169: Chapter 169 Hardcore Roadshow

The heart-wrenching roar of Lone Wolf was still echoing repeatedly through the speakers in the surveillance room.

The two accompanying specialists beside Director Zhao suddenly drew their pistols. They flanked him, shielding Director Zhao tightly behind them.

The entire wall of large surveillance screens was filled with flickering static.

The backup infrared surveillance system automatically switched to night vision mode.

Twelve tall, grayish-white shadows were sprinting and charging through the rainy night. A three-meter-thick, high-strength reinforced concrete blast wall stood directly in front of them.

Bang.

An extremely dull, explosive sound rang out.

The monsters didn't slow down at all. They slammed directly into it with their physical bodies.

The heavy blast wall collapsed on the spot. Large chunks of concrete peeled off and crashed to the ground. Special steel rebar as thick as a forearm snapped clean across.

Director Zhao was completely panicked. He pushed aside the accompanying personnel in front of him and threw himself onto the control console.

"This is Hive," Director Zhao roared, pointing at the screen. "They are Freemasons' ultimate bio-engineered cyborgs. Their body temperature is zero. Their internal skeletons have been completely replaced with special titanium alloy. Conventional external firepower has absolutely no effect on them."

Director Zhao was sweating profusely from anxiety. He turned and stared at Lu Chen.

"Lu Chen, what are you still sitting there for?" Director Zhao shouted. "Get into the underground bunker quickly. That junk you have outside can't withstand these monsters. People will die. Connect to Lone Wolf immediately. Tell the garrison to cover our evacuation."

Lu Chen didn't turn his head. He remained sitting steadily on that old, worn-out canvas chair.

Lu Chen held the burnt-out double happiness cigarette butt between two fingers. He pressed the butt down and forcefully crushed the embers inside an empty Red Bull can beside him.

"Evacuation," Lu Chen repeated the two words.

Lu Chen turned his chair. His old leather shoes made a soft sound as they stepped on the terrazzo floor.

He picked up the all-black walkie-talkie on the table.

"It's my territory. Why should I evacuate?" Lu Chen's tone was calm. He pressed the red talk button on the walkie-talkie.

"Da Biao," Lu Chen said.

"I'm here, Brother," Da Biao's rough and extremely manic voice came through the walkie-talkie immediately. The background noise was mixed with the sound of a torrential downpour and the roaring engines of excavators.

Lu Chen looked at Director Zhao's face, which was covered in cold sweat, and continued speaking into the microphone.

"Take fifty brothers over there," Lu Chen said, his speaking pace neither fast nor slow. "Put on a product demo for our guests from the capital."

The surveillance room instantly fell into a dead silence.

Secretary Zhou huddled in the corner. He swallowed hard, thinking something was wrong with his ears.

A product demo?

In the middle of the night? Facing a group of monsters that could smash through blast walls? And he wants the factory security department to do a product demo?

"You got it, Brother," Da Biao roared with laughter on the other end of the walkie-talkie. "The brothers have been itching for a fight. Grab your gear. Let's go smash them to pieces."

The communication was unilaterally cut off.

Director Zhao felt all the blood in his body rushing to his head. He stared at Lu Chen with wide eyes.

"You're crazy," Director Zhao gasped breathlessly. "You're sending your factory security department to go head-to-head with the highest-level biological weapons. This is definitely suicide. Lu Chen, this is a battlefield. Stop messing around with these childish business tactics here."

"Since you want to pay for equipment, I have to let you see the quality of the goods," Lu Chen tapped the table with his finger, pointing at the surveillance screen. "Consider it a free product demo; you're getting a bargain. Pull up a chair and watch. I've already locked the main gate. Whoever tries to run, I'll break their legs."

The two accompanying specialists immediately raised their pistols, aiming at Lu Chen.

Old Zhou stood to the side. He loosened his hands, dropping the canvas bag containing the company seal. He reached into his wide pants pocket and pulled out a large, rusted pipe wrench, striding forward to block Lu Chen's side.

"Put the guns down," Director Zhao ordered through gritted teeth.

Director Zhao had spent so many years in the capital. He understood the situation very well. This room was completely under Lu Chen's control.

Across the ocean. New York. Manhattan underground command room.

Anderson stared intently at the large satellite feed screen on the wall.

The signal was being interfered with. It was very blurry. But he could still clearly see those twelve killing machines easily tearing through the defense line at the Jiangcheng construction site.

Several military jeeps that tried to block the road were flipped over directly by the monsters.

Anderson raised his goblet. The curve of his mouth continued to widen.

A few sets of crude, makeshift iron-sheet skeletons. Did they really think they could stop these biochemical monsters that represented the pinnacle of global life science?

Lu Chen, your doomsday has arrived.

Anderson tilted his head back and downed a large gulp of the dark red wine.

Jiangcheng. The 8,000-acre construction site in the north of the city.

The rain was getting heavier.

Lone Wolf lay in a muddy puddle. The assault rifle in his hand had emptied all its magazines. It was emitting acrid smoke.

Fifty meters ahead, a Hive monster grabbed the side door of an armored vehicle.

The monster let out a sharp hiss. Its arms exerted force suddenly.

A harsh sound of metal snapping rang out.

The armored vehicle door, weighing several hundred pounds, was ripped off by force.

The monster tossed it aside casually. The heavy door smashed into three special forces soldiers who were firing their guns nearby, sending them flying.

The special forces soldiers fell heavily into the mud pit and passed out on the spot.

The monster didn't pay any attention to the fallen soldiers. Its grayish-white eyes were fixed on the main office building ahead. The main building was the core target for the system's erasure directive.

"Stop it!" Lone Wolf roared.

There were no bullets left. Lone Wolf threw away his rifle. He drew the tactical knife strapped to the outside of his thigh.

Lone Wolf prepared to charge in for hand-to-hand combat. Even if he died, he would delay it for a few seconds.

Just at the moment he bent his knees, preparing to lunge.

The ground began to shake violently.

An extremely dull, extremely rhythmic sound of heavy metal striking the mud came from the passage behind him.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Lone Wolf stopped his movement and looked back.

In the torrential rain, fifty tall and burly dark figures strode over.

Da Biao walked at the very front.

The rough, dark gray titanium alloy Exoskeleton on his body shimmered with a cold, wet luster.

The blue source energy glimmer on every mechanical joint connected into a whole row of road signs in the dark night.

Da Biao was dragging something in his hand.

A piece of special pure steel I-beam that had just been dismantled from a temporary load-bearing column at the construction site.

It was five meters long. It weighed at least half a ton.

Da Biao dragged the I-beam forward, gripping one end with a single hand.

The other end of the I-beam plowed a ten-centimeter-deep trench through the waterlogged mud. Mud and water churned up.

Behind Da Biao followed forty-nine workers from the security department.

Fifty men. All of them wearing heavy metal Exoskeletons.

Each of them carried a ridiculously large metal blunt weapon in their hands.

Some carried heavy counterweight iron blocks. Some gripped alloy track pins dismantled from excavators. Others were directly hauling a thick angle steel bar from a high-voltage transmission tower.

"Colonel, let the brothers take a break," Da Biao said as he walked up to Lone Wolf, not stopping his pace for a single step.

Da Biao didn't even glance at Lone Wolf with his peripheral vision.

He lifted his thick neck and spat a large mouthful of saliva mixed with muddy water onto the ground.

Directly ahead, the twelve Hive monsters suddenly stopped their charge.

The human emotional centers in their brains had long been removed. All that remained was the instinct to lock onto targets and execute commands.

At this moment, the high-intensity energy fluctuations emitted by the micro source energy reactors on Da Biao and his men caused the monster systems to determine they had encountered a physical obstacle of extremely high danger.

Twelve grayish-white heads turned in unison, locking onto Da Biao.

Da Biao raised his left hand.

The forty-nine heavy-duty security guards behind him stopped in unison.

Their heavy metal military boots struck the mud, creating a synchronized echo.

Hum.

The hydraulic pump systems of the fifty Exoskeletons simultaneously emitted a brief, sharp whine.

The pale blue source energy glimmer surged instantly.

"The Factory Director just spoke. We're doing a product demo," Da Biao grinned, revealing two rows of teeth stained yellow by smoke.

He roared at the brothers behind him.

"Don't embarrass our Chenguang Factory," Da Biao's voice was louder than a rumble of thunder. "Take these son-of-a-bitch, inhuman, ghostly bastards and hammer them all into scrap metal pancakes for me."

"Yes, Brother Biao!" the fifty burly men roared in unison.

The roar drowned out the sound of the torrential rain.

Muscles bulged on Da Biao's right arm. The servo motors on the mechanical arm instantly pulled to maximum load.

He swung the half-ton I-beam with one hand, resting it steadily on his right metal shoulder armor.

Da Biao bent his knees slightly. His military boots smashed into the accumulated water beneath his feet.

"Watch me crush your yolks!" Da Biao let out a violent roar.

Directly opposite, the first Hive monster spread its arms, which were filled with sharp titanium alloy bone spurs. Its feet crushed the stone slabs as it lunged straight at Da Biao.
