shirts, revealing terrifying muscles full of dark cyan metallic luster. Everyone's eyes were completely bloodshot, emitting an extremely violent red light.
This group of monsters modified by the Genetic Enhancement Fluid had reached the peak of their thirst for slaughter in their bones.
Da Biao turned his head and looked at the mercenary shivering in the corner.
"Go back and tell whoever is in charge inside."
Da Biao's voice was rough.
"This place is now taken over by the Jiangcheng Chenguang Electronics Factory."
He reached out his hands and grabbed the thick steel chain of the gate directly.
Taking a deep breath, a base thrust of 3.5 tons erupted instantly in his arms.
Bang.
With a dull, loud bang, the thick steel chain was ripped into two by his bare hands, and the two-ton iron gate collapsed to both sides with a roar, kicking up a sky full of dust.
Da Biao grinned and spat out the half-piece of toothpick in his mouth.
He drew the high-frequency oscillation combat knife from the side of his thigh.
"Brothers, the boss said, all the grain hereβnot a single grain of rice is to be left for the foreigners. Move out."
Five hundred non-humans let out a roar simultaneously, and at a speed hard to discern with the naked eye, they charged directly into the defense line, facing the dense bullets of the heavy machine guns.
